Took 750mg 5 days ago. Ended up in hospital, had a heart attack and a heart rate of 180 for over 48 hours. Now I'm in a black whole of depression. I have destroyed my life. There is no way out of this. Don't ever take it. I don't know how much longer I can take this. Life is done.
@tontonsteve I've tried loads of other party stuff over the years often in ridiculous quantities (party weekends etc) and I've never experienced anything remotely as hideous as Naphyrone/NRG-1 - go on, I dare you to use NRG-1 in a similar way to any other party substances! by the way, the rubbish which masquerades as coke these days wouldn't raise a stiffy let alone a heart rate!!
@logga00 sad to say I had a similar experience - repeat/cumulative doses (like with some other party substances over a weekend as implied at 4.01) will DEFINITELY lead to a visit to the hospital with a vicious heart rate which takes ages and ages to slow down - extremely very muchly scary cos your heart feels like it's going to jump out of your chest! medics didn't have a clue what to do about it so could only watch me suffer - I suggest you only touch this stuff with a barge pole!
@encabulator Mate, I completely forgot about this comment. It took me around 4 months to fully recover mentally. I was prescribed valium for about 4 months which also had bad effects and was hard to get off. This drug caused psychosis and depression. It's completely crazy. I'm really glad everything is back to normal now. I still look back on the whole experience as the worst time of my life and occasionally have flashbacks. Oh and I hear ya about the hospitals not knowing what the fuck to do.

