  • he is SOOOOO SEXXXXXY!

    damn!

God really took his time on this one <3

  • Im a big fan of Dangelo, i love all his songs but this my favorite live performance.

Everyone on stage was perfect and D oeh he is feeling it and singing so good, must have seen this a 100 times. Im gonna see him live in Amsterdam!!!

  • putting all these people on stage does not guarantee anything. there is way too much going on. this is a lyric driven song and all i can hear are a bunch of stupid horns. and all these unecessary drum fills and organs. there are too many instruments. They are BUTCHERING this song. And where is the pain in dangelos voice. he is just singing the way he sings everything else, SEXY. Misinterpretation.

  • @moxiemovies100 the number one rule to covering a record is make it your own...and thats what he did and killed it...your not gonna be "BiLL" LOL so its no sense of trying..

  • @moxiemovies100 whoa whoa buddy, easy there. Relax, grab a coffee. Listen again. This is awesome. Maybe your a minimalist, perhaps a huge fan of the original. Strip away your old perspective and give this a chance. This is brilliant. If you still think that this is a hack job fine, we disagree. Have a great day anyway. This is great though.

  • the 24 dislikes hope the terrorists win.

  • grown and sexy!

  • I love this dude. I would love to see him play Sam Cooke in a screenplay.

  • Dear YouTube,

Hey, thanks for finally having a video of D'Angelo with his shirt on. It's about time.

    Sincerely,

    Male D'Angelo fans.

  • Wow the groove in this video is overwhelming... involuntary blues face and head bobbing

  • The fact that Steve Gadd is playing aux. percussion in the background (i.e. 2:09) makes this video officially epic.

  • I love how this guy's face looks like how most of today's gangsterrappers... While he actually knows what playing some good music is.

  • @StefannafetS how stereotypical of you. Guess thats supposed to be a compliment SMH.

  • @StefannafetS I dont think we would put it that way, D'angelo have the highest respect for rappers and hip hop musicians. I think you should too, even though it doesn't fit your taste

  • I got a new respect for D after watching this, dude MUST come abck 4sho

  • ..retatered...

  • What year wa this recorded??? It's awesome!!!

  • @petuniasm7 - I'll never forget this: saw this as a New Year's Eve show in 1998/1999.

  • Marcus Miller on the BASS!

  • My brothers theme song back in the day when you talk about one of his women

  • Awesome, Bill Withers would be proud!

  • Clapton on as a union hack friggin awesome

  • thank god he is not naked here lol...i meant d'angelo...;)..this is such a good find, all my favorite musicians together...

  • that's like the funkiest shit ever!

  • Chapeu to Mr. "slowhand" on the guitar too!

  • Who is the guy at the guiro 2:10 ?

Never I would forget to mention him :)

  • that's don alias on congas

  • they should've kept the camera on D'angelo's hands...

  • STEVE GADD IS MY NEW GOD

  • 1:24 HE LOOKS PISSED OFF!

  • 13 people like being used.

  • Yes sirrr!

  • Great stuff! Love how versatile D'Angelo is.

  • Gene Lake is the drummer.

  • Nelson Mandela on congas, coool.

  • I stand by my previous comment. D'Angelo is a tool.

  • Did I just see Steve Gadd playing the cuico?

  • This could be the finest thing I ever heard

  • This song should easily get a million viewers. Com'n guys!!!!

  • great music!!!

  • That fill at 2:21 messed my pants

  • This song is just timeless it will never get old never. Bill withers we love you for writing this great song and singing it.

  • Sick! Everytime I hear this song, I MUST smile. It ain't gettin better than this sh#t!

  • How can you dislike this?

  • Keep it coming! This is good!

  • Great tune and done perfectly. It really cooks. The rhythm section, especially the drummer gives great backing.

  • I'm a dude that likes beautiful women, but at 3:00, my panties became wet

  • @thelachef so you're a dude that wears panties? lol.

  • and steve jordan would drummer as being in the fucking pocket. that high hat in sequence three times sets me off every single time

  • Love D'Angelo's Music.

  • I like how everyone thinks they know music better than r&b jesus, Clapton, sanborn, and all of the other legends playing here. Maybe, when you have some commensurate success, I won't take your comments with a grain of salt.

  • The fact is they should have slowed it down some - it would have given both De and Dave to work the groove more. Too bad. I love them both.

  • gadd on the guiro. that's like michael jordan on the bench

  • @AmISerious1

I believe that's Gene Lake on drums... he's no slouch either.

  • @bostoncommonband gene is awesome

  • @AmISerious1 You ain't never lied!

  • @AmISerious1 Gadd on the guiro is like Darth Vader getting a death-grip

  • @colbybelk

You have to keep in mind D'Angelo's intentions, which were not to step on David's solo but add his touch to it, because he is the one being featured. I like his intentions.

  • @Jaketrombone No, man, Sanborn's got some of the greatest phrasing around, and it was fairly obvious that he was phrasing out of his solo. These guys are conversing with each other musically, and D'Angelo was right in the right place.

  • Such a great recording, and capturing!

  • Wow Steve Gadd on percussions (1:22), unusual but cool !!

  • I love this rendition. Just wish D'Angelo wouldn't walk all over Sanborn's solo 2 beats too early. Sanborn's ride conveys the feeling of the song better than the others'.

  • @colbybelk Walk all over his solo? He didn't come in to early. He got is 4s and D'Angelo was comin' to tell everyone they're bout to hit the head

  • talk about a love song.....

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

  • What sax-player? Why not take the best one?

What drummer? Why not take the best one?

So the guys meet again and again and become friends.

