I can totally relate to what you're saying, I've lived with the condition since I was 13, and got pretty much as low as possible. But recently I decided to be positive towards fighting PCOS, and start to see a cure as a possibility rather than an impossibility, I hope you can do the same :) for daily inspiration about overcoming PCOS see my blog overcomingpcos.tumblr.com love Aiyana x
I totally understand- I too suffer from PCOS -Don't have the facial hair issues, but I do have the hair loss!!!! totally sucks!!! Try to stay positive......Keep on keeping on an best of luck to you :))
I think I have pcos. My sister in law is an endocrinologist and she thinks so too. My hair is very very thin and it started thining in my early 20's. I dont have facial hair or acne--thank god!! However, I am unable to lose weight and I am gaining more and more weight even though my diet and excercise is the same. I have regular periods but I get severe pms. I also have skin/nerve issues which is unrelated but maybe not.
Ugh I dont like this and it makes me feel ugly. :(
I feel sad also... This has been running and ruining my life. I'm not seeing the doctor yet because im scared. Im only 11. I had it since i started my period which is at age 10. I'm scared, and i feel like going emo. Since i saw you with your talk, i feel like im not alone. I have sleeping disorders that prevent me from going to school sometimes and, I actually like education. I want to be sucessful and happy with myself. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS. <3
I have every symptom associated with PCOS except hair loss but two doctors dismissed them. It's excruciatingly embarrassing. But then I went to Europe for awhile and realized how much I let PCOS keep me from living . So, I went back to the doctor and got diagnosed. Now I'm taking all the typical medicines and am losing weight. I'm still hung up on the physical havoc PCOS wreaked on my body but I'm working on accepting it. I feel your pain. Do what you can to manage it. Good luck.
No, its not fair...but imagine if u were living your life without the information we have now. Honestly a lot of what pcos is and becomes is our fault...not that we chose to have this problem but how we let it get out of control...pcos can b controlled but bad eating...no exercise...not taking meds lets it ruin our lives...i know thats not the case w everyone but it was w me n most of my friends that have it. Im lucky i have finally gotten to a point in my life where i have stopped blaming this
Thank you for this video. I too suffer with PCOS and I have noticed hair loss, I'm not sure if it's as bad as yours, I don't think so, but my hair used to be super thick years ago. It's thin anymore. :-/ I don't have a ton of unusual hair growth, which I am thankful for. I do have extremely irregular periods, I DON'T ovulate which is a huge thing for me, because in the next couple of years my fiance' and I want to have a baby. It's not an easy illness to deal with. I feel you 100%. :(
I'm in the same boat and I'm 17. It all started when I was younger- my hair went from INCREDIBLY frizzy to exactly like yours- straightened out... and started falling out. No acne, not in middle school or highschool... but now I've got it. My bleeding for my periods skips MONTHS, and when it does happen there's severe cramping. The hair on my neck is gross and ugh.
I'm so sorry. Hopefully you've gotten a bit better since this was posted.
I can totally relate to you on this! Have you been prescribed anything? I went through pcos for over 20 years before i was recently diagnosed, but I haven't been prescribed anything yet. A lot of women are having huge success with metformin (glucophage) My dr mentioned spironalctone and bcp. I hope you feel better soon. Write to me if you need to talk to someone :)
im 16 and i got diagnosed about 4 months ago. i started having all the syptoms you are having when i was 13. i went to doctor after doctor searching for a answer and all they told me was i would grow out of it. and now im 16 and feel awful. i have excess hair, weight issues, ance,i havnt had a period since i was 12, and the list goes on and on. pcos really does take a toll on your life. knowing that im going to have to deal with it for the rest of my life is just alot to handle.
I understand! I went 3 and a half years without a period, in which time, I gained 90 pounds. I was kicked off of my high school dance team because I was too fat and no one believed that there was anything wrong--that I was sneakily chowing down on cakes after school everyday or something. I was diagnosed last month. The thing that has bothered me most is the debilitating depression that accompanies all of these symptoms. I dropped out of college and I don't know where my life is heading anymore.
@ADreamAsLovely usually docs will put you on met, spiro, and bcp, but mine didn't (long story, really dumb actually), and i was planning on asking my primary about spiro. are you having any side effects?
Hi I have been diagnosed with PCOS now for 3 years. I have all your symptoms, except the hairloss. And its very, very frustrating. My question is, does anyone else get sudden sharp stabbing pains in their lower abdomen? It usually goes away in a few seconds. I get these very often and I want to know if its the PCOS or something else.
@islandista25 Yes! My dr says thata lot of women with pcos also develop endometriiosis, which can cause sharp pain all over the abdomen, bladder, bowel area. Have you tried any of the usual (metformin, spiro, bcp?) I'm waiting for lab tests before starting in Oct. and I'm really hoping for some relief.
I hate my facial hair too. I don't feel like a girl sometimes either. It sucks... I shave it, but it's so obvious that I shave it, and I have constant razor burn... I'm glad that I'm not loosing my hair, and I'm very sorry for you.
Im going to try and treat my PCOS with weight loss and metoformin...I have the hair growth on my chin I shave every 3-4 days and I have very thick sideburns...I think im going to it lasered off
Watch your video, I can relate to what your saying and what symtoms and feelings you have, i have nearly all of them, i havent had a period for 2 years, nearly 3 now. at 14 i was skinny as a twig, there is such a difference now, i have sideburns and upper lip hair, i've got the dark patches too which makes me so so depressed about myself. i have the darkpatches too, i hope your ok and all