@logga00 You dumb. 750mg your first dose. you dont even do that shit with mephedrone.. dumb. i know using RC's is all ready dumb. but if u going to do it. do it smart.. do research. Ive done hella research and nowhere does it say suggested first dose is 750mg......everything i read says start off with 20mg. see how it effects you. most users say 50mg is ideal. dumb
well there are a shit tonne of new chems out, a bit of help sifting through them for the amature researcher would be much appreciated. like most people, im interested in these 'mephedrone replacements'.
great vids btw, psychopharmacology is a really complicated science but you've made it accesible to everyone
Ive tried my fair share of drugs in my time, I'm only 20, but you wouldn't expect me to be the type if you met me because i seem fresh, sensible and quiet. This is my rating of fun of all the drugs ive taken. Ecstacy 7/10 Meow - 7/10. MDMA 8/10. Ketamine 2/10. Magic Mushrooms (liberty caps) 10/10. Cocaine 7/10. I also smoke weed but I don't class that as a drug. I don't want to try any other drugs since its only NRG, crack and heroine i haven't tried. I thought it was meow when i had ketamine.
As a ‘non-chemist’ I have read that NRG 2, 3, and 4 are Eric’s’ improved versions of NRG-1, so why are they not illegal analogues of Naphyrone? I have tried NRG-3 since the ban and the effects are very similar.
tried it once, turned me into a fiend. i felt great off small lines, looked people in the eyes and felt confident and respected. after losing the drugs somewhere at 10pm i started retracing my steps, left everyone behind, looked and looked walking up and down the street all night like a crack head. never found it. ended up accusing friends dad, totally lost the plot! was paranoid and unreasonable. lost respect and friends. and was admitted to hospital because i became suicidal after.
Maybe the government will one day see sense and legalise illegal drugs.
People want to get high, and if drugs are kept illegal, more drugs appear, that are potentially more dangerous, and we know less about.
Mephedrone and Naphyrone wouldn't be nearly as widespread if it wasn't for safer drugs being illegal.
Banning drugs won't stop people wanting to get high, it either forces them to pursue a high in a more dangerous way, or ruins their lives by sending them to jail.
Iv took that nrg1 last weekend I wouldn't recommend it to any1 4 ppl I was with ended up in hospital with extreme paranoia, hearing and seeing things in their head which sent them mad for a couple days until they came down off it rele isn't a pleasant experience I almost signed myself into hospital it was that bad
look the problem is with this drug is that there is a lack of facts/research.I can tell you what ive seen so far because it is getting really big now.Whist observing some friends that refused to listen i noticed that : it thickens the blood, short term memory loss stay up 4 over 48 hours non stop, not alot of oxygen getting to the brain, mood changes, one friend also bombed (put in a rizzla) 2 grams .1g first then another gram about half hour l8er didnt hear from him from the whole night he just
(part 2) - run out of space...:o)...do most drugs affect only one receptor at a time? does this make this new drug NRG1 more addictive. Seriously thanks again, you should send your research to the BBC I think.
Dear Professor Dave, I just thought I would find out a little bit of information (outside of the media) about this new legal high that is set to sweep the UK. Your video is very good and very informative, thankyou kindly. Could I please ask a couple of questions however? From the description you gave this new drug NRG1 affects all three transporters (im guessing receptors) to make a person feel good (serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine), do other drugs usually only affect one of these
NRG-1/Naphyrone will be banned shortly according to The Advisory Council for the Misuse of Drugs.
What is clear to see by this announcement is that the ACMD are banning compounds that have been reported by the media, as Les Iverson, head of ACMD also advises that their next compound to investigate (guarantee to ban), is the mild anti-depressant MDAI, which funnly enough was reported by media with NRG-1, directly after the recent mephedrone ban, after web sites marketed both as the new M-Cat...
Why are the views for this video so small? This is the only video so far to actually have put me off taking a drug with very little to no taboo (counter examples, meth, crack, heroin etc which I'd never take). This desperately needs to get out there.
Excellent information, and far better a deterent than any ban, facts rather than press driven hysteria and idiot politicians ignoring science and reacting to catch votes. Now can you do one about another legal high, a class A that kills 7000 through overdose short term and sustained abuse a year in the UK and is sold in licensed drug dens (pubs) and dealers (shops), and the government takes a cut (taxes). Thanks for the work you have put into your infomation films.
