  • Erin Go Bragh!!!!!!!

  • Romans is imigranth from nother africa(800 BC) Vhy you sink Yuliy Cesar kill so many celts and germans(about 900 000)becous they vas diferent race, they hav not black hair and white skin, romans evrybody hav brovn skin and hav black hair.Evrybody in the europe vith black hair is mixed or poor midetiraynian donkey!Respeck from slaws Ukreyn celtians brothers. Save the Europe, kick they mediteraynians esses beack tu asia and afrika vhere du they came from. They vrayt history thet is comfortal for them

  • :why is 2:06 the only picture depicting a celt with red hair? I thought red hair was a celtic thing?

  • Almost half of Roman forces were auxiliaries, and they were Gauls, Germans, Numidians, Greeks, Armenians, and so on... Romans didn't conquer all their lands by themselves. And auxiliaries sometimes turned against Romans using their own weapons and knowing their tactic, as happend for example at Teutoburg Forest (9 A.D). In the end it were barbaric armies that served under Romans, that brought doom upon them. It is difficult situation to fight your own army :)

  • whenever i hear this song,my skin is cowed..btw,kelts and germans mixed in western europe, just like slavs mixed with illyrians in balcans,im from there,i had blond hair while i was younger,i now have almost dark hair

  • @Citzen92 At least you are European. You must be proud.

  • @powstaniecpolski where are you from?

  • @cartoonkingforeever Lechistan.

  • @powstaniecpolski where is that?

  • Little short cute celtic folks, me clap their tiny little heads before go viking berserk and smash their foreheads in with big waraxe of Odin. *burps*

  • @TinyArts Little, some 10 cm 20 cm less than vikings, but with wider shoulders than them, meaning they had more balance, and even more strength in vertical strikes.

XD I doubt you could win so easily.

  • @StellandBlood I'm just messing around :)

  • 2:39 The battle of Adrianoppole

  • they migrated all over Europe that doesnt make em change race or color.

  • not all Celts are white

  • Comment removed

  • @BataviNL dude the Celts migrated all over the place it's a high possibility the where Celts of different races

  • Thanks for voting my comment top! Excuse my spelling mistake... Doe.

Should of also mentioned Ireland and Scotland, DNA. After all these years its still here R1b.

  • Comment removed

  • Well my mother is Irish so I so feel a connection, thanks

  • Thanks a lot for the quick response! Yeah, I have some of these pics myself. Found the one we were talking about in Russian book "The new soldier" ("Новый солдат"), issue No. 19, named "Roman legionary, 161-284. A.D." ("Римский легионер, 161-284. г. н.э."). The text above the illustration clearly says: "Legionary, second half of 3rd century". ;)

Thanks once more, I really love that song. And, btw, really good work on this and similar videos. Greetings.

  • @Krashnaak Thnx

  • Nice Osprey pics. Love the music. Can you give me the name of the song? Btw, watch for inaccuracies. E.g. that warrior on 0:10 is not a Celt, it's Roman legionary. Cheers.

  • @Krashnaak Actually I think it's a germanic auxilliary ( I was very much a noob when I made this video..) also the song is called "The Gael"

  • @Krashnaak some celts were mercenaries who served in the roman military

  • @THUNDERandSTEEL Which is widely known. But what's your point? :D The soldier on that particular picture is a Roman legionary. You don't know what ethnicity is he, or do you? People of various ethnicities served in Roman arms, and although the Celts were among them, you can't tell this soldier belongs to Celtic culture, to which the tribute is given by this video, as far as I'm aware. Cheers.

  • @Krashnaak well he looks like an iberian celt who has put lime in his hair to lighten it before he enters battle also he has a rectangular celtic type shield attached to his back and is wearing chainmail which was an invention of the celts , he looks like an iberian celt in my opinion

  • @THUNDERandSTEEL As far as I can tell, the shield on his back is not rectangular. :D Furthermore, it's one of typical roman shields, and even tough curved rectangular shield was mostly in use amongst Roman legionaries, flat round shield (the one on his back) was also in use. Considering the chainmail armor, you should know Romans had lorica hamata (google it) - the chainmail shirt as standard equipment for legionaries, as well as for auxiliaries.

