  • Love The Divinyls, Happy Australia Day.

  • Great song and great band !

  • great band

  • she made being a slut stylish

  • @iloveknitting1 yes indeed a-n-d she was just being herself, more power to her.....

  • saw them at us festival---their version of this is incendiary (its on toutube)

  • Chrissie A, representing Geelong town!

  • yeahhh great song!!

  • I like how she can hold a lightsaber.

80's were so good for so many reasons...

  • the queen of aussie rock

  • This is real rock, shaped from the Australian pub music scene, you had to be good or else they threw bottles at you

  • i will never tire of this awesome song!

  • YOU STILL ROCK, WOMAN!!!!

  • This was the first video I ever saw the first day we got MTV on our cable system back in the early 80s. I've always liked them ever since.

  • Loved it then...love it now

  • Suze Demarchi of Baby Animals & Christina Amphlett of Divinyls; oh what a Country I was born in

  • @shadowzone69 too bad both of them married Americans.

  • @nzoz1981 Don't worry, we're taking good care of em over here.

  • this song rocks and the masturbation song (the next one) awesome}1!

  • i mean thats exactly what i was trying to say, cheers and beers

  • no .

  • you could say shes the Bon scott of Australian rock, but that would be an understatement, that lady put the boots on stuck her chin out and made her self a throm, she is an iconic Australian, and should be held as high as the rest of our rock giants!

  • @aaadogman I think you mean the female Bon Scott of Australian rock....

I would like to say she is the epitome of female Aussie rockers, but she isn't... she's one of the boys. She's with Angus, Bon, Angry Anderson, Jimmy Barnes, Doc Neeson, Billy Thorpe, Lobby Loydd, etc. To say she is the epitome of female Aussie rockers is to say that Aussie female rockers take it to the level she takes it. The sad truth is, they don't... she's one of a kind in Australia. Not even that Baby Animals chik

  • @nzoz1981 100% agree mate...i hold her up there, and iam sure alot of other people that matter do also

  • @nzoz1981 DO YOU MEAN SUZE DE MARCHI FROM THE BABY ANIMALS

  • @iloveknitting1 yeah, i ran out of typing space.

  • @aaadogman they used to play at my uni (James Cook)......and for many years, every time you saw a movie at the theatre, you could see in the credits where they had written songs for hollywood movies..........she was hot on stage too................

  • I love her mic stand. Don't see any artists with those now days lol.

  • @MermaidBlueFins Of course not. Since all these lame artists lip sync now why bother with a mic at all?

  • kind of like an 80s version of the yeah yeah yeahs..

  • In My Life was the best thing that happened to me in 1985. I played the record until it fell apart.

  • I love this band's early stuff. They had a certain edge which few bands ever attain.

  • i loooove this fucking band.

  • One of the best female performers ever!

  • Great song, so much better than "I Touch Myself" IMO

  • they were in the movie money grip

  • At 1.21 my son fell terminally in love with a woman older than his mother. Understandably. Mummy prefers Pleasure and Pain. Note to politicians and media commentators - dysfunctional, non-standard families can get along just fine without your help.

  • Love her voice, love her energy - very dark and aggressive. Amazing.

  • what a dam magic group i would have love to see them perform

  • Australian music rules. It's a shame that Divinyls, Cold Chisel, Aussie Crawl, etc. weren't more successful outside of Down Under.

  • @cparkes92

Divinyls had considerable amount of success (or was it attention?) in the US during the 80's and of course the masturbation song lifted their profile... the thing is, people depend too much on promoters and radio. Shame really.

  • @cparkes92 the bands of this era did a lot of live gigs, the songs IMO were very well crafted and musically interesting and a little formal, but the content wasn't, then came Indi pop that IMO never really embraced the song or the skill of creating a song.

  • @cparkes92 I'm a Yank and I adore Aussie bands. I got a lot of stuff from our Aussie exchange student back in the day. =)

  • @craicbaby shame that it had to take meeting an Aussie to be introduced to the music... it's a story I hear often, but oh well....

  • @cparkes92 This way we get to enjoy and protect our home grown quality rather than have it watered down and b*stardised to appeal to a diverse international audience (with less humour about Chrissie's antics! I'm privileged to sing this song with my two bands - it rocks the audience, and me, every time :-D

  • I saw them live at the Dalrymple hotel in Townsville circa 1988.