As a drug user, I thank you for making these series of videos and informing people like me exactly what the possible effects of these RC's are and the science behind them. I was tempted to try Naphyrone but after watching your very informative video I will not be going anywhere near it. thank you and keep up the good work
@jam1erw This summed up what I was going to say 100%. After you explained this in a very scientific manner, despite not knowing much about chemistry (I'm an engineer), I can definitely conclude that I'm never taking this terrible drug again after that comparison with that beta-blocker. Thank you again!
excellent videos mate really like what youre doing. Along with giving me some very useful information, youve ignited in me a previously benign interest in chemistry!
Recent tests prove NRG-1 contains the controlled substance: methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) along with other chemicals unknown but thought to be derivatives of methcathinone. Not only that but no indications of naphthylpyrovalerone (naphyrone) were found. (DrugsForum)
Might be of interest to those dabbling. I believe Scottish police have also tested batches and came up with the same results.
Interesting video. I don't want to see anything get banned (as it only makes things worse) but I do want to serious scientific advise so people can make informed decisions on what they consume and use. Thank you.
just like eating a non-paleo diet consuming non-paleo chemicals is fucking bad idea. Reasearch chems are just like hotdogs, some asshole takes leftovers puts um together and sells them for an unintended purpose that may or may not be healthy for you. there are thousands of undiscovered natural entheogenics out there that are perfectly healthy for you and have no LD50 or at least a massive therapeutic index
this is the type of honest analysis of chemically synthesized antihistamines . i tried this drug yesterday, and it really has to be respected. I have a question, will the government be testing these maphedrone substitutes or are we gonna see the same knee jerk reaction caused by the press fear mongering?
anyone reading this, DO NOT TRY THIS DRUG.. it is nothing like mcat, and not worth the potential serious side effects. There is very little empathy compared to mephedrone and especially methylone, and it will keep you up all night and probably the next after taking very little. it can seriously mess with your heart, liver and kidneys, and has already hospitalised many people. what concerns me the most is the fact that it is marketed as a mephedrone substitute. PLEASE stay away
it has now been found that mepthrone did kill those 2 kids, they did not even have in there system! so now this nrg will kill, very silly to ban like that
My mate did around 700mg of this in 5 hours and was off his trolley. He took the NRG-1 version. He was completely paranoid beyong what i thought humanly possible- What's his prognosis Doc? He's already been classed as a paranoid skizophrenic a while back too....
Even if ALL 50mg were somewhat miraculously metabolized into the dreaded epoxides, which is extremely unlikely, wouldn't we still be getting more carcinogenic chemicals from a single cigarette? Surely, someone who smokes a pack of ciggies a day ingests *FAR* more carcinogens then someone taking even 100mg of Naphyrone daily, right?
@Scimitar116 You are right that the epoxidation of aromatic compounds is precisely the reason/mechanism why cigarettes are carcinogenic. It is difficult to compare the relative doses and effects, as one is inhaled (hence has primary effects on the lungs), while the other is directly ingested (and will have primary effects on the liver). In any case, people should be aware thata degree of carcinogenicity of naphyrone is a significant possibility.
@Scimitar116 i've had about 0,35g, in small lines, then stopped because it was a horrific experience. drank plenty of liquids, probably it's out of my system by now. my question is, and i might sound a bit paranoid, but reading about it's carcinogenic properties got me by surprise. are there any risks of that for trying it once or it's referred just to long-term use?
Great coverage, and while I agree that the napthalene moiety is almost certainly a not something you WANT to see, I have to make the point that there are some drugs with napthalene groups in their structures that aren't carcinogenic, i.e: the commonly available NSAID Naproxen.
Also, even if Naphyrone is carcinogenic, the effective doses are relatively small...50mg or so of the pure chemical (not the branded and cut NRG-1 product) insufflated produces nice effects, or so I've heard.
@Scimitar116 You are correct about Naproxen (and propranolol) containing naphthalene units. However, both those drugs have an oxygen atom directly attached to the ring, which is not present in naphyrone. The oxygen atom significantly modifies the electron density of the maphthalene ring, which will change its reactivity.
There are hundreds and hundreds of so called "research chemicals" around the scene nowadays, many of which are completely legal. A popular one in York is bk-MBDB (2-methylamino-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)butan-1-one) which does have a similar chemical structure. Also, there is the 2C family and the 5-MeO familys.