hoe else does it effect you...i just found out i might have it..for a long time ive been feeling shitty and never had any check ups..i have bad depression and mood swings...and other issues...and to top it off i have a very stressful job taking care of an elderly woman...and i dont know what to do...
I have PCOS too but mine is under control. Here's a tip: start a high protein diet and work out! get your heart rate up! As for the pimples, mine went away once I started working out more. Trust me ladies, this works!
I too have it.I lose and gain weight considerably I have dark patches on my skin called acanthiasis negritude all over my neck under my knees and in my elbows,.in my armpits i cant wwear a decent tank shirt
I have PCOS too and I was diagnosed about 6 years ago. Right now, my main complaint is my hair loss. It is devastating. Does anyone know how to make it stop??? I do notice mood swings as well. It is frustrating. I have been on Metformin for almost 6 years as well.
Does anyone know if PCOS can cause severe anger?? I have PCOS and have been pissed off to the point of beating people up!! I am afraid of going to jail, already have diabetes and high cholesterol from this. CUrrently I take crestor and wechol for my cholesterol. I am SUPPOSED to take homone therapy too but feel it makes me TOO mellow so I stopped and my symptoms are back with a vengence:(
YES anger is a major part of pcos. i have alot of anger issues . even the smallest thing can make my flip out . i'm not as bad as i used to be but it's definitely part of pcos
U r right. It is real & painful & should not be dismissed.
I saw the closeups of ur face when u took the digital shots & don't worry, ur skin is quite clear!
As for the facial hair, look into laser hair removal. I know fam. who did it and r pleased with the results. The laser destroys the hair at its root so it won't return.
Hair loss on the scalp...look into spironalatone. It works against the excess testosterone causing the hair loss. Best of luck.
I know exactly what you're goign through, even though i was just diagnosed yesterday i received a note saying i had PCOS. i know about the hair thing, but up until now, i used to kinda joke about it... now i know it's serious... im only 13, and i have as much hair as my mother who's 59, i have thinning hair, very hairy legs, oily skin, acne, body fat (not bad, i haven't hit the bad part yet, so while im at this stage, im going to work it off), and mild facial hair.
I also have several of the pcos symptoms, but haven't done a bloodtest yet. I'm going on a diet anyway. You say dieting didn't help for you, but which diet did you follow, if I may know? I heard that it's important to follow a diet strictly to cure pcos. I also wonder if you take any drugs (bc pills?), because this may aggravate the disease too, despite that dr's still prescribe it to suppress symptoms.
I think I also have pcos. The most important thing to do is to change your diet. I don't think it's just about eating less, but eating the right foods. No more sugars at all, no white products, a lot more raw foods. Also some have gluten intolerance that may also cause infertility. Drugs are no good either (including BC pills). I read someone had her periods back after 5 weeks by following a strict juicing diet (detoxifying). And also eat only organic foods (no pesticides). Good luck!
I think I have PCOS. I started having alot of the same symptoms as you and I'm afraid to go to the doctors. I'm terrified I'll never have children too and as shallow as this sounds, i'm afraid i'm going to be bald. My hair has basically become a brillo pad and I have noticed my hair line going back on on my scalp.
does pcos cause a person to have times when you just can't stop crying...you feel weepy all the time and you don't know why. Can someone reply please...maybe i am having some kind of breakdown.
If u are loosing hair go to Walmart smartstyle salon or ulta salon and but nioxin. That's the cheapest you will find. It cleases the scalp stimulates blood flow which reproduces hIt growth also holding on to the rest of your hair. I have pcos and my hair came back. #1 you need to see an endocronoligst. Look up my doc. Dr zia has books on this. You need to be on metformin and spironolactin then weight will melt off!!!
I know EXACTLY how you feel! I've been fat all my life and been made to feel like complete sh!t about myself from outside sources and that somehow I'm just lazy and I complain too much.
I was diagnosed with PCOS on May 29, 2009 after years of telling doctors I'm not getting my period somethings wrong and them just telling me it's no big deal lots of women have this issue. Ugh and the hair on my chin. I have to shave like I'm a man!
Being brushed off and made fun of that's what PCOS is.
I was recently diagnosed with the early stages of PCOS. I dont know if you're doctor mentioned this to you or not...but mine suggested following the glycemic index to keep my insulin levels low. If you have PCOS and you produce too much insulin (by eating foods that spike your blood sugar), your body counter acts with producing more testosterone. Its worth giving it a try :)
I have everything that goes with it......and i mean everything. I am now 31yrs. old and have been suffering since i was 19-20 yrs. of age. I totally know what you are feeling. You said it all. It always helps to know that you are not alone.
im the exact same way about the acne! i don't have full blown acne, but you can definitely see it on both of my cheeks and my chin. all through middle school and high school, my skin was clear as hell and then bam, i started breaking out after graduation. my cycle has never been regular. i haven't had a period since last year, but i haven't been diagnosed with pcos since i haven't been to a doc in a long time. im getting more motivation to go see one.
This video is a verbalisation of how I feel every single day. I was diagnosed when I turned 18 and every day I have to deal with it in some way or another, the hair started about a year ago, it does something to a woman to wake up every morning and have to shave her neck and face, to gain weight for no reason I have a lot of pain involved with my cysts, they actually cause me physical pain. :-(
I completely understand how you feel hun. I use to cry and cry wondering why it was happening to me. From being over weight (and I couldnt stop gaining weight) the acne, hair EVERYWHERE, except for my head lol.
I promise you it can get better. Getting the right dr is the main key. I lost 130 lbs, slowly losing the hirsutism {and I had a FULL man beard lol}