    Great.........

  • the Legend of Billie Jean...

  • I cant believe this was 30 F#cking years ago!

    Feels like yesterday to me!

    Timeless!

  • This song is from the movie Monkey Grip.

  • @AlexDhuna and its Soundtrack

  • what a great band

  • Divynyls rule, this song totally kicks butt, check out our medley that includes Boys in Town :0)

  • Only geelong can produce talent like this....

  • this plays in the beginning of the movie the legend of billie jean

  • @varaques This performance is also in the 80's movie Monkey Grip.

  • @SiriusRushFan well, it's actually a live performance of the song with pretty much the same props.

  • awesome band the guitarist Mark McEntee is a great player. love the jailhouse rock DVD live at boggo road prison 8^)

  • Billie Jean

  • MUCH better than I Touch Myself.

  • oh my god. she kills me. why wasnt i alive in the 80s!? She is the bomb!!! <3

  • Chrissy is a LEGEND!!! she will go down in Aust Fame, clever Woman.

  • great song! :)

  • I think all the boys in town close their eyes and see you before them, think they would die if you were to ignore them, a fool could see just how much they adore you, and they get down on their knees - they'd do anything for you, huh wow oh...

  • Chrissy rocks!!! She blew the Yanks away when The Divinyls toured. I hope she is OK.

  • Thumbs up if you have at least one Divinyls album

  • I was 8 when they released this and hearing her on the radio and on countdown used to scare the crap out of me. I'd never heard a woman sound so aggressive before. I heard Janis much later and there is a lot in common there.

  • NZ OZ.. You ar e the POO !!!

  • Chrissy, you made me feel strong and that I could overcome, any thing. So grateful you are well, Women from our era where made to feel use less if we did not put out. I still feel the same as I did then, even hough a broken marriage and 2 kids later, we are of balls and my girls at 18 and 20 have got the message. Take care and bless you, keep on keeping on Denise

  • Awesome Chrissie my role model, even though we of a similiar age. I love the era and can't look forward, always look back. You look like Gwen Cooper from torchwood

  • Oh yeah, baby!!- this one and "Take A Chance" (and "Heart Telegraph", for that matter) definitely show the world that Chrissy was ridiculously talented (and sexy)back in the day. I have been the proud owner of the albums "Desparate" and "What A Life" since both of them came out, and will NEVER grow tired of listening to what is perhaps the greatest "frustration rock" ever made.

  • This Song was in the 1982 Oz Movie Monkey Grip Starring Noni Hazlehurst + Colin Freils.

  • May All, Grant Their Sincerest Best Wishes n Thoughts of Peace, Love, Comfort, n any Support possible, with Utmost Respect to n for The Wonderful Talent n Gift that is Chrissy Amphlett, n Ofcourse to Her Family n Friends n All Loved Ones at this very difficult time in Her Personal journey, In Our Prayers Always... So Much Peace, Love n Light, From All of Us XxX

  • @nzoz1981

It's a great thing you're doing. Thanks for all the vids mate.

    Fucken legend!

  • The gal's so clearly the most dynamic, beautiful and talented female vocalist of the past millenium. Don't know much about prior to that.

  • wore this cassette out when I was a young, strappin buck!

  • Great song, when I think of the Divinyls I always think of this song, not "I Touch Myself"

  • @Doobie1975 and pleasure and pain

  • Chrissie Amphlett was nearly every schoolboy's fantasy bad-girl :D

hard-edged rock from an awesome Aussie band!

  • no nzoz goldless is more than a <<<< cunt, especially given his susposed good taste in music. He is like thinking schoolgirl uniform must be dyke cause tatu were or something like that. He dont know shit about music or real women it appears and probaly cant play bass either.lol. Its common knowledge the Divinyls were first to do what they did and do it well, so fuck him.

  • good to hear she beat the cancer would be a shame to lose an australian icon

  • Chrissy has beaten her breast cancer but fucking useless youtube will not allow any links!

  • I was a kid when I saw Chrissie on Countdown and I remember feeling awed and kinda scared of her ferocity. Looking back she was a legend for attacking the status quo - back in the day it was pretty sexist. She is amazing.

  • I Love it!!! Classic Alternative Rock!

  • My Goddess Always!