People will always get high off legal substances, you just cannot ban them all. For example, myristicin in nutmeg can produce a massive high if a large enough dose is taken. After reading PHiKal and TiKAL (books) and spending a large amount of time on erowid, I personally am shocked about the amount of psychoactive chemicals.
Thank you for the videos they're vary interesting, I like them. I was just wondering if you would be able to show us how the structure say something like caffine compares to the strucures of NRG-1 Mephedrone, and then how the structure of sugar compares. That would be awesome! Just interested thats all, thank you!
Very informative, you may save many lives with this information!
David Nutt prophesied that illegalising certain drugs would push the market to cheaper and quicker solutions, bypassing whatever limited (if any) safety measures they had in the chase for profit. Thanks to Capitalism, we now have a potent carcinogen on the loose. Although the markets mass produce cancer anyway, and puts things like these in a different light due to their untaxable nature. Such is this crooked world of liars.
Very educational! More videos about the actual science behind research chemicals would be appreciated, there is hardly any expert information available on the net about psychoactive drugs such as this one
hey man nice information.Keep going on!! this stuff gets spread around in germany now.???Can you make a video about Methylone(BK-Mdma;2-methylamino-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)propan-1-one; Methylenedioxymethcathinone)because thats the stuff that a lot of people likes in germany.. would be nice... greatings...
DONT BELIEVE IT! NGR-1 seems more addictive that meph - but in a scary kinda way, NRG-1 doesnt seem any more potent than meph in SAME DOSES. MDai is POO! dont wast ur money. But as said, who knows the long terms..... i may not be here in a couple of weeks. i may have a crap vendor? who knows? who cares? we need more people like shulgin.... BRAVE ppl i think theyre called.
Why dont the governments develope safe drugs for users. Alcohol is alot more dangerous than alot of illegal drugs. MDMA is illegal yet is alot less harmful. If we had safer drugs to use i for one wouldn't touch these dangerous things. FACT, some people love to chill and get high with friends...it wont stop, if the powers that be really gave a shit they'd provide alternatives. As it is...they just come across as kill joys.
Why dont the government scientists create an harmless drug for us, afterall alcohol is legal and its very harmfull. I understand MDMA is alot less harmful than alcohol, yet its illigal, even though it is none fattening and has no come down etc. Surely a safer drug devlped intentionally would stear most away from such harmful substance. You're never going to stop people doing it...so why not make it safer?
i already knew that napthalin was kind of a nogo but bc of you i now know why (thats important to me). i didn't like your post on mephedron because it seemed a bit biased but this is really important and i will share this vid with anyone thinking about taking naphyrone
@GeSTalllt Thanks a lot for the comments on this video. Just as an aside, it wasn't my intention to make a biased video on mepherdrone. I just wanted to make it clear to people that it was an amphetamine/cathinone class drug. Many potential users genuinely thought that because it was legal, it was in some way 'different' to other illegal drugs, or had been proven to be completely safe, when that wasn't really the case.
Hi dave, can you have a look at this chemical 5-IAI (5-Iodo-2-Aminoindane) , its currently being marketed as another replacement for mephedrone. The study below says it's less neurotoxic than amphetamine....
Top video as always Dave. We seem to be having the problems with amphetamine like molecules now. I always rambled on about no matter how a molecules looks, as long as there is a base pharmacophore - it will be reactive in that sort of way, top example is oxycontin and heroin. Minute differences and both regarded as heroin and I am seeing it in a lot of GABA drugs, opioid receptors (mu, sigma etc) why can't the government see this?
@lilmissglentoran It is certainly correct that the amine is the key feature leading to the activity (particularly when there is an ethyl linkage between the amine and some kind of aromatic ring). It is this aspect that mimcs serotonin, dopamine & norepinephrine.
The government in the UK is now trying to ban generic classes of drugs (in the same way that a pharmaceutical company might write a patent on a family of molecules) to try and avoid methyl/ethyl/propyl/futile changes in structure.
unfortunately this is the problem with banning mephedrone, this is popular but more popular is dimethocaine dmaa, and 2 ai and dmc these are being sold as the replacement of mephedrone thats why these company selling them were not worried abt the ban,(the gov knee jerk reaction to media hype) can u look into these drugs i mentioned professor? as EVERYONE has turned to these in big way in past few weeks,

