  • i just found out that satoshi kon is dead i hope his final work dream machine get animated in his style we will never see such a genius again. T-T

  • yes! i googled it and it was directed by satoshi kon i knew I've seen that distinctive art style somewhere I've loved all of his films to date.

  • i know this anime style its the same as tokyo god fathers and millennium actress both are incredibly good I'm off to watch it bye!!!!

  • Paprika and Susumu is great!!!!

  • If you guys like this I suggest Perfect Blue, also made by Satoshi Kon.

  • This probably the best example of "dream logic" I've ever seen. Everything makes sense, in a weird way.

One of the best animated films of all time, in my opinion.

  • for some reason i understood paprika more than i understood paranoia agent

  • This movie got an awesome OST.

  • This music is like nutrition for my soul, feeding creativity.

  • I'm not saying Inception completely ripped off Paprika, because they are a lot different. But people who fawn over how *revolutionary* and *original* Inception is could be informed that Paprika was prrrrrooooobably the inspiration for it, considering the similarities of dream levels, entering dreams with devices, and the way a dream reacts to a person depends on who's dreaming. All in all, no "conceptual infringement" involved, just a few similarities that could be payed attention to.

  • @arlechinnojr

I regard both of Paprika and Inception as it being an innovative movie.

    I like both.

The original of paprika is the SF novel announced in 1993.

(The series to a magazine was started in 1991. )

An author's name is Yasutaka Tsutsui.

He is a novelist who is very popular in Japan.

The portrait of a novel is complicated and its story is deeper than this anime.

If an English edition is found, I will recommend it to you.

  • @arlechinnojr actually, if you go read the Wiki for Inception, the director did state he was inspired by Paprika. ;)

  • @happy10181 Christopher Nolan Admitted he was inspired by this work by Satoshi?......If mr. Kon was still alive today. i'd think he'd be pretty happy with the end result.

    I love this world

  • This movie was absolutely WEIRD

  • @ToFiiiii Its because its about dreams and they created the visuals before they tried to formulate the story. The only thing that made sense to me was the cop's dream-therapy just because I understand the psychology of internal conflict resolution.

  • When i watch a Hayao Miyazaki or Satoshi Kon movie my spirit instantly lifts I become so happy and satisfied.

  • ♥je kiffn la ♫musique et j'adore se mangas !

  • mind fuck

  • Super Jardore !

  • does this movie have any nudity or disturbing content, like most anime

  • @xbox3shity Nudity... I don't think so. Disturbing content, definitely !!!

  • @xbox3shity There's a bit of nudity, but it's anime nudity. Barbie-lower parts, but breasts with nipples. Also some disturbing stuff definitely.

  • what a mind fuck

  • Miyazaki and This guy are Amazing!!!

  • @WiggleTick - He is, but unfortunately Satoshi Kon died from cancer last year. He was only 47 :( He has one more movie coming out that is being finished in his absence though I think it's geared towards children.

  • AHHHHHHHHHH! when she snaps her fingers at 1:09 my computer froze!! PAPRIKA IS REAL AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • shes a dreamer it seems ^^

  • How many of you knew that this is all computers. I watched the commentary and its awesome!!

  • 5 years before the night mare

  • Too Much Sayonora + Kunoichiwa= Sonoroichiwa hmm.

Ear Whig in the ear for dirty sex and rank! If you don't screw (earwhig) what is the penalty ,or not dating different dates who can't win the box! Lots of Saw 3D Movies, Japanese IRS, IRA, NOES 2010, Scream IV, The Darkest Hour, Underworld IV you have to earn your clothes than your gun and keep!

  • Man, I so want to get those awesome tracks from this anime.

  • このOP大好き

  • this movie wus Soooo weird, but suprisingly freakishly awesome

    :)

  • RIP Satoshi Kon =(

  • Inception: spend millions invested into special effects and staging.

Paprika: uses simple drawing medium, making imagination the only limit of the movie's creativity.

Clear example of why I love animation.

  • 今監督、早すぎます。。。

  • This is the most accurate representation of a dream I've ever seen. I've done some of these things.

  • Am I the only one that thinks 1:03 is a reference to the Paranoia Agent intro?

  • @scatmanfan2 you are not alone

  • I didn't really get this anime but I like the opening

  • This is the wierdest fucking shit I've ever seen!

Why can't my brain stop orgasming!

  • I normally despise anime, but I know a good movie when I see one.

  • I want to freeze time like at 1:11! *pouts*

  • A great anime coming from a legendary director.

    RIP Satoshi Kon

  • Oh of the best openings I've ever seen

  • Comment removed

  • aww damn. I've just discovered one of my friends has a keen resemblance to Paprika (Ridiculously large eyes, short cropped red hair, carefree personality, likes anime). Well, never gonna look at her the same way again.

  • @P00PD0G89

    date her !

  • @P00PD0G89 And I know man similar to character at the beginning

  • I like how the characters have different facial features.

  • Does this song remind anyone else of the opening of Paranoia Agent?

