  • just saw it but still have to say blue velvet is the best

  • @memokk Uh, this was BEFORE Silent Hill

  • very confusing movie.

  • Robert Blake is awesome in this movie. So creepy twisted and deranged.

  • Rammstein

    Marilyn Manson

    9 Inch Nails

    Best soundtrack. Ever.

  • silent hill much?

  • best movie soundtrack ever

  • This is one of the best movies ever made but this trailer looks fucking shit!!!!!

  • she went to freddy's house got fucked then got stuck on the side of the road take a hike bitch

  • patricia arquette on crack at that time huh

  • Great movie. It needs at least a couple of viewings to make sense of everything.

  • Well, he's got

    some pretty fucked-up friends.

  • Bill Pullman is HOT!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

  • i'm scared now and ever,...

  • SPOILER SPOILER!

A man haunted by jealousy kills his wife and her dangerous lover. When he's taken to jail and receives death penalty he's the moved to a death row. He find himself alone with his thoughts and unable to escape what he did he creates a parallel world in his mind/or in space and time. In this fantasy he's another person who appears not to remember anything yet he keeps being followed by very familiar aspects of his real self, just to find that in the end he'll die lost and alone.

  • The first time I watched this movie, it made no sense to me at all. I watched it a second time while tripping on acid, and it actually made some sort of sense.

  • @ls033189 Seriously, what is the preoccupation with watching psychological movies while tripping...or even just being high. Not bragging, but I've done every known illegal hallucinogen, hallucinogens that were just recently made illegal, & hallucinogens that are used by African and South American shamans that few people know about. Who cares? Doing drugs = the perception of reality...NOT a heightened perception of reality. Not doing drugs = more reality than you can handle obviously.

  • @schlierkampification Actually, I handle reality quite well, but my comment had nothing to do with reality! I haven't done any drugs in over 11 years. I just stated that to me, the movie made no sense at all while sober.

  • *puts on sunglasses*

    Call me

    YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Robert Blake is way creepy looking in this movie.

  • THIS MOVIE IS SOO FUCKING CREEPY & TRICKY!CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS MOVIE ABOUT??

I HAVE SEEN IT THRICE ALREADY!STILL CONFUSED!WHAT A MIND FUCKIN MOVIE IS THIS!

  • @timetotpretend The movie doesn't explain itself, it's supposed to be confusing.

The way I see it: Fred Madison hallucinates, somehow transforms into another person and travels back in time in the process, and then he transforms into himself again.

  • I'M DERAAANGED!!!

  • shat my pants at 0:11

  • I really need to see this again. I don't remember it being as awesome as this trailer made it look. It's probably been a good 7 or 8 years.

  • Marilyn manson!!!:D "i put a spell on you" lol good song!!!:DD

  • If anyone wants a decent explanation, listen up. About 00:40 the main character, who later murder his own wife, says "I like to remember things my own way, not necessarily the way they happened". This is the maintheme of the movie; to create a new life or situation within another. The intention and purpose of the movie is the idéa of waking up one morning living a strangers life. This is exactly what the maincharcter does, while imprisoned. It ends with him getting electrified, whilst he dreams.

  • badass film

  • The biggest trick about this is that when you watch it you think it should make sense. Where as there is no sense to make of it. The whole time watching it you are trying to understand it and thus is life.

  • What the hell is going on????

  • Some epic sex scens in this movie, but confusing as fuɔk

  • I didnt like it at start but now a day after it keep stick on my mind.

  • This trailer makes 100 times more sense than the actual movie

  • Although his story lines are predictable. It's the was he portrays them, thats why he's such an unreal director.

  • was this filmed in 1872?

  • @daveygravey123456 hahahaha yeah it was....try 1997

  • Nice movie, but i like Blue Velvet more.

  • First time I watched this movie I also thought "stupid" but then I watched it 5 more times because I couldn`t make no sense of it at all.

Then we watched it several more times with my buddies and we discussed it afterwards but every time we came up with a different interpretation.

That was 12 years ago and guess what, I still don`t get this movie but it certainly is not stupid and it`s the only movie that still illudes me.

    What a mind blowing masterpiece.

  • Mr. President.

  • dick laurent is dead.

  • looks cool. im looking forward to getting creeped out, but it's gonna take a lot for that to happen. I love that stalker dude that has a crazy laugh at the end and wears lipstick and ghost flower stuff.

