  • Simply one of my all time favorite songs, by Mr. Suave himself. This guy sent me to my GQ archives after seeing him a couple times for style tips. Could never pull off his extent, but some basics can be learned.

  • Were the audience paid to stand still, does anyone know what show this was,had just started work when this came out manifesto album i believe, what was that .. that was your life mate shit

  • That's some wild suit that Bryan is wearing.

  • so cool you could keep a side of beef in him for a month

  • Bryan was a hottie in his youth for sure. Love this band.

  • I heard this when I was 12 or 14 and again at 15, I'm 16 and think today's music isn't how it used to be..

  • This summer in Gothenburg Sweden at Liseberg was MAGIC, Thanks for the consert you give there....I will never forget...See you in England :)

  • Old has-been who gets his kicks from killing animals.

  • @Stryker146

lol you're still alive, right mate?

  • Pity the sound is a whisper.

  • It's Avante Garde,Shithead!

  • Awww, I was 11 when this came out... But such xxx an inspirational tune! Got so much emotion.. 31 years on and still feelin this tune! xxx

  • Bryan is so sexy... and so effortlessly cool :)

  • Amazing track..even after all these years

  • stiff as card board! Love the song though hehe

  • Nothing says 'the seventies' like skinny ties and chartreuse suits! (Anyone else see the Dexy's Midnight Runners groupie in the crowd?)

  • One of the best songs ever!!

  • a crowded room filled with broken hearts turned to stone ... nailed it

  • UNDER the heading Who gives flying Fabout you doucebag trollin' ZERO. . Go FFFF yerself. Nattyy you clost queen. Truth is painfull ain't it. Hope your boyfriend isn't gonna be mad.

  • To show you that I do have a gay side, I do like clapping to the Hanson's "Wheres the Love," like singing to Neil Sedaka's "Laughing in the rain," and do on occasion scream in public at the realization that Michael Jackson is truly dead.

  • Cheap David Bowie immitators! I didn't like him either. I remember once going to one of those socialite parties most of you people probably attended. While a drunkard moaned on the floor, a Columbian friend of mine picked up an empty beer can, threw it, and smashed it against his face. I thought immediately what my friend did was wrong, but it sure did feel great finally smashing something into the pretentious face of a socialite. "Oh, look at me, I'm so cool! I'm conversing!"

  • if bryan ferry was any more cooler it would be illegal.

  • what the f is going on at 0:47???!!! not the kind of party i'd want to be at!!!

  • Check MisterNirty's profile and you will see that all he does is spew negative nonsense. A zero.

  • @lukevertiis I could make love to a woman or not make love her. Either way, I'm blessed. Now, teach a woman how to meditate while giving her a good massage and she will love you forever. This is why I try to avoid giving women sex for as long as possible because giving her my best at first will always leave her disappointed if it doesn't last three minutes with the same effort in technique! Like I said, as I am a deep person, I try to listen to deep music as well. This stuff is too fluffy.

  • @MisterNifty Haha, good job, you're hilarious. Haven't seen trolling like that in a while.

  • @TenWhoWereTaken I didn't experiment with drugs during Roxy which probably explains why my brain goes dead today when listening to it. Roxy came about during the advent of cocaine. The time when I experienced most of my visions of color was back during the early seventies which was a far more creative time. We sat around like wise indians (native americans) passing around marijuana. We weren't hippies or punk rockers, but more misfit Brady Bunchers with ring around the collars!

  • listen to some of his music n learn, thats where it all started! and other bands too, thats why ure gettin music you like now??? simples!!! :-)

  • Level 42 is funky. This is crap.

  • BOY, CAN YOU SEE FERRY LOOKING LIKE THIS IN 1971? GREAT SONG. BUT I KEEP THINKING HE'S LOOKING FOR ENO SOMEWHERE IN THAT CROWD.

  • @801liveable the BUT is misplaced

  • "You're dressed to kill and guess who's dying?" "Loneliness is a crowded room." "All together all alone."

    Great lyrics.

  • "You're dressed to kill and guess who's dying?"

  • No one on Earth but Bryan Ferry could wear that suit and still get laid!

  • @boogiedahomey True.TRUE.

  • @boogiedahomey David Bowie

  • @rosebud8393 - David Bowie IS that suit!

  • @boogiedahomey I AM A HUG FAN OF ROXY...BUT YOUR COMMENT REGARDING THE SUIT CRACKED ME RIGHT UP!

  • I have always loved this song .It reminds me of the local disco that I used to go to every Saturday night .'Dance Away' was released in late April (1979) and I remember that the windows had to be blacked out . But I would notice daylight through the odd gap and realize that the disco would soon stop over the summer period !

  • The guy at the 1:45 mark, the one with the cut off denim jacket, cigarette and fu man chu 'stache looks like a Village People reject.