  • @THUNDERandSTEEL Starting from the 1st century A.D, Romans began using lorica segmentata atop lorica hamata, but in the centuries to come, chainmail had been often used as standard sole upper body armor in Roman arms. And what about the pillum on his back? And the gladius in his hands? ;)

  • @Krashnaak again that pilum and gladius were copied from celtic weapons or the barbarians as the roman historians liked to call them , look ok that warrior looks like a mercenary serving under a roman military division with his own celtic shield in my opnion i think he may a celtic mercenary , if you think thats just a roman soldier then fair enough thats your opinion , but something tells me that hes not roman cause his shield looks celtic maybe from gaul

  • @THUNDERandSTEEL Lol, ok, suit yourself. ;)

  • @THUNDERandSTEEL iberians are not celts there natives of spanish people and britons the ones of britan english etc...

  • Great upload man long live celts a truly great tribe of noble warriors

  • wales is now a saxon country with hardly any celtic blood genetic science proves this the only celtic thing left is their 2nd language which is a relatively new linguistic branch related to the saxon language more than the celtic one

  • @mrBubbles597 Sounds like someone is jealous.

  • Comment removed

  • @owainmeurig Do notice take to much notice! The Welsh have a high purity, R1b in Wales is about 89% plus.

The Welsh are ancient Britons and their DNA has remained nearly the same.

  • @Taurus9252 very interesting.

  • @polarisreseau yes english are britons celts but their culture is germanic saxon

  • there is hardly any celtic blood left in britain only pckets in the scottish higlands and pockets in ireland and some in cornwall, blood is now dispersed their is celtic blood in galicia spain and in north africa as well as a minority in portugal and britanny saxons have the majority not many people today have the right to call themselves celts

  • @mrBubbles597

the purest Gaelic are in the Basque country, they are called Vardules or gipiuzkoa, alone Irish have the same genetic purity.

  • @mrBubbles597

the in most cases Gaelic people, are, basques, brittons, Irish, welsh, Scotsman, gascons, Breton, Dutch and Australian. The medium rate of these populations attains 80 %.

  • I still dont understand why this song was used in a film about Native Americans. That failes on levels unheard of.

  • @LaCosaNostra132 Okay ignore my typo. Yes that was a fail too LOL

  • cool:)

  • The Celts were so tough that the Romans built a wall separating Scotland from the rest of Roman Britain.

  • awesome vid!

  • some of the celt tribs - western Belgae-Eastern Belgae-Dobuni-coritani-cornovii-iceni-Brigantes-Weald those are the ones i no of in england- i ciome from the cornovii area ? which tribe did you famly belong too ?

  • well one of the pics on ere was of a famous gaul and julius caesar ? picts-vikings-saxons-germans-scots-but no celts ??? you even darcens ? even a late roman legiony . and dnt say i dont no what im going on about im a celt which is a proper britain . but a good vid any way

  • @GGMacarthur Are you aware the there were Celts in Northern Germania?

  • @clannmacgregor well duh

  • @clannmacgregor

the Celtic or keltos a Greek word is which corresponds in Basque asko word, euska or vasko and that means most extremely, the mighty (read Sergei Sarotzin), it is people IE with R1b / ht15 who regroups basque-saxon-italic or gaelic-germanic-celtic.

  • Hey dont get me wrong the song is still really fantastic. So I wont fuck myself quite yet OK LOL

  • Yep all Anglo-Saxonism here no Celtic oneness of all that is here my friends!

  • @Epsillion70 Hey, you know what? Fuck you! :D

  • @524mab Yes?