  • @TheF8thless Because both were made by Susumu Hirasawa. :D

  • @TheF8thless Because it's the same singer, Susumu Hirasawa. He did the intro to Paranoia Agent and the Berserk theme ~FORCES~

  • @TheF8thless ... Satoshi Kon did this and Paranoia Agent. The music in this and Paranoia Agent were done by the same person. :v

  • @TheF8thless it's by the same person Hirasawa Susumu.

  • @TheF8thless It's the same music artist.

  • @TheF8thless The creator's the same iirc

  • @TheF8thless It's made by Susumu Hirasawa, the guy who made the soundtrack for berserk and paranoia agent, listen to "Berserk - Forces", his stuff is amazing.

  • @TheF8thless songs from paranoia agent and paprika were wrote by the same person

  • @TheF8thless

Did you not know they were both made by Susumu Hirasawa?

  • @TheF8thless both are songs by Susumu Hirasawa

  • Comment removed

  • @TheF8thless This movie is by the same man who made Paranoia Agent and Susumu Hirasawa is the same music artist he had work on both Paprika and PA.

  • @TheF8thless yes ;D

  • Comment removed

  • @TheF8thless its because its by the same people

  • @TheF8thless the theme is from the composer. Susumu Hirasawa. Also known by the Berserk OP theme. Paranoia Agent and Paprika where created almost at the same time. I believe that Satoshi Kon said that "Paranoia Agent" was an idea that came while he was doing Paprika. Or was it the other way around? :)

  • @TheF8thless Satoshi Kon created both.

  • @TheF8thless It's by the same dude.

  • the opening is one of the best parts,i think

  • Kon and Hirasawa They live in the future.

  • Man, this movie was so terrifying, weird, invigorating, inspiring, and most of all, heartwarming.

Also as a sidenote: If you think about it, Klonoa and NiGHTS are actually real. I think that's awesome.

  • Does anyone know where i can find this song for download ? Or what it is called ?

  • @MrGforce69 Susumu Hirasawa Meditation Field

  • @MrGforce69 or Susumu Hirasawa - The Girl inByakkoya they are both linking to the more or less the same thing; except meditation field will yield more Paprika.

  • @MrGforce69 L2Google

  • Does anyone know where i can find this song for download ?

  • Satoshi Kon, you made the best burgers... EVER!

  • This was when I knew the movie was going to be one of the trippiest and one of the best animated movies ever.

  • She's skipping like the fake Mimi from Perfect Blue... that creeps me out a bit.

Anyway, why haven't I watched this movie yet???

  • @zevex747 good question... i just did and its awsome!

  • @zevex747 you should watch before you dead, xD

  • OMG so much imaginativety in 1 movie :OOO

  • This was actually my favorite scene in the movie :)

  • I wish I could play with reality like that...

  • Just because "Paprika" and "Inception" both deal with the concept of entering the dreams of others, the movies aren't alike at all. It's ridiculous to compare the two because it's like saying that "Dragon Heart" and "How to Train Your Dragon" are the same because they both have dragons in them. There is the possibility that Inception was inspired by this movie but there isn't any conceptual infringement here. They are different. That's all.

  • @RacialStereotype Just like people think that matrix is based in the movie ghost in the shell, but they are different.

  • @RacialStereotype Agreed. Plus this one is better =3=.

  • Inception is was actually based off of this. Well this and a few other things, but mainly this.

  • FANTASTIC. AMAZING. WONDERFUL. SATOSHI KON. AWESOME. SUPER.

  • 5 years before inception :)

  • This opening is so kickass, as is the movie :D I love the character of Paprika, she's such a strong woman in a way.

  • Gives me chills.

  • paprika=inception

  • @Cirno0009 Avatar=Disney movie Pochahontas

  • @12345678909269 Avatar<Pochahontas

  • @Cirno0009 More like Paprika>Inception.

  • I think that this film is worth the price it's set at on iTunes, at least in the UK anyway.

  • lovely film and how the fact paprika herself was kind of suffering with dual personality.. but was lovely she found herself and fell in love with the chubby guy.

  • RIP

  • BEST♥ANIME♥MOVIE♥EVER

    R.I.P. Satoshi Kon :))

    Susumu Hirasawa =>MUSICAL GENIUS

  • 0:13 sounds like lola from vocaloid almost.....

  • The whole time I was watching this, my mouth was wide open in complete amazement. I never watched this and I can see why people relate this to Inception.

  • @dinasty123123 Actually its because the guy who created inception was inspired by this film. Which is why inception even exists.

  • @KittyTR Please don't tell me that you got that from Wiki. If he did get inspired from this, then WOW I guess America can't make their own original movie huh? :l

  • @dinasty123123 they cant actually and it does seem very likely he got idea from this

  • @dinasty123123 No i didn't get it from wiki. I got it from an online interview where he refered to Paprika as his inspiration to his film "Inception".

  • @KittyTR If you don't mind me asking, which interview does "he" say that he got the idea of "inception" from the movie "paprika"? And by "he" do you mean Chris Nolan?