If you ever need any one to talk to feel free to email me !
Well I had pcos and i lost the weight and it hasnt come back, My sister works in the nursing field and she told me that the doctors and the nurses treat you alot better if you are not over weight .
PCOS basically turns you into a man. I can't lose weight and my hair was coming out on my pillow. My marriage is basically like a brother and sister. Life really sucks when your fat, hairy and bald!
Thanks for making this video. This is so embarrassing and really hard to talk about. I have it too (just diagnosed today) and have the same symptoms as you except the acne, plus I have a few more you don't have. I think you are very brave to have put this on!
i have the same symptoms and i went to the dermatoligist and he took all these hormonal tests on me and they came back negative......he said its genetic but i dont thinks so bc i have irregular periods never had in the same month since i began puberty i lose soooooooooooo much hair i used to ahve think hair and i have a hard time losing weight. and acne yes i never had that much growing up but now i get alot here and there.....what do u guys think
thanks for your honesty about pcos...it truly sux. i was diagnosed last week, but have had symptoms since 17..i'm 25 now. hang in there and keep your progress posted
this must be what my neighbor has, I have a neighbor she is a teenager. They are from the arab world, and her mom always complains about her daughter being, fat. Her mom complains why she does not try to lose weight. The teenager covers her head, but maybe this is an advantage in this situation if you do bald. I think she must have this, she has hair on her face on her chin, poking out from behind the scarf, she has acne, and she is very heavy.
I cried. You touched me so much. I'm 16 and I just found out and from all of the stories I've read I'm scared out of my mind. I wish I didn't know. I'm also going bald, I have hair all over my face, I shave EVERY single day,I'm becomg overweight VERY fast and life is horrible right now. whay did this have to happen to people like us.
tho ive gained weight ive gotten reg periods back, still some spotting. i might have gotten some hair back on my front area but i dont know 4 sure. i dont see me losing to much hair anymore, a few hair but nothing else.
I'm right there with ya. Mine started when I was 13, and I'm now 22, and your completely right. when your a girl losing hair like a middle aged man and on your way to growing a beard, how exactly are you supposed to feel like a girl. My most valuable pearl of wisdom is to get treatment as soon as possible if you havn't already. From what i've gone through, everything only gets worse if you wait. Never give up hope, and good luck!
I'm 21 now and I have the woMAN-beard going on, and the obesity, and last night feeling my face I just thought "this can't be right" and then stumbled upon PCOS and well...
Watching this, and other girls with this just freaks me out... It is like the same talk I have with MYSELF every day I have to deal with the facial hair and the diets that never seem to work.
Hopefully I'll have a diagnosis and get treatment for the man-hair and my obesity.
My heart breaks for you. I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago. Facial hair, over weight, you name it. It is treatable with a medication called Metformin. I had gastric bypass in 2001 which seemed to get rid of it for me. I was infertile but 14 mos after the surgery, I got pregnant but miscarried. The very next month, I was pregnant with my 4 1/2 yr old son. Talk to your insurance company to see if you are eligible for the surgery, if so, they will usually cover the cost of the it. Good Luck!
I have PCOS i only found out last year when i didn't have a peroid for 9 months and then had one for 3 to 4 months none stop. It was a shock to find out that you have this thing called PCOS and that you can not get pregnant like everyother women is heart breaking. I'm NOT over weight i have ache, sudden weight gain and loss, hair loss and hair growing in strange places. On the internet there is alot about sugar and the improvment it is having if cut out completely on a sufferer of PCOS.
im trying cinnomin pills 500 mgs, 2 to 4 pills a day see if that works on the weight issues. as for teh other issues i only help my body to heal itself: chriopractor reg. :) has helped me gain periods :) hopefully i can have a children naturally :)
you said you dont feel like a woman. I've said this many times before too. My friends dont understand why i get upset when they "jokingly" call me "dyke". I feel like less of a woman, an unattractive women. We'll figure this out. I promise you.
i got type 1 diabetes when i was 8 years old im nearli 19 but i have been diagomised with pcos and mayb that gluten disease..so consuder yourself luki if ur insulin restincene least u actualy produce insulin gurl
Its very common this disorder, I have it. Sorry about the hair loss, something I dont have. I feel for you. Hope you are feeling better. Good news, the symtoms ease off as you get older. x
I can totally relate. It really sucks. Hair where you don't want it, losing hair where you do want it. Not to mention all the other crap. You're not alone.
You are amazing for coming on here and sharing your story with us. It's nice to know I"m not alone in my struggle. I was wondering have you found anything to help your hairloss. If so what have you used?
I feel the same way, my hair is going much faster than I would like. I always wonder why this had to happen to me, at some point in my life I would love to have kids. Not sure if that will ever happen. I feel that people never know what PCOS like, they disregard the symptoms-it really hurts emotionally.
god honey. i understand you completely. my symptoms are not as bad are yours but i will have some. it makes you feel like less than a woman. i agree, spread the word. its not something to mess around with. i honestly think more than 10% of women have it. i know lots of girls that have problems.
Why so angry sweetheart? Someone hurt your feelings? I see your Mom didnt teach you how to spell, but still, if you learn to read, like you have instructed me to, you will see that you replied to me by posting: You need american super seed rooooooooooaaaaaaaaaar.
Giggles at your intelect shining through... ie, leafs, your so fun. You are a trucker with a college degree..??