  • david lynch is cool

  • BTW that's Jack Nance at 0.29 , the lead actor in Lynch's Eraserhead (this was his last film role)

  • lul, Robert Blake in kabuki make-up ,,,, i was watching this when i was in grade school

  • fucken stupid movie

  • this movie is weird. No plot, no story, just a bunch of random things that make no sense. I give it negative 2 stars

  • David lynch makes underrated masterpieces, and this is one of the best fuckin movies ever, just amazing!

  • Robert Blake is the best thing about this movie. He is creepy. Forget the mobsters and the 2 cent floozy.

  • The best soundtrack ever! Used to blast it in my bedroom everynight!

  • this movie gets you into hell. at the end of it you cannot know if you got out or your still there. brilliant psycho trip

  • 19 people got terrorfied by the mystery man.... "we've met before haven't we?"

  • Is good as blue velvet?

  • @folladordeprostis better

  • @folladordeprostis better in my view

  • Comment removed

  • @folladordeprostis much better

  • @folladordeprostis Depends on who you are, I personally like them equally and they both fit on my top 20

  • I'm investigating movies I want to watch, and this looks awesome but i had to turn away at the spider. Now I know I can't watch it. FML

  • Music by the one legend!!! MariLyn ManSon

  • Great film. It makes more sense when you become familiar with a rare & obscure disorder... fugue state.

  • Lynch is a master!

  • fell in love with lynch after watching wild at heart. began having doubts during blue velvet. now i feel disgusted.

  • i am just mind-fucked by watching "the" trailer. If i watch the movie, my mind might just get knocked up.

  • who is david lynch? what type of movies are these?

  • @92badblood they seem like the kind that fuck with your mind. psychological. i heard his movies inspired Silent Hill. the game.

  • very underrated movie

  • @lukesmailbox so true

  • haha creepy! but i wanna see!

  • after i saw this i got into Lynchs other films, Mulholland Dr, Blue Velvet, Elephant Man....all excellent movies!

  • Pete & Fred are the same guy. Fred is Pete after psychologically repressing the events of the Pete storyline for over a generation. He recalls the events of his youth, and loses his mind.

Watch it with this in mind, and it makes *much* more sense.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid . No its who he wants to be , younger an shaggin his bird all the time , i think the flashing police car lights at the end is him getting the electric chair for the murder of his wife

  • @dan290975 If it's "who he wants to be" why does it go bad so fast?

  • @vaguelyhumanoid One possible answer is because reality- slowly at first, but at an accelerating pace- continually chips away at his fantasy until it collapses on itself.

  • @BishopOcelot The wife-killing thing was so dreamlike and symbolic in its execution that I don't interpret it literally.

  • it's scary

  • BEST movie ever and "it was a plessure takling to you" the best line-I love the mystery man character in this movie!

  • This makes way more sense than the actual movie

  • Thats cool my dad is on that movie

  • @badgirl2126 really? who was he?

  • @badgirl2126

which part did he play? what´s his name. maybe i find him in the credits.

  • Awesome fucking song, Marilyn Manson - I Put A Spell On You.

  • He said this movie was kind of inspired in the case of OJ Simpson. How he seemed so happy and easy after what he had just done to his wife. How the mind can alter the reality to its own reality.

  • This reminds me of Mulholland Drive because of the streets.

  • David Lynch's Lost Highway is amazingly freaky. I recently began a 5-month-long series of article on my blog analyzing the films of David Lynch. You can check it out by searching "35 Years of David Lynch"

  • @MichaelAdamWarren The sense of mystery on Lynch's movies is not that cheap trick JJ Abrams do on his films creating tons of questions to hold your attention and trying to put a scientific sense of truth on them, when you see a mystery on a David Lynch film the question itself is the charm and style of the movie.

  • everythime i watch it i find something new in the movie, the other day my GF said that the mystery man rober blake was the devil, and that why he didnt answer when he waas asked "who are you" the devil has somany names.

  • @hunterallen48

I agree I was also told that the movie is about shapeshifting

  • dick laureant is DEAD

  • Robert Blake should be in prison for murdering his wife. For real.

  • Mijn volledige filmrecensie:

    jdssmetjereview.webklik.nl/page/lost-highway

  • What is the name of Marylin Manson song in the background?

  • @AlexDeLarge18 : it's called I put a spell on you ;)

  • @AlexDeLarge18 its a cover from screamin jay hawkins - i put a spell on you.

