@UnitedKingdomify I think it's pretty rare that Mark Kermode gets it wrong. OK, that's my opinion and it obviously doesn't match yours but what is the job of a good critic? Is it to give the exact opinion that you yourself hold about everything,thereby giving you a little ego boost as you listen? or is it to try and be informed,give his own view and back it up with why he feels the way he does?I'd go with the 2nd one.He has a massive knowledge of films and if you can do better I'll eat my hat.

If it were the former I might pay attention to get a reliable idea of what to expect from a movie and if it were the latter than I might pay attention just to be entertained, but it's not about any of that. It's just about being obnoxious and pretentious.
