It's a show aimed towards children, but people never realize that there are some seriously dark undertones and amazing action sequences. Avatar will always be underrated by those who've never watched or cared for it.

I've been watching Avatar since I was eleven, so like you, I grew up while the story progressed. It's a bit weird to watch it now though and realize I'm older than all the main characters.

@Dahxelb I think out of all the things that pissed me off about the movie is the earthbender scene. It made no sense! Imprison earthbenders on LAND?! When I saw that I was like WTF, seriously? Firebenders having 2 use an outside source of fire.How they conquer anything? Just waterbender them away or wait for it 2 rain Kartara the motherly one had no reason to be there at all! The name changes I didn't like but that wasn't what killed this movie it was everything else Ugh! I hate him!

However I do kinda liked the part with that firebenders needs an outside source (as all other benders) AND that more powerful benders can Create fire. However I think that creating fire should not be a so hard thing to do, like both Zhao and Zuko should also be able to create fire. and Some normal guards too. not not ALL basic firebending soldiers, and it's also easier for benders to take fire then to make.

and right in the end, where Iroh in the anime kicks everyones ass when Zhao kills the moon spirit, in the movie, he makes a pretty fire-show, making some fire out of thin air from his hands (not doing a shit, just showing that he CAN) and everyone flees like little girls.