  • What a classic !!!! This group never really was popular in the UK, except for the song "I Touch Myself" in 1991, which wasn't that great in my opinion, but this song playing "Boys in Town" is brilliant !!!!!

  • Awesome! 1:20

  • This chicks lips were before they invented botox!!! She didnt get them sucking pineapples.

  • Stunning woman with an amazing voice!

  • long live the Divinyls. Chrissie <3

  • @goldlessbassist <---- cunt

  • @GillianSydney ugh... now?

  • @nzoz1981 PROWL!!!!

  • @nzoz1981 needs a towel

  • @MrM1A1X Ciao Baby

  • @kenrick4562 some sort of code - but not fowl and no cow - one of the first and best Oz has ever served up - a rock chick that recognised and realised her talent and musically still holds her own 30 years later and will for who knows - the end of time!

  • now I am stuck in the 80's all over again! Thanks matey. Great collection, nzoz1981.

  • 2:19: greatest orgasm face, ever.

  • NOTICE !!!

no azz shakin-no make up and still sexy !!! love them killa bangs & lips !! ....80s = real music by real artist

  • How hot is Chrissie Amphlett? makes madonna look like a virgin

  • THIS MUSIC ROCKS!

  • Get me outta her, now how many times I've said that

  • I didn't even know about this. I only knew about 'Touch Myself' back in.... 1990 or 1991, whenever?

  • They're kicking ass on this... so much better than the lightweight "I Touch Myself"...

  • Gurt me out of here!

  • Screw it!

Screw it!!!!! I'm gonna say it.....This was a 1982 band

It's 2010 and this song is still relevant and kicks your ass

If you can't see it for what it's worth and what it means....Yoy are an Idiot.

  • this hit the US on MTV in 1982

It's 2010 and it is still fresh as ever.

Do you Moron's even hear what she is saying here?

  • Comment removed

  • i would give my left nut to go back in time, just to see her live!

  • Chrissie we love you!

  • My absolute favourite divinyls song and a great memory from the eighties!!! she rocks!!!

  • Still Kick Ass !!

  • @theinspectorwank ssok fucker cunter ...*yawn*

  • @theinspectorwank TROLLING FOR CHILDREN TO MOLEST WANK?"!?

  • I'm an old fart, I grew up on Grace Slick, Janice, Stevie Nicks, Ann Wilson, and Chrissie Hynde. In the 70's I heard and saw the little known Ruby Starr (Black Oak Arkansas, Blackfoot, and her own band Grey Star) -RIP- (she could hold her own with Janice) and then in 1982 I saw Chrissy Amphlett.....No one can touch her...IMHO Christina Amphlett is and was the best female vocalist in rock and roll

  • @Kneph1 that comment should be printed at the back of her autobiography and should be printed on rags, for those who doubt Chrissy's brilliance.

  • @Kneph1 not even close, but whatever.

  • @lundehund44

Not even close to whom? I'd like to know your thoughts...If you'd rather keep it off you tube you can contact me at meliorist.cox.et

  • @Kneph1 - "was the best female vocalist in rock and roll" -- so TRUE! Even Courtney Love acknowledges Amphlett as inspiration.

  • @maxmillion99

are you being sincere or sarcastic.....after the last remark I receved I"m not so sure.

  • @Kneph1 totally agree. she is unbelievably underrated and ignored by people with lousy taste. (the masses are asses...)

  • @Kneph1 Thats pretty high praise but I have to agree. I saw Divinyls playing on Manly beach in Sydney back in late 88 or early 89 and to say Chrissy knows how to crank things up is something of an understatement. I am biased though and if I ever put together a sound track of my life they would be one of maybe 3 bands that would feature throughout it.

  • @taipan185

It's very high praise. I'd elaborate but You Tube limits my response. If you'd like more you can contact me at Meliorist@cox.net

  • @Kneph1 Christina Amphlett better than Grace Slick, Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, and Chrissie Hynde?

    This is a joke, right?

  • @57highland No, the key is "IMHO" It is not a joke. Grace Slick's voice chills me to my bones and haunts me in my dreams.....It will always have an impact on me. But in "My Opinion" Chrissy bests them all. Her looks, her drive, her emotion and passion for the music and what she put into it. Chrissy is A1A

  • @Kneph1 Damn Straight, one of the Best ever

  • @Kneph1 Unfortunately we may be waiting a long time to see the likes of this woman in pop music again.