Lol, that says it all then doesnt it,you went through college, and cant spell let alone get a job that is more involved than driving a truck! Your an insult to any truck driver out there who has a brain and any common sense. I think you need another cuddle... there there, its all right, dont cry now...
lol, yes I thought the redneck comment stung you. Do you need a cuddle now... pooor poor baby. Go tell Mummy. And while your there, ask her to teach you how to spell. And then come back and post again to show us what you have learned. You really are making yourself out to look like a right tool. Oh, and your so right, I started it all, by commenting on someones video and giving them encouragement... LOL. And LOL @ 'Elitist'!!!
Keep up the good work kiddo, your about to pass kindergarten!
InfoBomb, I dont know if you are aware of it or not, but this is a very serious disease that women have that we are discussing here. How about just leaving alone. You have made some very valid and intelligent points, and thats great. But dont be nasty here, theres no need for it.
hey u have just been told i have it to and i understand what ur going throu the hair facial hair is a night mare and i have the weight gain, i have period pains every month ut nothing happens i hate it so much, email me if u wanna chat xxx
I am 29 and suffering the same symptoms, and have tried for a baby for 10 years. I dont know why people dont talk about this more. You are a brave brave girl for sharing your story, you are awesome. Thankyou so much. I think your face summed up all of my feelings at this point in my life, and now I know, there is one person out there that feels how I do.
Thanks so much for posting this you are so beautiful. You don't just have a "pretty face"; you are beautiful. I know exactly how you feel the acne, the weight, the hair growth. As you can see we are out here and thanks for having the strength to talk about the horrible experience of those of us with pcos.
Thank you for this video. I was diagnosed a few days ago, im 19 and I have been having no luck in finding sites that give a decent explanation of it. I dont have the excess hair growth but i do have swollen ovaries, multiple cysts on both of them, and im the same weight. I have anxiety from the weight gain, i havent had my period in 6th months. It makes me feel.. less scared.. I guess knowing that im not the only one feeling these things or who have to deal with all of this.
shae, i can totally relate to everything you just said, i'm 21 and i have PCOS too. the most horrible part is the hair loss, it's driving me crazy and makes me wanna cry everytime i see a girl with full hair on her head. it's really freaking me out. i too dont feel like a girl anymore. i feel like i'm just.. something.
thanks for making this video it helped me so much to see that someone my age has exactly the same feelings.
sending you many hugs from europe!you're not alone!
This video reminds me that people need to stop judging books by its cover, and realize that not everything in life is black, white, or even grey. I might not have PCOS, but I am no stranger to having your body wage war within itself. My family, or at least my mother's side, is cured with problems relating to the lovely female parts (uterus, ovaries, etc.). BTW, diets don't work for a various of reasons. If anything, I recommend eating healthy and exercising. (Still, I'm a slave to chocolate.)
i just came across this post, watching it was like listening to myself, i go through the same things daily, i'm 22 now and the hair growth on my face is much worse and i have a bold spot. its sad, so much is unknown about PCOS, ur right it isn't fair, i stopped having periods, i gained so much weight in a year. i feel like i walk thru the world w/ my head down. ppl don't know about the emotional affects it has on you, it affects ur daily moods. thanks for posting
Same with me. My only symptoms were the hair loss and acne. I was losing 300-500 hairs a day. I had to cut my hair short because it was so thin. It's starting to grow back now that I'm treating my PCOS but it's so slow and nowhere near how it used to be.
im 19 w/ pcos...i have the SAME probs as u do & it totally sux
& for those who get prescribed w/ meds r luky cuz i have no money or insurance-i culd possibly even hav ovarian cancer 4rm this but wholl kno-i was wrongly diagnosed-my ped. told me it was kidney probs & i was just fat...well i went 2 my dermatologist & he said rite off the bat-PCOS! got blood work dun & he was rite
You actually have a very pretty face. I totally understand what you are going through since I was diagnosed w/ PCOS 3 yrs ago. I tried dieting and birth control with no success. Honestly for the hair growth, I am getting laser treatments that have helped SO MUCH, I barely have anything on my face. As for the weight issue, I have done the south beach diet (hard as hell) but it works because we w/ pcos are carb sensative. My doc put me on metformin and altactone which helps with ALL the symptoms.
Aaw. You're so beautiful! You - the person behind PCOS. Don't feel ugly, because you're not. And I really do mean that. Thanks for sharing this video. :) Lots of hugs!
It's so not fair! I am 20 and weigh 270 and also have a beard and am losing hair. I have no insurance so they are still trying to diagnos it. I have had acne since 1at grade!!!! I feel gross too! Thanbks for posting this!!
I too have PCOS.I never had a regular period without Birth COntrol and I started menstruating at 10yrs.I am way heavier than when I was a teenager;115 as to my recent 170.I am so happy that there are others going through the same thing as me.I don't feel like so much of an alien.I never would have thought videos about PCOS would be on YouTube but I figured I'd give it a try.Luckily for me I was able to get pregnant once.I was 20 and was on Birth Control at the time.
Eat Whole Grains and cut out refined starches and sugars.. I have it too.. You can keep it relatively under control.. Dont complain about it.. Do something about it..
There are plenty of support groups online for it..
Cafe venting about PCOS is therapuetic and brave of this young girl. Not everyone can control through diet alone. Varying degrees of disease. Some can't afford all meds no insurance. Some women are afraid to see a doctor due to the horrible side effects the testosterone gives them. Maybe it would help to be a bit more compassionate as it takes a lot for someone to come on Youtube and share the pain and suffering they are going through.