  • Comment removed

  • To me, the scene between 0:47 and 0:58 suggests the artist's creation showing up to comfort the "artist" -- a composite of Kon and his team -- who spent many a night catching a bit of sleep at a computer monitor.

It's a beautiful, human touch, and why I really love Kon's work. Japan needs you more than ever now.

  • @yabits I never thought of that, but it totally makes sense.

  • @yabits If you also notice, in that scene she was wearing the clothes of his wife as shown in the pictures around his desk.

  • inception will be a huge slap in the fucking face for ripping off this original anime!

  • @TheDepressed100

So this anime is about dreams? I've never even heard of it till today.

  • @TheDepressed100 honestly, aside from going into dreams (which honestly is not that difficult of an idea to come up with), the two are really not alike at all. The anime is a helluva lot better though =P

  • Comment removed

  • if this was entirely original, i will be amazed

  • God, I love that shot where she jumps into the guy's Tshirt. Bitchin' cinematography there.

  • 0:27 scout rocket!

  • Can't for "The Dream Machine" ( or Yume-miru kikai) to premiere. Truly, a master of filmmaking has left us...

  • AHHH MY GOD THIS IS LIKE EAR SEX

  • @nokineeded EARS AN ' EYES SEX

  • didn't Satoshi do like 3 movies?

  • @gohindha89 Four and a tv series. The fifth movie is coming this year.

  • one of the best openings I have ever seen in a movie... the song really makes the magic!

  • Magic! This is what I was looking for. Though the sound is bad thanks anyway!

  • Magic! This is what I was lookng for. Though the sound is bad thanks anyway!

  • This sequence perfectly encapsulates what a talent we lost with Satoshi Kon's death. This kind of visual imagination is what animation is perfectly suited for, and it's a shame more directors (especially in America) don't realize that.

  • R.I.P Mr.Satoshi..

  • BAH INCEPTION. this movie should've been the one on the big screen...

  • @xopenheartx

    YES...thank you!

  • Did anyone else try to go to "Radioclub.jpg"?

  • @Quagsquire

    I tried

  • Man i love this movie, rest in peace Satoshi.

  • He dead???? but his films its great >_< rest peace

  • Satoshi said he want do make even ten movies... since he said this, he made only two... A genius has left us and his dream couldn't come true R.I.P Satoshi Kon :'(

    Excuse my bad english :(

  • @BlueButterflySoubi :Actually he made more then two- I think he made at least three: Perfect Blue, Paprika, and Tokyo Godfathers. And a T.V. series: Paranoia Agent.

  • @Truffle85 Really?? Since he said he would make even ten? I thought I read that he only make two, but I hadn't search if it's true...^^ But even if he made more than two, he didn't make ten, so his dream doesn't come true...

i hope you understand what I mean. i think my English isn't really good... ^^

  • @BlueButterflySoubi

I never knew he wanted to make 10 films or productions.

But he didn't only make 2 films. He made 4 films...and another film was being made but he passed away.

He made Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika.

He created an anime series called Paranoia Agent as well.

And THIS YEAR (2011) another film by him "The Dream Machine" is coming out.

  • name of the song??? pleaseee

  • @sohoxxx69 The girl in Byakkoya by Susumu Hirasawa is it's official name but it is also known simply as Paprika's theme

  • @sohoxxx69

    It's called Nigeru Mono.

  • Satoshi Kon is a bit of an acquired taste, but I think all anime fans should a least give him a try even if his works are definitely a bit more obtuse, and will leave some people just scratching their heads.

  • @misterogers

people scratchinig their heads at this are morons

  • i love the soundtrack to this movie! but some songs sound so similar they're almost the same

  • You can find the translated version of satoshi kon's last words on his wikipedia page near the bottom.

  • I wish real life was like this! xD

  • @KartoRomixo don't we all ^.^...this song so happy sounding ,but i still tear up when i hear it....good bye satoshi kon....

  • The best!

  • Well fuck me, I did NOT know Satoshi Kon died... and 6 days before my birthday... fuck ... that fucking sucks.

  • @Surathan 6 days before your bd and only one day after mine...I felt so sad. I'm still feeling sad, because I've been feeling so alone since the day he died. He was a great artist!

  • @yukinon89 He was a great man.

    He will be missed.

Thankfully he lives on in the films he made

  • this is good movie :D

  • inception anime...

  • Inception was made four years after this. The only similarity between the two is people going into others' dreams. I honestly think they're both great movies.

  • ...inception...

  • @nguyent139 ..yeah.

  • That song is lodged in my brain and will not get out!

  • You know wish Radioclub was a real site

  • @jimmmjones I think if you were to combine Inception's powerful story and Paprika's visuals, it would have claimed the top movie of the year hands down.

  • I'm not asleep right now am I?

  • @PoeticNightmare You never know... :)

  • @TheTinkle Would explain all this crazy stuff happening. xP

  • We will miss you, Satoshi Kon </3

You were amazing. This song, will always make me think of him, Always.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Satoshi :(

His Movies will live on forever. <3