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? 80 was greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

  • 0:14

    kultnacht (cultnight) ZDF (german television)

    LOL

  • is it me or is that suit realy sexy

  • Gawd Damm sonna fa beech what I would have given to be there.

  • Glam socialite muse? Isn't this like the Bee Gees and Barry Manilow? Lots of reverb. Smug music. Harmless. Never sticks a fork in it. After the classic seventies, this led a generation away into punk, then to the "Me" generation of the eighties with Whitney Houston loving children while blowing snow up her nose, leading finally to the dot com bust of the nineties. From there, everything went to bloody hell leading up to this present choas of mass murder and mayhem. Rock and roll!

  • @MisterNifty "Glam socialite muse? Isn't this like the Bee Gees and Barry Manilow?"

Only to someone whose got the subtlety of a wooden plank thunked against forehead

This was also actually at the height of Punk

To compare it to Whitney Houston is .... beyond .... retarded

I bet you dont even know what Rock and roll is ....

  • @sclapione Okay. I can see how people could learn to love this stupid music. I made the mistake of making love to a beautiful doll while listening to a really stupid song by Phil Collins. Now I can't get enough of that song as, every time I listen to it, I think about making love to that sweet little woman! I figure that's why the world has these kinds of stupid songs. In comparison, while playing the most beautiful song, I could make love to the ugliest woman because I'm deep.

  • 00:47

You may think those two yokels dancing is bad, but so does that chap behind them in the white t shirt. He takes a look at them and cracks a smile.

  • Ohmygod I love this song.

  • sik song yo

  • Dance away with KERMET THE FROG

  • Great song! And that suit is great too.

  • Its a shame that Roxy Music seemed to always be playing in these pop venues.

Their music was always a bit more sophisticated.

But I guess it paid the bills.

And if only Brian Eno had stayed with the band, how good would have that been.

  • @stubbieoz If Eno stayed I wonder what they would have sounded like?

  • This video is a paranoia, look at Bryan Ferry how elegant and sophisticated he looks while there are some people in the audience that seemed to be motorhead hard followers while they were dancing this song! Those were the 70’s and the 80’s, the total paranoia, I think there were many drugs around

  • @BlackSkyThunder Paranoia ? What the fuck are you talking about ?

People liked different kinds of music, different types partied together, naturally, normally

  • tashy at 00.48, horrible.

  • the guy with he tash 00.48 to 00.53,what a tool.

  • Where do you think Duran Duran got they're coolness from?

  • @wolfstyle68 Japan-that's where it came from,not roxy music.

  • Comment removed

  • More of the genius at work. Regarding fashion....There was a desire to experiment more then and not just look like everyone else. Better than everyone having the same bland (or should I say Brand?) look.

  • Roxy Music can't be judge by our 2011's limited standards about art and music. By the way we have the most ridiculous girl in the pop scene right now: Lady Gaga, she is the avatar of serious bad taste!

  • Ah, Bryan Ferry revealing his unctuous self in the most louche manner possible. I always thought that Roxy Music was better heard than seen--there was always an air of fascism about Bryan Ferry. I heard he even threatened to stick a pink triangle on Brian Eno and send him on a one-way ticket to the Castro Ghetto in San Francisco. Fearing for his life, Eno reminded Bryan that he came from a long line of Ferry's and fled through the back door...pfffft!

  • @guinnesstrail Yeh & that time when u fucked an Alien in the most louche manner possible. i always thought afterwards that i lost respect for you.

  • hahahaha look at the ones that are dancing they look as thoughthave come from a farming convention god knows what roxy thoght ofthem its just not the gear its the dancing aswell crikey if you thoght Bryans moveswere bad takealook at the audience hahahaha hahaha

  • sexy bastard : )............and listen thegilston....its your song xx

  • Playing to a room full of bogans - and still he keeps his 'cool'

    How cool is that?

    Triple cool points from me.

  • @unit6128 Very normal then

  • I must ask, who can wear a lime green suite?

  • 00:47

Dear God, is that Super Mario????

  • artist ! no comment! i love ! BRIAN FERRY more than this

  • Who cares? I don´t. I love, love, love this... and him and Roxy Music <3

  • Bryan Ferry has the exact same dance for every video he's every done. Yet, I still find it oddly original.

  • What a peacock! Love it!

  • Hale and Pace dancing like puffs at start

  • Smooth as silk

  • wtf "the boys dancing" at 47 -54 seconds??? lol!!!!

  • Bryan is not gay. I think you people that talk about clothing that industry people wear seem to forget that they have people that buy the clothes they wore. I know I may catch some stuff about Bowie too. David Bowie's ex-wife bought that crap!

  • LOL..Check out the guy 0:50.

