I like Canelo a lot. He reminds me of Cotto, they have similar styles although Cotto's combinations are more compact. I like the way he uses the uppercut, which is rare in a young fighter. I don't see the need to put him with the big names yet because he does needs to improve his defense a little bit. The one thing, just like any young fighter, I'm concern is his chin, Jose Cotto, who is really a 135-140 pounder, rocked Canelo pretty good in their fight.

After all Jose first ko lost came to Saul and vastly improved on speed. I agree though no rush to put him with Paul,Perro or Martinez not just yet. Plus there were fighters that gave it their all even though they knew they were mismatched; they tried to prove promoters wrong. The problems dealing with promoters isn’t limited to one or a couple but all. Certainly they seem to lack a love of the sport as boxing has many problem issues which could have been changed or been fixed decades ago. I still love the sport and glad this fight was free.

I like Canelo a lot. He reminds me of Cotto, they have similar styles although Cotto's combinations are more compact. I like the way he uses the uppercut, which is rare in a young fighter. I don't see the need to put him with the big names yet because he does needs to improve his defense a little bit. The one thing, just like any young fighter, I'm concern is his chin, Jose Cotto, who is really a 135-140 pounder, rocked Canelo pretty good in their fight.

@elmasqmasq After this fight his chin is pretty solid, Ryan I know is not the best but still is a hard puncher and ranked pretty high. After all Jose first ko lost came to Saul and vastly improved on speed. I agree though no rush to put him with Paul,Perro or Martinez not just yet. Ryan pre fight said Saul was a weak and had flaws post he was saying he is a future star and that his punches were hard.

I think he's incredibly creative and gauges what he can do before he does it. I never really saw much that rhodes could or did do something against. I know he's young but he would have the awareness to know that he could never be this aggressive or flashy against an A class fighter like Martinez.

If you're looking for a ducker, look no farther than Floyd, who moved up to WW and fought baldomir, hatton, oscar, and then retired when the next fights for him were Cotto, Mosley, and Margarito. As soon as these three welters beat each other, he returned and fought lightweight Marquez.

This was one of the most boring and again lopsided, purposely mismatched fights and GoldenBoy should be ashamed again. Setting up a older slower fighter without a chance to win against younger fighters isn’t new but this is why boxing is losing fans. Even Alvarez’s crowd spent more time watching the savages fighting in the stands than the fight. Even now, Manny moving up in weight would kill Alvarez, so would Floyd. Boxing is ruining itself setting up supposed champions thru mismatching.

@king,There was a brief period where matches made more matches and more money like Ali vs. Frazier. Plus there were fighters that gave it their all even though they knew they were mismatched; they tried to prove promoters wrong. The problems dealing with promoters isn’t limited to one or a couple but all. Certainly they seem to lack a love of the sport as boxing has many problem issues which could have been changed or been fixed decades ago. I still love the sport and glad this fight was free.

There is no question this kid has talent,he had in front of him a credible opponent(at least on paper)but this fight instead of telling us something about how good this kid truly is,it turned out to be a showcase performance,Rhodes didn't really tried to do anything to change the pace of the bout,too tentative,unwilling to engage the few punches he threw lacked authority,Alvarez like I said has the tools,but needs to use them against someone with enough skills to really test them.

@DavidColumbia Sometimes Spanish-speaking people totally change the gender, we are the knigs of nicknames, just like pur Portuguese brothers. For example " zorrita " Soto means " little female fox ", or the great " chiquita " Gonzalez means l" little " but referring to a female. Or if you are black, inseatd of " negro " ( normally used in Spanish, no crying for racism), they call you " negra ". Hope that helped.