I wasnt being insensitive.. I was just offering helpful suggestions to possibly control it.. As I said, I have PCOS as well.. I have the hirsutism and the weight prob.. Currently looking into a boob reduction.. I am a believer in doing something about your problems instead of complaining about it. I am tired of people complaining about things and not actually doing something about it.. Knowledge is power. Now that you know what you have; Do something about it.. I am!!!!
Try to remember she is only 19. And realise the heading of the vid... 'My PCOS Rant'. Dont read it if you dont want to know about it. I havent eaten refined sugars or starches in over 15 years. I eat nothing but whole grains... hasnt helped me 1 iota. This vid has helped quite a few people, and sometimes posting 'suggestions' isnt the right way about it.
Ok, so what detox are you on, how long for and what does it involve? I have a very healthy and balanced diet of Fruit and Veg, no junk, no bread, no white sugar or processed crap... So I dont know how I could have toxic damage from a healthy diet. Is it a proven cure that your talking about? where can I find some info on it? Thanks!
Sorry, I have another few questions, I hope you dont mind. you said you are almost PCOS Free, so are you having hormonal blood tests done on a regular basis? Has this detox you are on affected your insulin resistance? Are you able to ovulate naturally? It would be great news to alot of women if you could let us know. Simply because there are so many women taking more chemicals, such as the pill, to try to band-aid the symptoms, which is a problem in itself. Thanks again.
first of all theres no real set answer as to what CAUSES pcos. We know what pcos dose and that is the imbalance in hormones and the insulin resistance but it's been thought that when we were developing as embryos that ou mothers were exposed to toxins or some sort of outside element that changed us and effected the way our body's work. Try doing some research before you try correcting people.
makes me b a real bitch if i dont eat reg or hungry, depressed, PMS when i wasnt ever getting periods constant PMS, over weight no matter how much i "dieted"(ate well ballenced portioned meals) or exersised
I have PCOS and feel the same way. It has got to the point, that I hate looking at myself in the mirror. I hate going out to social events because what PCOS has done to my body and my self esteem.
Thank You soooo much. I am 19 too and I have PCOS and have known about it scince I was 17. I dont feel as alone when I hear about other young women with the same problems I have so thank you sooo much
so i dont really know if it is helping but it feels good that i am doing something about my problem.i also take saw palmetto, this is a berry that grows naturally and you take in the form of a tablet,
hello, everyone out there with the horrible symptons of pcos.ive had it since i was 23 and i am now 41. i have used all sorts of stuff to try and remove the facial hair from razors to tweezers, to cream wax and anything else i can get my hands on.i now use a facial eppilator, and have recently purchased a rio laser machine, ive only used it a few times
I'm 18 years old and have all the same symptoms. My mother's taking me to the doctor soon and we're almost 100% positive that I have PCOS. Skin tags, abnormal hair growth, hair loss, periods every 2-4 months, weight gain and severe cramping. I'm very, very sorry that you and all the women on here who have posted have to go through this. :/ Why can't men get it instead, Lol.
Hirsutism has been the worst part of it for me...its not really bad, but its enough to make you feel down about yourself, y'know? Also, not being able to loose weight even when eating so healthy and being really active. No one really understands except for very few doctors and other women with PCOS. Trying to explain it to anyone else has been completely useless. They think its just another fat girl bitching. Not true.
I've been dealing with PCOS for 6 years. I've been having facial hair since I was in the 7th grade so you already know what my life was like lol! I'm 26 now and I learned to deal with it. Its way you can get around having this disorder. Get someone to conrow your hair and add like 4 to 5 tracks (weave). Your hair is braided down in the back so its not a big problem. There are ALL kinds of products on the market for removing facial hair.
I have it too, it made Doctors believe I was insane, they thought I was making up the pains I was having. I was depressed I gained alot of weight, I've lost alot now though. I was diagnosed when I was 13 and I have suffered since. It scared me, I never used to get spots either, I know how you feel. Thank you for speaking out syndrome sister xxx
I have been complaining of my symptoms since I was 13 and my regular doctor told me that they were all caused by my being overweight. It has taken nearly seven years to get someone to listen and believe that this is real. I never thought anyone else would ever have made their doctors believe that they were making it up when this is real.
Thank you for posting this video, it makes me feel less alone.
Thank you very much for your video!! I also have PCOS and the same things as you... It is hard to make people understand what i'm going through. For instance once I went to the doctor and I told him I was diagnosed with PCOS and he said "no you don't have that, your face looks so smoth" and I said "is because I have to get rid of the hair everyday", and then he grab my face to inspect it closer. I felt so bad!! I felt like a rat from a lab!
Thank you for putting this video up. I know what your going through and I understand your pain. I've been diagnosed with PCOS for a year now.. and it really hurt me when I found out. But don't worry you'll make it through and tomorrow is always a better day. Just smile.
Thanks again for putting this up. It will touch the lives of women who suffer from PCOS.
Thank you for making this video. You did such a great job describing it. It is so hard to live with this and so many people know nothing about it. I am 39 was diagnosed in late 80's with PCOS. I am married and have had no success with infertility. Find a specialist now. Metformin, low GI diet, and exercise are the keys. Do not give up on getting what you need and learn as much as you can about it. Most importantly love yourself and be around people who make you feel good about yourself. Peace 2U
i've got all the same symptoms as you - im 22 - its left me with no self esteem because it all started when i was 15. ive got an anxiety disorder because of bullying. pcos is a horrible disease