My mate did around 700mg of this in 5 hours and was off his trolley. He took the NRG-1 version. He was completely paranoid beyong what i thought humanly possible- What's his prognosis Doc? He's already been classed as a paranoid skizophrenic a while back too....
He sniffed it....

Scimitar116 1 year ago
@Scimitar116 You are right that the epoxidation of aromatic compounds is precisely the reason/mechanism why cigarettes are carcinogenic. It is difficult to compare the relative doses and effects, as one is inhaled (hence has primary effects on the lungs), while the other is directly ingested (and will have primary effects on the liver). In any case, people should be aware thata degree of carcinogenicity of naphyrone is a significant possibility.
ProfessorDaveatYork 1 year ago
@Scimitar116 i've had about 0,35g, in small lines, then stopped because it was a horrific experience. drank plenty of liquids, probably it's out of my system by now. my question is, and i might sound a bit paranoid, but reading about it's carcinogenic properties got me by surprise. are there any risks of that for trying it once or it's referred just to long-term use?
thestonedprophet 1 year ago
@thestonedprophet It's possible, but very very unlikely. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Just don't take anymore of this horrible compound designed to rinse even more money out of british teenagers.
350mg is a very large dose by the way.

Scimitar116 1 year ago
@Scimitar116 You are correct about Naproxen (and propranolol) containing naphthalene units. However, both those drugs have an oxygen atom directly attached to the ring, which is not present in naphyrone. The oxygen atom significantly modifies the electron density of the maphthalene ring, which will change its reactivity.

well stuff that shit..id rather stick to good ole mdma and ketamine and such like

TheNutmegman 1 year ago
People will always get high off legal substances, you just cannot ban them all. For example, myristicin in nutmeg can produce a massive high if a large enough dose is taken. After reading PHiKal and TiKAL (books) and spending a large amount of time on erowid, I personally am shocked about the amount of psychoactive chemicals.

at the end of the day now mephedrones illegal, its going too be cut with this shit, so the government have made mephedrone a much worse drug!

Thank you for the videos they're vary interesting, I like them. I was just wondering if you would be able to show us how the structure say something like caffine compares to the strucures of NRG-1 Mephedrone, and then how the structure of sugar compares. That would be awesome! Just interested thats all, thank you!

Oh right and sorry for all the typos i mean NRG-1 "and" Mephedrone, (not to mention "vary")

More videos about the actual science behind research chemicals would be appreciated, there is hardly any expert information available on the net about psychoactive drugs such as this one

hey man nice information.Keep going on!! this stuff gets spread around in germany now.???Can you make a video about Methylone(BK-Mdma;2-methylamino-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)propan-1-one; Methylenedioxymethcathinone)because thats the stuff that a lot of people likes in germany.. would be nice... greatings...

the sun is full of u know what.
BRAVE ppl i think theyre called.

cigarettes are also carcinogenic, millions of people world wide smoke them. although this aspect of NRG 1 is a huge worry.

Stay well away from this drug...you'll seriously regret taking it!
mattychubby 1 year ago
Why dont the governments develope safe drugs for users. Alcohol is alot more dangerous than alot of illegal drugs. MDMA is illegal yet is alot less harmful. If we had safer drugs to use i for one wouldn't touch these dangerous things. FACT, some people love to chill and get high with friends...it wont stop, if the powers that be really gave a shit they'd provide alternatives. As it is...they just come across as kill joys.
AngelBoy666 1 year ago
Why dont the government scientists create an harmless drug for us, afterall alcohol is legal and its very harmfull. I understand MDMA is alot less harmful than alcohol, yet its illigal, even though it is none fattening and has no come down etc. Surely a safer drug devlped intentionally would stear most away from such harmful substance. You're never going to stop people doing it...so why not make it safer?
AngelBoy666 1 year ago
thank you for this vid
i already knew that napthalin was kind of a nogo but bc of you i now know why (thats important to me). i didn't like your post on mephedron because it seemed a bit biased but this is really important and i will share this vid with anyone thinking about taking naphyrone
GeSTalllt 1 year ago
@GeSTalllt Thanks a lot for the comments on this video. Just as an aside, it wasn't my intention to make a biased video on mepherdrone. I just wanted to make it clear to people that it was an amphetamine/cathinone class drug. Many potential users genuinely thought that because it was legal, it was in some way 'different' to other illegal drugs, or had been proven to be completely safe, when that wasn't really the case.

good vid. Will be avoiding this stuff just to be on the safe side

Minute differences and both regarded as heroin and I am seeing it in a lot of GABA drugs, opioid receptors (mu, sigma etc) why can't the government see this?
lilmissglentoran 1 year ago
@lilmissglentoran It is certainly correct that the amine is the key feature leading to the activity (particularly when there is an ethyl linkage between the amine and some kind of aromatic ring). It is this aspect that mimcs serotonin, dopamine & norepinephrine.
The government in the UK is now trying to ban generic classes of drugs (in the same way that a pharmaceutical company might write a patent on a family of molecules) to try and avoid methyl/ethyl/propyl/futile changes in structure.
ProfessorDaveatYork 1 year ago
unfortunately this is the problem with banning mephedrone, this is popular but more popular is dimethocaine dmaa, and 2 ai and dmc these are being sold as the replacement of mephedrone thats why these company selling them were not worried abt the ban,(the gov knee jerk reaction to media hype) can u look into these drugs i mentioned professor? as EVERYONE has turned to these in big way in past few weeks,