  • fuck yeah he was a cool cat! that man is the shit, the entire Voodoo Album is an absolute masterpiece, and I hope he returns, and if he doesn't I hope in years to come people give more recognition to the sheer genius of his standout album.

  • OMG!!! This Don't Make No SENSE.....All this talent on 1 STAGE..... AMAZING!

  • what happened to mr. d'angelo he was a cool cat?

  • OMFG... D'Angelo and 'Use Me'... damn, I can't walk, it's that good. Lemme use you = )

  • great song...sax is corny as hell..bill clinton, frat boiz who listen to dave mattews, and rhythmless yuppies wearin dark glasses ruined it for me

  • @cacadodo666 I agree with U wholeheartedly about the Sax.....I would have preferred hearing Eric Leeds or Candy Dulfer play along in this piece.......

  • @purplexxe8 Seriously? Sanborn *created* this genre, with a nod to Grover Washington. Eric Leeds and Candy Dulfer owe everything they've ever done and aspire to be 1/10th of David Sanborn. Sanborn was here not to blow all over this but to be part of the house band. His playing here is understated and perfect.

  • @purplexxe8

Not Candy Dulfer like to see Kenny Garrett on this one..

  • @purplexxe8 You are kidding. Right?

  • imagine listening to these guys jam live all night......man that would be unreal, love it~

  • Steve Gadd on guiro, really?!? No pressure on the drummer's shoulders, you are just performing in front of Gadd

  • @vincentonkeys haha, seriously.

  • THANK GOD FOR THE BLUES SCALE!

  • Eric Clapton in that band...

  • #Nowplaying

    #jazz

    D'Angelo / David Sanborn & Friends - Use Me

(Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of Type_Gray at twitter)

  • if sumbody can name a better soul male r&b singer of the 90s better than D'angelo ill send you a money transfer of a $100 right now!!! lol

  • this makes me wanna be used...lol

  • this sounded great. still like the original.

  • YEEEAAAA!!

  • Use me a Bill withers song in the Hands of Deangelo. Do Dat!!!!

  • OMG! Come back D'Angelo...clean up and return...

Everything about this post leaves me speechless!

  • Funky, tight & to the letter!!! EXCELLENT!!!

  • david sanborn is the most boring dude there. the show should be called "the biggest geek to ever play a sax and other much cooler guys"

  • @divits83...He's a humble dude. M0ost stars would take ALL he spotlight, but being part of a band requires humility. Plus, with David as an instrumentalist with Grammy in pocket, no need to jump around like MJ. Pop artists do that.

  • @afrosensuous.. i was only kidding dude. he's obviously the man, he's got steve gadd on percussion. wtf!

  • @divits83...I feel ya. I wish I could see outdoor concerts like this. I'dbe like a kid in a candy store. But I'm glad that with D'Angelo being the youngest of them all he didn't over-sing the song. Some of these Neo-Soul dudes put way too much on vocals, but he did well with the OG's!!!

  • @divits83 sorry, but clapton is WAY more geek and boring, than a guy who has played and recorded with miles davis...

  • @CptChaos88 hmmmm debatable since clapton is a old school rock star. and for some reason i imagine david sanborn being shit scared of miles.

  • @divits83

and I imagine miles davis would respect david sandborn but laugh about eric clapton. he's not a good player...

  • @CptChaos88 you may be right but at least we could agree its just two white boys ripping off black peoples music?! ;) and hopefully d'angelo can put down the peanut butter and crack sandwich and get back to singin'!

  • @divits83 Clapton didn't really rip-off "black people's music". It can be argued that English Players like Clapton, Beck, Page , and the stones may have saved the black art form of the blues. In fact they often cited exactly where they got their licks from shedding lights on guys like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin. To Dismiss Clapton as simply a white guy ripping off music is wrong, because in his Younger days with Cream he brought the heat!

  • @YogiSizzle lol Somtimes when I dive in to my music library trying to find a particular artists influences and such it always ends up with it being a black dude. Feels like all we white ppl do is get our influences from black musicians sometimes ^^ I had a friend who once claimed that Rock n Roll was played by ppl who couldnt play the blues.

  • @divits83

ok, we can agree with that, peace ;-). I'm just not a big clapton fan that's all. and dean brown is white as well, but as always nobody can hear him. you'd only miss him if he wasn't there

  • LOVELY

  • This is fun. Patricial Barber has a great version that raises goosebumps. Check it out.

  • ¡Espléndida versión del gran clásico de B. Withers!

Splendid version of the B. Withers' great classic!

  • ssssaborrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

  • I almost hate to look at this because I'll start jonesing for D'Angelo and I'll become diappointed ....again. I've alomst worn a groove in my "Voodoo " CD if that's possible

  • D'angelo and Clapton in the same band.........DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!

Awesome, can't get much better than this. D'angelo needs to come back and knock all those auto-tuning monkeys for six!!!

  • Me parece que es la mejor versión del tema que oí.

  • @larayoutv ur a retard claptons one of the lesser skilled muso's in that bad

  • Where is D'Angelo? This is dynamite! Love It!!!

  • Awesome Collabo...... all great musicians together sharing the stage. Masterpiece!

    Jaye Q.

  • GROSOS!!!!!!

  • EPIC band!

  • Great!! This is grown folk music!! You go!!!

  • This clip is just the sheeeeeeeeeeet man

  • Isn't that also the l8, gr8 Don Alias on other perc (congas/bongos)?

  • May be Gene Lake on drums, not entirely sure, but it kind of looks like it might be. But holey scat, looks like another drumming/groove giant Steve Gadd on hand-perc too!

  • Who is playing drums in this video?

  • 2:22 = sick fill

  • big band!

  • alguien sabe si esta presentacion disponible en audio para la compra no la encuentro en ninguna parte....
