  • how is the quality if u convert vsh to pc and to dvd?

  • @shujuan5210 Just as good or slightly better perhaps

  • How about movies with Macrovision encoding on them ?

    Can they be recorded ?

  • will it able to play pal region tape?

  • yeah, but this machine isn't hifi stereo, just linear mono, so it doesn't help me with my 700+ hifi stereo/dual recorded VHS tapes, 300+ S-VHS tapes not included... ;)

  • Will copyrighted taped convert to your PC too ? Thanks for your time !

  • @Johnnyboy792 I am not sure tbh. Most of the conversions I have done were either self-made home videos or stuff I had video taped off the TV years ago. I might give it a try, I am sure it should work ok

  • @Johnnyboy792 That was an interesting question so I just gave it a try with a few seconds of "Cats and Dogs". It recorded fine and uploaded to YT ok. I will, of coarse. remove it tomorrow. You can see it at

  • @Johnnyboy792 It wont let me paste the URL in so you can see the video on my channel Cats and Dos, hope this helps

  • That's ok. I so appreciate the help K9 ! I'm sold on it ... thanks :0)

  • I would have liked to have tried this unit as I have tons of old vhs tapes to transfer. But the bugger seems to be it wont work with windows 7 . I have an old xp but no hard drive space to load vids only 64gb of ram on it.

  • I have one of these but just cannot get past the bit where you enter how much video you want to capture. We type in the hrs & mins boxes and press ok but another box comes up to say we have to enter the hrs & mins! Discovered that those 2 boxes revert to 0 every time! Did this happen to you and if so, how did you get round it? I tried contacting the company but they are not responding! Thanks!

  • @Louizalass You have to make sure that there is enough space on the destination (ie; hard drive or wherever) to accomodate the space needed to upload the video file. I started to get problems with mine but then realised I had virtually used up all the space on my pc's hard drive. So i bought an Iomega USB hard rive ith a massive 500 GB capacity. That might be your problem, hope it helps

  • @Louizalass I bought it on ebay brand new for aroun £50 GB sterling, its;s capacity is over 4 times the size of my pathetic 112 Gb on my pc> Got enough room for many more video hours, when thats full i may get another one, far easier than burning them all to DVD

  • Hey, you sound like Tom hanks!!

  • Hi K9! Thinking about getting one of these and have been reading a few reviews. One question I can't find an answer to is how big is the end result image? When you watch it back after the conversion, does it fill the screen, or stay the same size as that preview screen we can see in your video? If it fills the screen, is it still as good quality as the original, or does it get pixelated? Hope you can help!

  • @KungFuJunky Only just seen this, yes, it comes full screen and as good at leats as the original video

  • Hi K9TMD, do you know if you can go from PC to VHS cassette (the other way around) using this peice of equipment?

  • @OBSysteme Never tried it, but I seem to remember reading that it can't do it the other way round, I will dig out my instructions and check

  • @K9TMD hey thanks for checking... if it can.. I will buy it... I want to put things to tape for an art project (tape degration/manipulation)

  • Is it possible to highlight, copy and paste the title? Because my keyboard is plugged into the USB port and I always have to unplug it so I can plug in my webcam.

  • The video that is generated gets what resolution?

  • @ronane no idea, sorry

  • Sorry, but I must have missed where the camera is attached.... Is it to the computer, using any USB port, or where? Are the VID/AUDIO in jacks on the front toi be used FROM another VHS player, or what?

    Thanks.

  • The camera is attached to the VCR2PC via the VID/AUDIO (yellow and white) jacks as you sayFUNGU, then a USB connects from the VCR2PC straight to your computer. There is a switch which allows you to switch over from recording either from the camcorder or an inserted VHS tape. You dont need another VHS player, this machine takes VHS tapes and plays them back, and you have the option to record from the VHS tapes straight to your computer. Hope this helps

  • This thing looks awesome! I really want to buy one.

Where can you get them? I'm from Canada.

What stores could I get one from?

  • Sorry wilkes85, no idea in Canada,I bought mine online from a site in the UK. Just try a google search, and i think they may be around on Ebay too, sorry I cant help further

  • Thank you, K(,

It is unclear in the installation directions if USB 1 or USB 2 is necessary. Some posts recommend ONLY 2. What say you.

I've had absolutely no luck configuring this thing. getting it to work. Any further help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, again.

  • ok thanks andy

  • all i know is that its mpeg but dosnt say mpeg 2,3,4 just mpeg im bamboozled andy lol

  • Yeah, I must admit, all those formats do get confusing. All I can say if there is a way to convert it to another format might work, i will have a look 2moz , speak soon

  • sorry what i ment was i have 1 of these machines and when i save the tapes footage i open up wmm and add the video to the wmm and all i get is audio so il have to try n save in a different format

  • Right, I am not sure what the problem is, I have had no trouble with that in the past. When I get chance I will experiment a bit and see if I can see why its happening. Just a thought, when you drag the inported video down onto the timeline make sure you drop it into the video section and not the audio section

  • when i drop it in the time line it wont allow me to drop it in the video section just the audio thanks for the help

  • Uhm, not sure what is going on there. I just dropped an mpeg video into the video section, worked ok, then I did the same thing but dropped it into the audio section, and thats all it played, blank picture with the audio. Not sure TBH, what format is the video you are trying to play saved in?

  • i heared you say u use windows movie maker but when i use it its just audio can you let me know where i am going wrong thanks

  • Sorry milne, I am not sure what you mean. When you import a video into WMM it only plays as audio but not the video? Make sure the video file is one of the formats that WMM recognises I suppose is one thing to check

  • ripped of

  • rubbish

  • Can I connect a betacam player to vcr 2 ion ?

    Thanks for the answer.

    Johanna

  • Sorry Johanna, I really dont know, maybe Google for the Ion website they may be able to answer your query, sorry for late reply just seen this

  • Can you use this converter without a camcorder?

  • Yep, just put in your old VHS tape and off it goes, no problem

  • nice bit ok kit :D