  • lol I love how long it takes them to zoom in at the beginning!

  • Ilove this the sit !, heis a good singer

  • Bryan Ferry = Pure SEXyyyyyy ... shove off you Hippie (roxyferryfan) who cares what he does w/ his wanker ... !!!

  • omg the guy at 1:45 is amAHHHHssssing

  • Thats the colour of the new Ford Fiesta in the states now pmsl it took the 20 yaers,.

  • The Brian Eno look never really did catch on, did it? But the voice speaks for itself.

  • The bloke with the moustache and the dungarees - he's either German or he's entering an Asterix book look-alike competition. By the way, if people criticise the suit, it's a lot better than the Genesis cast-offs he was wearing a few years before this vid (heels, glitter, flares, etc.). Compared with that this suit is the dog's bollocks.

  • THIS MAN IS BRILLIANT X

  • He can wear whatever he wants when he wants, musicians have no excuse, so who are you?

  • yep, germans, I figure.

  • german ,the crowd.

  • am I wrong? why do I feel a big orgy happened after this song?

  • Not many people could get away with that suit.......

    Tanx for posting

  • All together, they're all alone....Killer song. Brian, Phil, the best.

  • I had a dream, that one day a generation will be born that will be completely tone deaf and unable to acquire "taste," even with time......I awoke and realized that they're already here.

Real music gets better with age.

  • Who's that bloke at 1.43 with a fag hanging out of his chops. are the crowd australian?

  • Love the music, and looking at all the same sex dancers.

  • I like the suit. (I'm a jealousy guy, I suppose). Really, wouldn't mind having one.

  • "Loneliness is a crowded room" is an even better lyric.

  • I close my eyes...and dance away...SO BRILLIANT. So Suave.

  • @SunnyDays951 I actually play a musical instrument so I understand that these guys aren't doing much. I think that is why Brian Eno left the band. Gee, if this music is great, I could create a hundred songs like this in a day and I'm not just saying that to be difficult. I like putting effort into my art so people will feel special about themselves when experiencing it. These guys were all whipped cream without any of the ice cream beneath. Shallow as in just making the girls cry.

  • @MisterNifty

    sure faggot.

  • i can barely hear this

  • You're dressed to kill, and guess who's dying

    The greatest song lyric evah!

  • Where everyone is so Damn Critical of eachother."Look at the way he dancing"

look at those Jeans" "look at the guy laughing at the other guy" It's like it's cool now to be an asshole to ppl and thrive off of ppl's insecurities and misery.Instead of trying to make good memories. This is the different between Gen Xr's,and generation "Y me's",and the generation Zoo animals that are unfortunately breeding today.

  • I think all of the robot youtube generation children whom are making posts that are insulting the people in the audience as well as the members of Roxy Music are only doing this coz a small part of them deep down inside wishes they were there.Of this era in time where ppl of all "Social Scenes" would get together no matter who they were, where they were from, what color, and just Dance Away.Their comments are actually a reflection of what it's like to go out and TRY and have a good time nowadays...

  • He is a perfect Man, born ten years to soon...

  • @girlfriendofnone No your'e not, he's got a 23 year old girlfriend.

  • Check out the Lord of the rings hobbit at 00:48 and check out the bloke laughing at him at 00:53, classic shit. LMFAO

  • he is not gay he has kids and a girlfriend

  • No one should ever doubt Bryans sexuality. He is a professional pussyfucker.

  • @roxyferryfan dude you just made sex sound so repulsive.

  • @kaliyuta right ! lol

  • @roxyferryfan

    :-)

  • @roxyferryfan Bryan Ferry isn't a patch on Brian Eno (in pulling terms), Phil Manzanera once said that they used to draw straws and the unlucky git who lost had to room with Brian Eno as every evening Brian Eno would bring a woman back with him.

The only reason he's dating a much younger woman is because she's a goldigger.

  • @Shearnster What a load of bollocks. He's a rare breed, that's most likely why she's (now married?) him.

  • @roxyferryfan

Agreed! Every hetrosexual man should be like Bryan Ferry!

  • @roxyferryfan But an awful dancer

  • @Newzchspy

It might look a little corny now but back in the 70s&80s mate..that dance used to make the girls wet between the legs,I used to think he was a posing twat..but I loved his music, still do.

  • @Stevesopenmind Maybe in your neck of the woods it made em crazy?? Here' they'd be running for the hills like you were some type of moron??

  • @Newzchspy *looks at faves*

So Milli Vanilli is more the type, in your neck of the woods ?

  • @roxyferryfan you're so right. A shame there are not more of his king. From a woman, with all the desire music can inspire and give tenfold.

  • great band, although he is some sort of grown longbottom, I cant avoid thinking so.