  • This movie has some brilliant scenes. Lynch is a master of this kind of headfuck stuff. The angel man is a freak, Mr.Eddie is a crazy motherfucker, and Patricia Arquette is hot property, both blond and brunette.

  • any hot sex scenes in this??

  • @curtissparker yes.

  • @bolnti there is a short film which has come out'"lady blue shanghai " check it out ....

  • can someone please explain to me wtf this is about? lol

  • @rockstar03lcd this is the cool thing about david lynch's movies....

  • fred madison = madison ave. ?

pete dayton = the daytona 500 round and round in a loop going nowhere

  • פיט... :)

  • wow l didnt know the trailer had that Grindhouse / B-movie charm.

anyway this film was on hell of an experience.

  • This could be the most creepiest trailer I have EVER seen. This is right up there with the trailers for The Shining, Poltergeist, and The Exorcist.

  • The old Region 1 pan and scan dvd has this trailer on it. Unfortunately they didn't put the trailer on the recent 16:9 release.

  • this movie dragged on too much, dont watch this if you get bored easy. wasnt enough action in it for my liking, but hey... if you like films with about 5 actors in, shit music and a tiring plot then watch it. as for me, i think il stick to counting sheep

  • @DJAbstruse Yea, action is where it's at. Like the action of getting paid to play other people's music? Mash it up a bit? Do what a million other people are doing? A cliche no talent gig quickly fading out of the commercial fashion limelight? Some fuckin DJ is talking about "shit music"! Amazing...

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNeoPsychedelic @TheNeoPsychedelic The fact a million other people do it is irrelevant to how good it is lol... And no not like the action of "getting paid to play music".. APPLES AND ORANGES mate. Its funny how you try to generalize DJing just because i didnt like this film lol.. Once again IRRELEVANT. We as people who listen to music and watch films are entitled to an opinion. Only mine is relative to this page and yours..well... really isnt.. :(

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNeoPsychedelic So whether a DJ spins a track or a band plays a gig a "million" times, the songs automatically become shit? Are you being serious? A classics a classic man, you can listen to a great song over and over and itl always be a great song. And yes you can generalize whatever you want, but it makes you look like a narrow minded, arrogant bell end. :)

  • The first half of the movie is brilliant. But Lynch kinda lost himself during the second half. He kinda ruined it.

  • masterpiece

  • one of the best Lynch Mainstream-Movies.

  • RAMMSTEIN

  • Watched this tonight. At first I was like "what the hell is this" Then by the last 20 minutes of the movie I was like "oh I get it this is epic" which is pretty much the same process I have when I watched any of David Lynch's movies.

  • i didn't really get this movie. But it's cool.

  • worst movie ever

  • so creepy

  • just speaking my mind, I wasted 2 hpurs of my life hoping that something got explained by the end and fucking nothing.

  • wev met before havnt we?

  • blue velvet is my all time favorite film. i think that and eraserhead are lynch's two best films. this and tp: fire walk with me are tied for second place. this is a great, under appreciated film. it's time will come.

  • @johnrunion eraserhead is great, but blue velvet just left too many unanswered questions for me to even pretend to like. I'm only half a Lynch fan right now, maybe eventually I'll like blue velvet, but it's way too out there for me currently.

  • @Priestica606 hang in there. the more you watch it the more you will discover it's secrets. lynch's work is pretty demanding cinema. his work is like abstract art in that it demands input from the viewer. just think of blue velvet as being two sides of the same coin. everything in day light lumberton has it's dark after hours counterpart right down to jeffery's family. think of frank booth as the dark opposite to jeffery's father, etc.

  • @johnrunion yeah i'm slowly starting to like Lynch the more i watch it. I've only recently been able to even understand what happens in Mulholland Dr.

  • @Priestica606 thanks for the reply. to me, in lost highway we see the dreamer and then his dream world. in mulholland drive we see the dream, then we are introduced to the dreamer.

  • @0residentevil0

Tis worth a look at least to watch once, if you like it you'll want to watch it again but admittly it can be a bit enduring to figure out what the hell is going on sometimes...

The movie centres on a musician and whether or not he was actually involved with a murder in his house in present day Los Angeles but Lynch as always is tight lipped about the films actual intentions'..well thats what I made it out to be anyway!...

  • Dick Laurent is dead.

  • this movie was worthless

  • @greenbay357 why waste your time then coming over here? why bother commenting?

  • I pretty much caught everything, was pretty good.