  • @Epsillion70 are you saying nothing of celt culture entered the saxon world...you should go back to duran duran and huey lewis and the news

  • @Epsillion70 duran duran and huey lewis represent oneness...huh

  • The second illustration is a roman legionary from the III century AD.

  • The first two images were not of Celts but Germans, one a Suebian and the other either an Anglo, Saxon, Frisian or Geat.

  • @Awenek what you want? a cookie? xD

  • @SteelWool91 No sarcasm would be fine. Simply stating the facts, if you do not like them, sorry.

  • @Awenek not sarcasm, just screwing around, I know i've mis-matched alot of images but iv'e been told over 9000 times that i have, and i suspect i shall be told again 9000 moar times

  • @SteelWool91 It happens, I guess brace for more comments! Be strong! :-)

  • beatiful melody...GREAT PEOPLE , THESE KELTS ARE... MY ANCESTORS ,THE DACIANS USED TO FIGHT WITH THEM...BUT THEY ,THE DACIANS WERE ALSO ALLIED WITH THE GAULS ,WHO WERE RELATED WITH THE KELTS BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVE WERE KELTS

  • Lol Ooo is beautiful celts, celts galaicos in galicia and catalonia

  • the celts are cool :)

  • Would be better but for half the images not showing celts at all. The second image is a roman legionary! Always good to see the late Angus McBrides work, excellent artist.

  • the celts lived in many parts of europe and technically lived in asia as well(in what was called Galatia in modern day central turkey.

  • Its hard to believe isn't it?

  • these pics are from a book i have

abd if you dident know most of the celts were over the english chanel but they were strong in Germany untill rome...

  • I find sad that most people think that the celts lived only in Ireland and Scotland or Wales. Here in Austria also they lived also(still live, descandents).Hallstatt lies here. After this town a celtic period has been named.

  • But were´nt tha irish also celts?Do know something about the celtish kingdom Dal Raida?

  • Of course i know about Dal Riada. It brought together the land that they called "alba" which the english eventually conquered politically and culturally and named it "scotland" after the scottish, who were an irish tribe that settled on the west coast and west isles. It is accepted name by everyone. Almost the whole of scotland spoke it's own language (scottish gaelic) until the english banned it after the '43. The real scottish were irish colonists themselves. Scottishness is a debatable thing.

  • last of the mac/mc mohicans lol

  • love the music !!!:p

  • NO MORE BROTHERS WAR!

Germanic, Celtic, Slavic, Latin, Greek, Hungarian, etc. people are ALL WHITES! We are brothers, we have to unite against our enemies or we wil be perished!

  • I also have doubts about the Yugoslavian figures! they opened an old graveyard of 1500 years or more in the Basque country (Adeleïta), and they are surprised because basques ancient resemble basques actual but bigger and also of warlike less dolichocephalic francs than basques and therefore less big and were of the group indigenous I1b Europe and basques them were indo-european put together R1b-ht15 as Celtic Gaelic.

They so know how the Celtic and also francs were

  • Síla,hrdost,krev a čest jen nejsilnější přežijí!!!

  • and north spain keltss Asturias Cantabri

Galicia,Aragon and Catalonica ,Andorra Occitania thisis the province the kelts in spain and no youngest and dark is whithe

  • On 2:03 is Vandal and Alan worior in north Africa !!!!!

  • aww ya got meh....

  • Yeah, Milan has the name that has a translation on only Slav language because it was a founded by the Celts.

    Dream on Dream on !!!

  • epic:)

  • Thanks

  • I wouldn't call Vercingetorix and his Gauls Celtic but still an excellent video and I love "The Gael"

  • well when i was making this, i was under the foolish presumption that gauls, celts, germans ect were all from the same familiar family and added the celt moniker, plus i was at a loss for images, either way i should just rename this tribes of europe or somthing, i dont know

  • No worries. I'm sure some Gauls and Germanicans were of Celtic lineage.

