Man, these are great. Addictive. I saw your youtube on RLLRRL a few weeks ago and haven't stopped fooling with them. I alternate them with LRRLLR, and also the original paradiddle diddle RLRRLL and LRLLRR. Mostly i use the triplet/sextuplet feel with them. Thanks!!! Do you usually use just the single strokes for moving to the toms & accents? Or use parts of the double strokes too?
@mpiet55 Thanx man, I do use doubles on the toms sometimes, but the sticking is different and incorporates kick drum. With this one, both singles can come together on the one tom, and if you incorporate your kick, you can get some cool 16 triplet fills, or play it faster for some 32nd note fills : ) Dean
the sticking seems to be the same as a six stroke roll, the difference must be in the accent placement and the length between the notes right? im still tryin to get my rudiments down, great video.
@wardrumma yep, but i related it to a paradiddle cause of my last vid where I was using paradiddle sticking for a groove. yeah man, I still struggle getting everything smooth, I think it's a life long battle for some of us. Dean : )
I checked that track out and no sextuplet patterns really stood out to me, I watched a few live videos, I dont know the studio version...there's some 7/8 stuff goin on aswell. If u look at your sticking, starting on the single left hand, it's a paradiddle diddle sextuplet. I'm also self taught.
Thanks for your response/opinion - I assumed that my sticking was incorrect, but (in the meantime) it still fits the time signature...(I found out that) you are right about the 7/8 - although I mistakenly perceived the measure as being longer (~13/14)...it's nice to know another self-taught drummer (along with Dennis Chambers)...I thought I had read that Phil Collins was self-taught, too...thanks again...I appreciate your videos...
Very quick playing...I am a self-taught drummer, and over the years I have "stumbled" onto learning different time signatures (etc.)...in the process of learning different arrangements on playing Genesis' "The Cinema Show" (studio version), I "stumbled" onto a sextuplet-grouped inverted paradiddle...still, do you know the sticking pattern for this Genesis song - my playing fits the time signature, but after watching many YT videos, I don't think I have it down yet...thanks
Yeah, that's one of my tracks where I was using this rudiment at the intro.
Sure it's not a lead, or channel? Did u hit it with your stick? I've never had one die, except a really old 2nd hand one that was from the 70's I think.
Saludos desde Argentina!! esto me es de gran utilidad!!! espectacular!!

correct me if i am wrong, but your inverted paradiddle as you phrased it is actually a six stroke roll as well?

was that you playing at the beginning and end audio clips? If so, you really know how to work that snare for all of its dynamic worth. Very nice.
On a side note, my SM57 on my snare drum just stopped working. No more. Broken. I thought they were invincible???