  • Chrissy Amphlett has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Please give support to one of our beloved rockstars during this tough period.

  • @nzoz1981

She's been through so much & is a gorgeous, strong, superbly talented woman. I was lucky enough to see the Divinyls live numerous times growing up in Sydney. Chrissy was definitely one of my role models as a teenage gal. I still LOVE them.

    Get well Chrissy!

  • @nzoz1981 - Chrissy revealed she is free of cancer as of January 24, 2011 - Thank goodness and God bless her in her recovery.

  • NO doubt.. number 1 Rock Chick of Australia.. maybe even the world

  • i remember the first time i saw this on MTV. i never heard of the Divinyls. so "boys in town" comes on, with warning to brace oneself - well, several minutes later i picked myself up off the floor and declared eternal love for this strange tawney-haired lady.

"too much too young" indeed, but its never enough. best wishes and prayers for Christina.

  • OMG, this is much better than any AC/DC any day...

  • Hey nzoz1981,those ten years went by fast.[alcohol related]

  • Does this song come in a movie? Sounds familiar. Good song.

  • this song ROCKS

  • Australia's greatest rock chick?

  • @dabble778 i can't think of any better

  • @dabble778 no, World's greatest rock chick !

  • @dabble778 Thats never been in doubt has it? It'd take someone very very special to unseat her thats for sure. She has burned her name deep into the fabric of aussie rock and it's fans, she'll be the greatest for a very long time to come. :)

  • They don't write songs like this anymore, nice song Chrissie. Its timeless

  • So much great music from down under...INXS, MIdnight Oil, Hoodoo Gurus, Men at work, Crowded House, Ice House, Flash and the Pan, The Sharp etc etc...Dunno what it is, but australian music has a special sound...I'm saying that as a Dane...can't say what it is, but there's definitely something special about aussie music.

  • @Madsennullo thanx for the comment... we (Aussies) had been speculating this for many years, but major international notice (cult, critical, underground, minor success doesn't seem to count) didn't seem to share the same view or appreciation for that 'sound'. Hmm... personally, I would have locked The Sharp in a wooden box and thrown it into the sea.

  • @nzoz1981 Yeah...The Sharp did indeed suck now that I think of it :-)

  • @Madsennullo Crowded House is from New Zealand. They're not Aussies.

  • @Madsennullo Yeah it was very represenative of the Aussie culture back in the 70's and 80's. Hard drinking, hard fighting and hard Pub Rock music was a standard night of entertainment back then. Unfortunatley American fascist Rap Hip Hop, R&B MTV culture has infected all the world including us so the cultural chain has been broken and the younger generations have been USA politically corrected to the point they all have a female sooky bitch consciensiousness. All the young guys seem like fags.

  • @boltonox oh you hit the nail so on the head with that comment .

  • @450hp202turbo Yeah, unfortunately its the truth. I know most of the young guys im talking about arn't Gay, but they sure are soft and weak and hang around with girls AS FRIENDS but havnt got the a skills or confidence to hit chick up! Its sad when males dont no how to BE male. Thanks a lot feminazi's! for producing the first generation of boys without balls! No wonder so many are turning Gay today. They may as well finish the job, go get the chop and buy some bolt ons and become a tranni!

  • World class,still great 19 years later.

  • @45insite 29 years later...

  • Great 80's Aussie band! Chrissy Amphlett ♥

  • great song. classic old school MTV. chrissy amphlett was smoking hot. more women should rock the stockings ;)

  • yeh, hard to belive it was that long ago, the song still sounds great today...love this girl's attitude also.

  • This is what Courtney Love wished she was.

  • Ah....... Revesby Workers Club 1982

  • The lead singer sounds different

  • 0:47-0:51 The daughter of Mick Jagger

  • 0:49-0:51 I'll give someone $100.00 if they can prove that this is not Mick Jagger's daughter. LMFAO!!!!!!!

  • I love how the video looks so timeless (apart from the grainy film of course)- well the outfits anyway. The drummer looks like a truckie from the late 70s, the rhythm guitarist's jacket and tie is from the 60s, Mark's jumper is at least 14 years ahead of its time, and the St. Trinian's schoolgirl outfit- well...what I mean is- there's nothing about this that shows it's stuck in the 1980s! well apart from the light saber mic stand! haha. nah this is awesome, this video still beats the later ones.