I completely understand what you are going through. I was diagnosed after my husband and I tried for a baby for about 5 years. I could not lose weight and I have hair everywhere! I shave everything! I always pushed off going to the doctor, which ended up being a huge mistake. The PCOS ended up causing some polyps on my uterus I had to have removed in surgery. I am now on Metformin for it and we hope to get pregnant soon.I was on my period every day of the year. Good luck!
I totally feel for you girl. I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 2 years ago. I have the hair growth, thinning hair, weight gain, and the worst...infertility. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for 2 1/2 years and nothing has happened. Just stick in there, it is all gonna work out!
Sorry you have to read my comments from the bottom up. I had so much to say I had to cut it. I didn't think intill after that it would not be in the right order.
How come they never told me!!!!! :( Of corse I am sad that I might not be able to have kids. Is their a cure. I am so sad for everyone who has this. I have read stories and my heart hurts for them and you. I know what you are going threw.
My problem is I have to much hair. It would be devistating to be balding though. I feel for you. I really do.Then I get mad how come doctors never told me that I might have this? I have talked to them and they never told me abouth this. They always say take birthcontrol pills. But I do want to have kids. I knew there has to be something else besides the pill. I am so mad they never even sugested that that I might have this. They just say it' ok if you are irregular.
My husband even thinks it is something eles. He said you do not eat that much how come you have gained so much weight? I think something is wrong. How come I am getting fasial hear ? I am not experiencing hair loss.
I have gained so much weight threwout the yrs. I just thought it was me. I get so fustrated. Thinking how come I have gained so much weight? How come I am the heaviest one in my family? How come I can't lose all the extra weight? How come I have irrigular periods? How come I haven't had a kid yet? I have been with my husband for 12 yrs.
Thank You so much for the video. You are brave going on here sharring your story. My heart goes out to you. I think I have the PCOS too. I have to go to the doctor and find out for sure. I realy think I have it though. I have so many emotions about it. A part of me is sad, mad, confused. A am happy to see that I can finaly call it something.
I know how you feel. I've been battling the symptoms for about 5 years now (I'm 23) and I had lost weight for a while and got down to about 130 and then out of nowhere gained 60 pounds. Finally (Thank God), I got to an endo who put me on metformin and I've lost about 25-30 pounds and my cycle is somewhat normalizing. I still have the hair growth and sometimes I just cry for no reason at all due to all the hormonal problems but I'm getting through it. People don't realize how difficult it can be.
I know you didn't ask for advice, but you should look into the raw food diet. I guess it doesn't technically cure PCOS, but it cleared up all of my symptoms.
Thank you for your video. I too have PCOS. I completed a twelve day program of Prometrium 200 mg taking two pills before bedtime. My cycle is suppose to come on by Monday. Wish me luck. I am married to a wonderful man and all we want is to have a baby. We with PCOS have to support one another.
I really appreciate that you had the guts to make this video. I am currently seeking a diagnosis and treatment for whatever condition it is that I have. PCOS has been ruled out, but I have all of your symptoms except the weight gain. My hair started falling out really badly at age 22, and I've had hair on my face since age 17. I try to pluck every morning, but it is now unmanageable. Thank you for making this video about the impact of your symptoms. You're not alone!
The hair growth all over the chin and neck is so gross I tried to shave it, grew back thicker; pluck it, get ingrown hairs that hurt and make sores. My hair is dark and thick already I am part Cherokee Indian so it is noticed. The other day my bosses kid says hey why do you have a beard? WHAT? A BEARD! It is embarrasing if I haven't taken care of it in a while. I have a busy life as I am sure most of you do that is not my #1 concern.
I have not been diagnosed. I am 22yrs. old. PCOS runs in my family. My hair is so thick that you can't tell I am losing it. I just recently got my hair cut short. I had 14in. cut off, so it wouldn't look like I was losing so much in the shower. I struggle with it every day.
IT'S SOMETHING THAT I HATE ALSO... I came here thinking that it was just me, but now I see that the 10% of women who suffer through this is right here and the support I need is all here... contact me!
I know exactly what you are going through. I'm 32, have thining hair, I could make a wig with what comes out when i wash my hair!!! Can't shift the weight and need IVF to have kids - this truly does suck!!!
i'm in the same boat too, it sucks to have this syndrome, you are not alone! i'm from the UK here, i've had it since i was 13 and i am now 24, i get regular periods but i get all the rest of the symptoms, extra thick black hairs and acne too. you should try the low carb diet, that seems to get rid of the weight fast and i lost 4 stone from this diet.
Thank you. I have it, my doctor called it PCOD she said that it was a disease. I know what you mean. That it's nearly impossible to lose anything. hang in there sista!
I started to cry watching your video. I'm 24 and I have struggled with PCOS since I was 13. I have had only 1 period in the past 2 years, and I have to shave my face every day. I always have acne so I wear makeup when I go out. I'm on metformin now to treat it but it's been 2 months and it hasn't done anything yet. It's a terrible illness and the word needs to get out about it!
I also have PCOS. Was diagnosed a month ago. But have been dealing with the hair loss and hair growth problems for a long time. I don't have you type of hair growth though. But I do have your type of hair loss on my head. It's very frustrating. I've reached my breaking point with the Metformin. It's making me very ill. I was told to stop taking them for a week. But thank you for sharing your experience with me. I know how you feel. And it's like no one understands.
Hi. I'm 22 and I have PCOS....I don't like the way they are treating mine. I have all the same problems as you and I was curious as to what kind of medicine you are taking. Have you taken metformin? I want to get on that.... I hate PCOS!
You are a beautiful girl don't let PCOS take that away from you. I have PCOS! I a 27yr 200lbs girl. I was a 110lb girl! Now I am fighting weight gain and hair growth! I diet and it is hard but you have stay focused to see results! I use face cream hair removers they are not as harsh on your face as waxing. I have to do it every 2dys but its the price we pay! The hair loss I experience too, Consult your hairdresser for some tips. Keep positive thats the key! You are more than PCOS!

