Printing Presses. Print your own cash. Go to jail. Own a bank and print untold trillions, then loan it out to collect obscene profits on the interest? Why that's the American way!
Response:
banks don't print money, the federal reserve does...and they don't just do it all the time, they charge the banks a higher discount rate to print money for them when they can't back up loans via reserves...this picture is just stupid
@RKAddict101 That Rothbard would want to be a professor at UC Berkeley. I know he didn't say Berkeley, but that is the implication; It's kind of an economics inside joke. It's akin to saying that George W. Bush's aspiration is to be the chief executive of the ACLU.
A listener alerted me to this, so I listened a bit. The "quotation" of my words (they can be read at Free Banking dot org) is, to put it gently, rather freely edited, while the context surrounding them (including that for my blog's title) is neglected altogether. But then, this is to be expected, as Joe is nothing if not a consistent Rothbardian.
"...or, that of the of a bachelor professor in California? Murray's aspiration"
Haha, I think just about everybody in that room missed the joke (I think I heard a quick laugh in the back). I found it hilarious even though Joe's joke delivery is often quick and awkward.
@MrCivilLibertarian Yeah, Joe usually sticks to his notes quite tightly. Most people that do that usually have a 1-2 second phrase or ending of a sentence that they state while they turn to the next page, I think that he missed the flow. But, man can he talk/write about monetary theory.
@mzmaj7 I think he means the first quotation in the video from freebanking(dot)org/2011/07/28/me-murray-and-milton/

I need an opinion on this:

@tonidepoli Could you be a little more specific? (who are you? which quotation? etc.)

@1:20 I like how he had to turn the page to read "And Milton Friedman".

@synestheticmonotony I will let Friedman off not knowing what was happening on the ground in the US economy at the end of his life