  • David Lynch is a brilliant psycho --and I love him for that. Awesome movie. Totally fucked the hell out of my mind.

  • @urmyplaygroundluv

Mulholland Dr. is better, in my opinion.

  • One of the best movies made.

  • You have to see this alone at night, and when feeling a little spaced out, to get the most of it! It's gonna mindfuck you so bad :)

  • @hellspawnds yeah i did yesterday...that was awesome...love lynch's movies...the most psychodelic art i've ever seen

  • najbardziej popierdolony film jaki do tej pory widziałem (popierdolony w dobrym tego słowa znaczeniu)

  • I'd probably rank this among Lynch's lesser works, but the trailer is incredible: after watching it you have no idea what the movie is about, but you still want to see it.

  • @Kagemusha08 everywhere you go...there you are.

  • still love the soundtrack

  • this movie fucking sucked. i like david lynch marilyn manson and trent reznor but this move makes no fucking sense the acting is terrible there is no special meaning or subtext it's painful to watch they made patrica arquette look like a tranny in this movie too.

  • @richdanks it makes more sense if you watch it twice are tired or high it makes sense to me is one of my favorite movies ever

  • I want to see this so bad. That pale dude was so effing creepy. :O

  • @blackjack0202

dude, you have too... it gets creepier and weirder every minute you watch

  • @datim : I have it now. I'll watch it soon.

  • The world needs more movies like this and Mulholland Dr.

  • @silentbrew well there are ^^. if you want by Lynch, check Inland Empire

  • @SaturnElena I watched Inland Empire when it first released; I didn't like it as much.

  • @silentbrew I liked it but thought it could've been shorter.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid Yeah, I thought it meandered for too long that it felt like it got itself lost in pretentiousness.

  • @silentbrew There's some really good stuff in it, though.

  • @silentbrew what about inland empire (david Lynch)

  • @PsycReaper I've spoken about this already- I didn't like Inland Empire

  • Crazy maaan

  • I like that

  • here's what i think : the woman is a skank, ex-porno star, having an affair with many men, she feeds the jealousy demon(pale man). that explains the videos from the beginning, Fred installed cameras to catch his wife cheating, but he didnt remember because he was posessed by that demon, that goes for the murder too...he is shocked when he sees it on tape. I believe that Fred and Pete are 2 different persons, but they are both suckers with lost souls, victims of a devilish woman.there's more...

  • una pelicula imprescindible, surrealista y tremenda...............una de mis favoritas el maestro Lynch es un genio............ohhhh

  • one of the best movies ever, but sadly the last really good one from lynch...

...except the nude scene of naomi watts in mulholland drive!!!

  • best film ever!

  • I feel like lost highway was good but a little too long. It was a great plot and all, but alot of the scenes felt like they were just dragged out much longer than they had to be.

  • you didnt get the plot then

  • @sloth545 I didin't get the plot!

  • It's a surrealist narrative. You need to think differently to understand it.

  • I thought in different ways and it didin't made any sence. what is your explaination?

  • It's really supposed to be your own but oh well, here it goes:

The protaganist was sentenced to death for murder in the beggining, but that dream sequence where he transformed into a different person was indeed a dream as a means to escape reality and hence the way that the plot constantly changes because everything else after that was in his imagination.

And just look at the scenes with the flashing lights. Clearly those are electric shocks administrated from the execution chair.

  • @Seabhac14 very well said man

  • And the ultimate Irony Robert Blake later had a murder trial that ruined him even though he wasn't found guility. And he played that evil character in this movie.

  • @Seabhac14

That's a possible explanation, but Lynch purposefully does not endorse a "correct" answer to his movies. Also, he is a surrealist film-maker, so I would hesitate to take such a literal interpretation of the film.

  • Although I did enjoy this movie it's a little bit too much like the movie Angel Heart but with the Lynch twist on it.

  • "Hmwahaha ... give me back my phone"

  • Wow ! This film is not a realization of a dream, but its really no dream, but a nightmare. Like a dream, it has as many plots as it does viewers with their own individual interpretations and perspectives. It forces itself upon you with a vengeance, but simultaneously encourages the kind of disengagement you experience when you are conscious that you are dreaming.

  • Damn, that bad huh? I'm downloading it now, but if it stinks I'll trash it. I thought that it would be good since cast consist of some pretty good actors. Dayum.

  • jesus christ almighty!

  • People, ToastmasterJFK have "Lost Highway" in his list of favorite movies... :D