  • thanks man

  • Umm...Celts basically originated from Gaulish tribes, they WERE Gaulish tribes...

  • Some were, such as the tribes that existed in present-day Brittany, but others such as the present Scottish, Irish, and Cornish are descended from tribes in Ireland. Gaels and Picts mostly.

  • the Gaels and Picts were originally descendents of Saka (or Scythian in greek) who spoke E.Iranian, and the tribe Gallic or Gaelic reciecved its name from Gillak which is the province of Gillan in N.W or N.E of Iran. "Gaelic" is most likely a mixture of Greek or Roman to it because of the "ae" in Gaelic or Gael.

  • Not at all. About 200 cultures use 'ae' in their words. So that theory is completely disproved.

  • ja but those cultures all take it from the Romans and their Latin roots which is technically Greek.

The Gauls/Celts had many wars with Greeks/Macedonians and mixed

  • You do know that wars are about killing each other, not sleeping with each other...right? Gauls were around long before Romans. And Greeks arrived from Slavic culture. Notice how close the letters of Greek resemble that of Russian letters. Plus, Scandinavian cultures also use 'ae' They have stayed on that continent for millions of years. And have not associated with the Slavs. That means they don't have any resemblance to Greek or Romans or Slavs besides the 'ae'.

  • for the wars: if a tribe during ancient times, fought another tribe/empire etc. for 100s or even 1000s of years they would obviously share eachothers culture, in that 100-1000 year the enemy is more popular to the other side, it would be all about each tribes enemy, hence people travel there etc. and after the war the tribe, which usually becomes a part of the victor's tribe would mix with eachother less than a second (Alexander, almost all empires, tribes: Greco-Persian wars, etc.)

    continued.

  • continuation:

    about the Greeks:

Are you 100% sure that Greeks descended from the Slavs? from a book, internet? and if so, then were the Slavs the Ariyans that invaded the aborigins of Greece, or were the Slavs the aborigins?

    About Scandanavia:

i have no 100% evidence of this, but the Scandanavians using "ae" is a good evidence that the Greeks passed on it to the Celts. Germans who are descendents of the Scandanavians, mixed with Greeks passing it on to the Scandanavians.

    continued

  • continuation:

secondly, who long did the Scandanavians actually exist in the continent of Europe? i don't know, but i would really like to know, i appreciate it.

    conclusion:

so you are stating that the "ae" came from the Scandanavians? because i'm pretty sure it came from Greeks.

    RELAVENCE:

Why does the "AE" matter to you so much? it has very little relavence to my first comment to Steelwool91. are you trying to state that Irish people are not related to Iranians? or what is it?

  • noooooo,

the romans where best to compare with a copie machien !!!

they copied all the good things from other cultures and that's what made them so strong!!!

  • the origin of the Celtic group with R1b-ht15 and mutation SRY2627 is in Gascony, a part of these people immigrates in French Brittany and other one in Basque country, then these people become marine and they will repopulate britaniques islands and later in 7/800 basques shall attain North America and will mingle a bit with cheyennes according to the results of genetic analyses. (30 % of R1b-ht15 for the nation cheyenne) as well as phénotype very europoïdes.

  • Celts "who had their homes near the Alps streamed through the passes in great strength and seized the territory that lay between the Appennine mountains and the Alps inhabited by Celtic-speakers who founded cities such as Milan.

The Celts held domination in mainland Europe

Eastward expansion Gallic invasion of the Balkans

The Celts also expanded down the Danube river

    Aristote.

  • they're only illustrative... there's not much artwork around, be fair

  • Mae fideo yn bendigedig, da iawn! A moving video truly great, thanks! Proud Welsh Celt here living in the last stronghold of the Celts in Britain Cymru (Wales) Diolch yn fawr!

  • Great video.

