some of these aren't even because of not knowing how to use equipment or lack of training. like the girl who lost her fingers? that was more like common sense, would you actually stick your fingers into a machine whose chains are still moving? idk, it's not that i think it's their own fault... it's just not preventable by more training.
After watching this video, I will NEVER look at people with, lets say, appendages missing, the same EVER again. Some idiots will look in curiosity and amusement, and I will look in sympathy and sorrow.
I directed, edited and scored this video, was a very moving experience. So glad it has inspired so many to be aware, grateful for the opportunity to help young people be safe.
Well I thought it was kind of self-explanatory for Jennifer to turn the machine off when she saw that something was stuff in there.
Yes, I know it was in the moment, but sometimes, things like this could have been avoided. Unfortunately, I was injured on the job as well. Stepped on a rusty nail that punctured through my foot, not because of carelessness on my part, but because co-workers put things where they're not supposed to be put.
If your driving a forklift you should never have your load raised like that plywood load unless when necessary to raise the load above/around something. Just mentioning this in case a reader might be operating a forklift now or in the future its' very dangerous in many ways to have an elevated load when the forklift is in transport or stationary.
This video makes adrenaline fly though me i've lost a few friends to workplace accidents. Best of wishes to these people and their families.
I'm a safety engineer and I have never seen a company that was put out of business because of the costs of training, safety equipment etc. But I have seen companies that were shut down because of one (dosen't have to be fatal or as serious as the ones in this video) work related accident!
It's cheaper for companies to train and properly equip all their workers than to have just one accident!
@TheFoulGoblin i grew up operating plant from i was a kid i learned through watching i get hired on my reputation as a top operator some training courses are a joke ive seen many operators fully trained who havent got a clue about working on a site i think if your new to working any machine you should have to watch for over 120 hours before touching it so if there is a danger they will learn what way the machine works
For those looking for the 3 pieces of advice, skip to about 16:30

I really feel for the people in this video, but here's a list of what I would of done in those situations:
- Dough machine: Turned it off and inspect the problem
- Wood stack: Got at a safe distance
- Nighttime work: Grabbed the edge and pulled as hard as I can to rip through the pants and hang on.
- Spinning around forklift: Leave and ask someone to help in the current situation.

This is excellent information for young workers to know. Although this was a bit grafic, i think it'd have a powerful impact on youth.