I get these very often and I want to know if its the PCOS or something else.
islandista25 1 year ago

Does anyone know if PCOS can cause severe anger?? I have PCOS and have been pissed off to the point of beating people up!! I am afraid of going to jail, already have diabetes and high cholesterol from this. CUrrently I take crestor and wechol for my cholesterol. I am SUPPOSED to take homone therapy too but feel it makes me TOO mellow so I stopped and my symptoms are back with a vengence:(
grettagrids 2 years ago
YES anger is a major part of pcos. i have alot of anger issues . even the smallest thing can make my flip out . i'm not as bad as i used to be but it's definitely part of pcos
natesmom2244 1 year ago
Best of luck.

is PCOS really the leading cause of infertility. I have kallmanns syndrome and I CANT get pregnant without taking hormones :S

I also wonder if you take any drugs (bc pills?), because this may aggravate the disease too, despite that dr's still prescribe it to suppress symptoms.
dromycatcher 2 years ago

Nioxin for hairloss.
natalie77377 2 years ago
If u are loosing hair go to Walmart smartstyle salon or ulta salon and but nioxin. That's the cheapest you will find. It cleases the scalp stimulates blood flow which reproduces hIt growth also holding on to the rest of your hair. I have pcos and my hair came back. #1 you need to see an endocronoligst. Look up my doc. Dr zia has books on this. You need to be on metformin and spironolactin then weight will melt off!!!
natalie77377 2 years ago
I know EXACTLY how you feel! I've been fat all my life and been made to feel like complete sh!t about myself from outside sources and that somehow I'm just lazy and I complain too much.
I was diagnosed with PCOS on May 29, 2009 after years of telling doctors I'm not getting my period somethings wrong and them just telling me it's no big deal lots of women have this issue. Ugh and the hair on my chin. I have to shave like I'm a man!
Being brushed off and made fun of that's what PCOS is.
TinkerBebe 2 years ago
I was recently diagnosed with the early stages of PCOS. I dont know if you're doctor mentioned this to you or not...but mine suggested following the glycemic index to keep my insulin levels low. If you have PCOS and you produce too much insulin (by eating foods that spike your blood sugar), your body counter acts with producing more testosterone. Its worth giving it a try :)

im the exact same way about the acne! i don't have full blown acne, but you can definitely see it on both of my cheeks and my chin. all through middle school and high school, my skin was clear as hell and then bam, i started breaking out after graduation. my cycle has never been regular. i haven't had a period since last year, but i haven't been diagnosed with pcos since i haven't been to a doc in a long time. im getting more motivation to go see one.

umbrellasaltysalmon 2 years ago 6
I completely understand how you feel hun. I use to cry and cry wondering why it was happening to me. From being over weight (and I couldnt stop gaining weight) the acne, hair EVERYWHERE, except for my head lol.
I promise you it can get better. Getting the right dr is the main key. I lost 130 lbs, slowly losing the hirsutism {and I had a FULL man beard lol}

this must be what my neighbor has, I have a neighbor she is a teenager.