  • thanks

  • There were many Celtic tribes in Ireland before the Celtic Gaels arrived.Like Belgae,Dumnonii,Picts, and others.Ireland has for the most part always been Celtic. And they at first tolerated St.Patrick.Now thier spirit is still stronger than ever!

  • The Belgae lived in Northern Gaul, although maybe some fled to Britain. And the Picts are now believed to have came from Greater Scythia, which was proved using DNA. This is were the red hair gene comes from.

  • My people, Still standing strong!

  • Comment removed

  • germans tribes , slavs tribes and celts tribes- all Indo european people .

All heave height 180 -190 sm. in wieght , white heir and blue eyes .... Slavs too......

  • We Dutch are announced to be part of the german tribes. but no...because in 800 B.C.

The Dutch were Celtic people...infact...Celtic life started in The Netherlands. This includes Belgium, plus a small part of france and germany. So infact we Dutch are Celtic people...but we speak a german form of language after the Celts were driven away(too bad). But im sure some Celts stayed in The Netherlands...after all, you dont want to abbandon your home.

  • No way friend

Dutch descends from the Germanic tribes of Batavi, Canninefates, Frisons, and those Germanic tribes who came after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, already since 406 AD -the FRANKS, most of all.

Dutch language belongs to the "Frankish" branch of Germanic languages.

Of course there were Celtic people -better, "Belgic", that were, mostly, of Germanic stock- in the area of Flanders:

    Morini, Menapi etc.

But Batavi, Frisons and Franks are your ancestors.

  • Dude, im talking about 800- B.C

    not from the roman age.

    and yes...these days we're a German tribe.

  • Strong Batavuus!

    ;)

  • 180 -190?

Are you talking of people of today or of 2000 years ago?

The "average" height of the Europeans, you can find it on Wikipedia or from official documents from the Web

German males, for example, are about 181 cm of average; the tallest in Europe are the Dutch (184) and the people of the ex-Yugoslavia (185, although I have some doubt that it's true).

In those times -Roman Empire- 172 cm was considered "tall", for an average of 160 cm for males.

  • i'm from ex-Yugoslavia and i'm 192 cm....so!

  • Romans reported the Germanic And Celtic warriors to the Largest and most savage men alive, look it up under Roman conquest of Western europe. Roman soldiers where about 5 feet to 5'3 in average the roman general General Quentin Stated that the Celts where twice the size and height of his men.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • You wish!!

Scandinavians, Schweiz, Austria,... belongs to German tribes NOT NEVER Kelts / Celts or anything else! No clue about history...and stop spreading junk! :_(

  • stop spamming my page you faggot

  • What is the name of this song & the artist? I know I've heard it beofre; the movie Rob Roy, maybe? VERY good vid, btw. I love the Celts.

  • The Last Mohican

  • The music was adapted from a tune called The Gael written by a great guy called Dougie MacLean.

  • It's Keltoi, not Celts. Read Roman sources.

I will have to do a video about this, it's getting VERY frustrating seeing people talk about the "Celts" as if they were a people...they were a culture.

  • Luv, the Romans & Phoenicians are the ones who termed the Islanders as Keltoi. SOrry but its true. Read History of the Celts. You'll see.

  • VIVE LE GAULOISES!

    VIVA I CELTI!

  • Gloire des Celtes!

  • wat r gauls??

  • celts from ancient gaul (todays france)

  • Gaul was a land inhabitied by the Celts. It was made up of modern day France, Portugal( then known as Iberia), Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, Austria, all the way east to the balck sea, north into Sweden& Gremany, to the Rhine river at least & east all the way to Potugal, like I said. Amazing.

  • 0:52 = Germanen?!

  • no i think theyre gauls

  • The Greatess people ever to live! we live on!

  • Barbaric Celts! Had to be civilized by Romans/Latins......

  • they were civilized enough as it was, romans were just looking out for their own intrests....look how that turned out!

  • It turned out pretty good,as it was......Why do you think Celtic culture/civilization is better?

