in every shredding video, someone will complain about "no feeling, not soulful" and stuff, seriously people, it's not THE ONLY THING one must expect from listening to music, sometimes it's something else to be interested in, you know?
pretty much when u write something u know exactly what ur doing so for say if i wrote somethiung at 450 bpm i dont think anyone else could play it but me...
@EnragedImp That's not true at all, anyone can play something regardless of whether or not they wrote it. All it takes is practice. Oftentimes if you practice enough, you can become better at playing something than the original composer.
There, Batio is still about speed. Everybody can do that lick, but not at this speed. Look at Chris Broderick with his 30 fingers tapping, or at Michael Romeo with his tapping with big jumps, those
This guy is like Malmsteen's younger brother. Appreciate the intense speed, but I can't do it. Hard to be accomplished at all styles. This guy seems to be able to compose & write his own exceedingly well done compositions. This shows he is not a mere bedroom copy artist. A real talent here. I also appreciate the slow hand technique and feeling as I am older. Even Satch and Vai know how to slow it down, a touch of speed should be for dramatic crescendo effect.
i beg to differ, i hear people on youtube bitching about how there is no melody in several michael angelo batio, yngwie malmsteen, and tiago della vega videos.
depends on where you look, i love fast guitar but i also like slower more melodic stuff too, and i always feel like listening to both, but i know what you mean
@justinorville you're not entirely right man... although very much of the famous guitar players that we listen to play fast stuff but i don't think so much of them have lost their melodic and beautiful feel.
@justinorville while i agree with you whole-heartedly that guitar is really devolving nowadays.. i wouldnt say that really applies to batio, i mean he was like an 80's speed metal guy, but i heard a few nice melodies from him before :)
That was so awesome! i'm learning to play my new guitar now and your video gives me a little hope that I can be almost as good as, when I get older. (im 14 now)
Next MAB or Satriani? ahahahaha hardly, but the guy is pretty good. I think it's his tone that makes you reminded of satri, It's a nice smooth bold tone. but yea, cool vid bro, peace \m/
i know that you posted this 2 months ago but i think you should take a look at Guthrie Govan (listen to "Fives" or "Waves") and Shawn Lane (listen to "Gray Pianos Flying")
@oiseauxdughetto fast doesn't mean without soul. many fast solos are, but many aren't, don't you think? check the sixpounder's 2nd solo out! that's really fast, but full of emotions as well
@oiseauxdughetto I agree with you, but not all music has to be about soul. like, this was just something that was supposed to be crazy hard to play, not soulful.
@oiseauxdughetto Well....it depends on what your definition on soul is, if its making orgasm faces then thats fine. However... just because someone isnt making those faces dosent mean they are playing with soul. People express themselves differently, sometimes through speed and accuracy. Also, people that bash on fast players usually cant play fast themselves (im not saying you were bashing) If your going to be critical of something....make sure you can do what you criticizing.
@oiseauxdughetto fast solos dont lack soul, were just playing what flows best with the song, and depending on the style u play, that can sometimes get pretty fast.
@oiseauxdughetto Saying that playing under a certain speed only restricts creativity, one could say not bending lacks soul too or anything outside the C major scale, but then everyone would sound exactly the same and end self expression entirely you could say "I dont like fast solos" but asking anyone to forget trying express themselves for something that lies entirely on the ear of the beholder is silly, I Dont like songs with a half time feel but that doesnt mean they lack anything
@oiseauxdughetto Not necessarily true... I believe some songs do need that fast shred in there to set off the moment in the song...so I do believe some fast solos DO in fact have some soul in many degrees : D
lol. being able to play fade to black is balls all compared to this. Not saying it isn't good, just you ought to get off your high horse. If you'd left the 'but' out, then it'd have been fine, but your acting as though playing fade to black is more impressive that this, which it isn't. Hate to be so condescending, but that's just the way it is.
Playing "Fade to Black" by Metallica is more difficult than this in my opinion. However when learning music, nothing is difficult, it's just tedious. I've been playing guitar for over ten years, and I can tell you, and any other real guitarist will agree: "shredding" is the easiest aspect of playing. I'm not trying to be condescending either, I'm just stating the facts. I could easily learn this piece within fifteen hours, it's not a matter of being hard, it's just whether or not you're willing.
you do make a very valid point. Musicians can do almost anything with their fingers at anytime they want to. it is just that person holding themselves back. if the practices they could play stuff like this or better.
First, that song's not as difficult as that little lick he just played. Second, nobody on Youtube cares what you can supposedly play unless you put up a video.
I knew a guy back in my hometown that was like 12 and played Malmsteen perfectly (he was the younger brother of a guitarist so his life was about guitars). So yeah, it may be true at 14.
That was fast. I noticed your comment on my site. wow it was a year ago. you ok? that was fast hope you still jamming. i got a new Ibanez. enjoying it. I am older so i only play the slower laided back stuff working on learning more BB KIng style as I can not use my pinky ring that much due to health. but i still love practicing. I am going to write a song soon got chords worked out and most of the words just got to arrange it now.
meh... its a pity this guys insists on playing everything too fast and too technical... it makes it sound rubbish... the first one was much better when he played it slow... it actually sounded decent... second sounded like a noise my gameboy would make when i lose at tetris.................
I know how to play that string skipping patter u go from strings 1 to 3, 2 to 4, 3 to 5, 4 to 6..
i learned it on the Speed Kills2010 from MAB. as he would say with this technique u sound like ur all over the place.