Never give up hope, and good luck!
immortalitylost 3 years ago
Mine started at 11, and it's only gotten worse.

Good Luck!

I'm NOT over weight i have ache, sudden weight gain and loss, hair loss and hair growing in strange places. god honey. i understand you completely. my symptoms are not as bad are yours but i will have some. it makes you feel like less than a woman. i agree, spread the word. its not something to mess around with. i honestly think more than 10% of women have it. i know lots of girls that have problems.

I'm sitting in the same boat as you, as are many women.

You have really hit the nail on the head.

AuntyHatred 3 years ago
Lol, that says it all then doesnt it,you went through college, and cant spell let alone get a job that is more involved than driving a truck! Your an insult to any truck driver out there who has a brain and any common sense. I think you need another cuddle... there there, its all right, dont cry now...
LOL, you are so entertaining though.
AuntyHatred 3 years ago
lol, yes I thought the redneck comment stung you.

Hey georgeous,
You are not alone, please remember that.
Love and hugs to you. Your beautiful.

I feel your pain. I have PCOS and my hair loss is my worst symptom. It's a HORRIBLE feeling. I understand.
rwunderlich13 3 years ago
Same with me. My only symptoms were the hair loss and acne. I was losing 300-500 hairs a day. I had to cut my hair short because it was so thin. It's starting to grow back now that I'm treating my PCOS but it's so slow and nowhere near how it used to be.

There are plenty of support groups online for it..
cafefanatik 3 years ago
Cafe venting about PCOS is therapuetic and brave of this young girl. Not everyone can control through diet alone. Varying degrees of disease. Some can't afford all meds no insurance. Some women are afraid to see a doctor due to the horrible side effects the testosterone gives them. Maybe it would help to be a bit more compassionate as it takes a lot for someone to come on Youtube and share the pain and suffering they are going through.
utubeuser1971aok 3 years ago
I wasnt being insensitive.. I was just offering helpful suggestions to possibly control it.. As I said, I have PCOS as well.. I have the hirsutism and the weight prob.. Currently looking into a boob reduction.. I am a believer in doing something about your problems instead of complaining about it. I am tired of people complaining about things and not actually doing something about it.. Knowledge is power. Now that you know what you have; Do something about it.. I am!!!!
cafefanatik 3 years ago
Try to remember she is only 19. And realise the heading of the vid... 'My PCOS Rant'. Dont read it if you dont want to know about it. I havent eaten refined sugars or starches in over 15 years. I eat nothing but whole grains... hasnt helped me 1 iota. This vid has helped quite a few people, and sometimes posting 'suggestions' isnt the right way about it.
AuntyHatred 3 years ago
Yes, eating whole grains/staying away from refined starches and sugars is good.. That is controlling the symptoms..not curing the source.
The whole cause of PCOS is TOXIC DAMAGE.
The Cure for PCOS/other diseases is DETOX.
Stay away from food additives and other toxic products.
I am detoxing and it is working. I am almost PCOS free.
I am not complaining anymore. I had/have PCOS. However, I did something about it and it is working.
I dare you to do the same!!!
cafefanatik 3 years ago
Ok, so what detox are you on, how long for and what does it involve? I have a very healthy and balanced diet of Fruit and Veg, no junk, no bread, no white sugar or processed crap... So I dont know how I could have toxic damage from a healthy diet. Is it a proven cure that your talking about? where can I find some info on it? Thanks!
AuntyHatred 3 years ago
Sorry, I have another few questions, I hope you dont mind. you said you are almost PCOS Free, so are you having hormonal blood tests done on a regular basis? Has this detox you are on affected your insulin resistance? Are you able to ovulate naturally? It would be great news to alot of women if you could let us know. Simply because there are so many women taking more chemicals, such as the pill, to try to band-aid the symptoms, which is a problem in itself. Thanks again.
AuntyHatred 3 years ago
Um... toxid damage does not cause PCOS. It's testosterone or insulin resistance or both.
angiebaratta 3 years ago
first of all theres no real set answer as to what CAUSES pcos. We know what pcos dose and that is the imbalance in hormones and the insulin resistance but it's been thought that when we were developing as embryos that ou mothers were exposed to toxins or some sort of outside element that changed us and effected the way our body's work. Try doing some research before you try correcting people.

:/ Why can't men get it instead, Lol.

nappystar25 4 years ago
I can relate completely.

Peace 2U

Good luck!

I have talked to them and they never told me abouth this. They always say take birthcontrol pills. But I do want to have kids. I knew there has to be something else besides the pill. I am so mad they never even sugested that that I might have this. They just say it' ok if you are irregular.