  • For everyone who is saying Ferry looks ridiculous: look at the fucking crowd. The 80s (also late 70s) was a decade of shitty trends and even worse fashion but sublime music.

If someone wore that suit today they would be lifted on a mose and paraded around the area of London owned by the GQ city state and become heralded as an 'original' and 'daring' fashion ambassador for 'vintage retro outfitting'.

  • @Clembo OMG! THAT IS SO TRUE!

  • @Clembo Sad but true.

  • @Clembo Just keep it buttoned and listen to the music.

  • @Clembo

"look at the fucking crowd".....that's so true. I'm hysterical laughing.

  • Why does this vid have so many views? Its awful.

  • @kmp3000 ah...its 1979. you can (and some did) get away with pretty much anything at the time. some rules didn't apply to some at that time. perhaps if you listen to the lyrics from both the group effort and his solo outings...you mind may change.

  • @kmp3000 Better than Level42

    lol

  • Wow! Quite the contrast to my imaginings over the years, listening and never seeing any video accompaniment. LOL. Love it.

  • Comment removed

  • Kermit the frog actually based his look on the Brian Ferry performance.

  • i love that suit, it is awesome XD x

  • @konnykontant ..........how old are you 12? He was married to one of the most beautiful women on the planet

  • @konnykontant you're an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @konnykontant my name is an easy one to remember. i don't see how making my name memorable justifies me as an idiot. you on the other hand appear more worthy of the title. i don't need to know you to infer you are an idiot by the simple and neandertholic comment that you've made. if you can't understand the video, and have nothing good to say about it, please fuck off.

  • That had to be the most unenthusiastic or social unacceptable crowd I think I have ever seen! They'd probably let me in then on account number 2! Otherwise, I'd try and climb on stage and wrestle Bryan Ferry's lime green jacket off him

  • DEMAIS, maior viagem

  • WHERE can I get a Lime Green suit like Bryan has here! Holy Crap that thing is cool!

  • @countwolfula It's him that is cool, he fills the suit, not the other way round

  • I like the guy in the white tshirt (starts @ 3:14) dancing with his hands in his pockets.

  • @phileustace LOL. At least when we die we can say "we lived and enjoyed explored all the possibilities" When you die all that can be said about you was "never did anything without double checking if that was ok and considered cool. Thought creativity was gay. Thought gay was an insult. Terrified to be original, and not to be accepted by other dull & brain dead guys. Never really lived, just critised".

  • Love this song. Love Bryan Ferry.Brings back so many memories.

  • What a shame the sound is almost non existent. So nice to see Bryan Ferry and gorgeous Gary Tibbs.

Funny how in the past guys could wear odd clothes and even make up, like in the 80's and no one would assume they'd be gays for that. And now we have all this judgemental boring kids who have this silly and sad concept on how to look if you are the least creative, then they say it's gay.

    Sooo sad.

  • @Xiroi87 Thank you. You said it well. It's true, back then, men were so free to express their creativity and nobody would judge them. I remember how people loved Boy George for the way he looked. Nowadays, it's like the word gay has become the new derogatory term to put people down.

  • @BlissfulWishes You're right it's a derogatory term used against anyone who's creative and willing to be different! They think they're cool and they're nothing but dull, boring and predictable sheep. They need to check with their friends what's cool, and are terrified to try to be original.

Punk, new wave, dark wave, synth, all new stuff that came from a generation where people was cool because they made a point in being different. That ended in the 90's.

  • @Xiroi87 totally agree with you, artists back then were individual and made a point of being that way in theyre dress sense, attitude and in theyre music. We need to get that mindset back again for the sake of the music industry

  • @danw1374 We need that mindset back for the sake of sanity in all aspects of life. I mean, look at that poor phielustace: someone whose idea of personal taste is being instructed to by people just as dull and ignorant to learn what's cool. And if someone is really creative, oh no, God forbid, let's insult them. Which proves how little self-confidence they have after all. And what a sad life they're heading to.

  • @Xiroi87 Yep. Glad to see others making similar observations. Nice when someone speaks up !

  • he looks just like harry potters character longbottom

  • @TheLzeppelin68

    LOL !!

  • @TheLzeppelin68 Why would you mention that crap here ?

  • I want that green suit!

  • He is so sexy!! omg just noticed the little dance move across the floor at the end lol, effortlessly cool :P

  • dance .....

  • Yesterdayyy.... GOD DAMN Great song. Brian F is the SH1t. All Roxy Music better than good. Probably never see talent like this again.

  • always was one of those effortlessly cool guys. even in a ninja turtle green suit. never met a girl at the time that didn't fancy him.

  • beautiful voice

  • This song needs MORE WOODBLOCK!!!

I have a fever and the only cure is WOODBLOCK.

    hahah