  • i didint say it was better, i meant that the romans classified them as "barbarian" because their way of life was different from theirs. Which is why they saw fit to covet their lands. And in my being Scotts/Irish i thought i would like to make a slideshow about celts. Thats probably why i like them better. Ill admit romans did some neat stuff Aqueducts Seige warfare industry math science ect. Just because I make a video about celts dosent mean im making ammunition for a flame war or somthing.

  • I didn't mean it as an insult though it's comes across that way.The word barbarian means non-Greek."Civilized" is also a subjective term.

  • and the romans were alot like the greeks so they probably used the term barbarian or somthing like it to classify their neihbors

  • they did. the also used the term barbarian as justification to go into neighboring lands & kill & enslave & subjugate an entire ppls. Not just the Celts but mainly them. It's vile & disgusting what the Romans did. It makes my heart weep over the atrocities the Romans wrought on every culture they sought to wipe out & control for their own benefit. But the Romans reaped what they had sown. The Clets sacked Rome TWICE.

  • Awesome, awesome video.. As Europeans we can all be proud of the ancient Celts, Germans, Romans, Greeks; we all share a common heritage as Aryans and respect our ancestors. I'm British, half English half Irish (Celtic and Germanic) but I can admire the Romans, the Thracians or ANY of our peoples as I know we share ancestry.

  • The Celts.. a people who got deafeted by the Romans and later Counquered by Germanic people..

WTF?? Is there any weakier people in Europe?

  • Ummmm...the french?

  • but you must remember is how many people the romans defeated, Greece, Judea, The carthaginians, Spanish, Gauls AND GERMANS to a point, if you look in the histories the celts were defeated in england but romans never made it into scotland, as was with germany and scandinavia, there were points where the barbarians were just too strong and thats why much of the culture was perserved in scotland and ireland

  • The germanic people were never deafeted, What about the great Ambush in the dark forrest of Germany? Were the Germanic people deafeted a Roman Army.

It was also Swedes and Danes there. We have some findings in Denmark and Sweden. Old ROman helmets and Swords which scientists and Historians belivue comes from battles against Romans. We also Counquered Rome later ^^

    Goths which camed from Sweden.

  • I hate to say it but the germans did lose battles to rome, its ignorant to say they didint, yes they pwned the romans on numerous occasions and when romes decay was complete they took the "eternal city" but they had lost land to rome, and the teutoburg forest was the dividing point, same goes for the Kelts who despite being defeated by rome never whent any farther than scotland or ireland, although they tried to push past they couldent.

  • The Romans never counquered whole Germania. They couldnt. The Germanic people were excellent Fighters and had earlier types of "Berserkers".

Later the North Germanic tribes becomed Vikings ^^ Scandinavians. If u look at it this way, It was the Germanic people who forged Europe. With our Counquests e.t.c.

  • Thats exactly what i meant, they could be beaten, but never fully taken over, and you are right as many of the great leaders of Europe would have german blood rather than italian, and thank god it wasnt that of moorish or arab conquerors. BTW im german too so i take pride in that fact as well!

  • Well, actually it was mostly Scandinavians who forged Europe. Our explorations during the Viking time and Counquering. The Normands who later invaded Anglo-Saxon England was of Viking heritage, The creation of Russia was of Swedish Heritage during the Viking age.

And the fall of Roman empire were thanx to Goths ^^ Who camed from the Swedish island of Gotland, but later got mixed up with slavs when they went south. They later settled down in spain after our conquest of Rome.

    e.t.c e.t.c.

  • By the way I took note about not having enough germanics, so in my next video (armies of the ancient world Part 1), i have a large part of it dedicated to them!

  • yes great ^^ Our ancestors were really badass compared to our Cousins around Europe at that time ^^

  • or around the world for that matter!

  • thats also why i tried giving them the longest part in the new video

  • Well.. the goths entered the roman empire from the Balkans as refugees at the end of fourth century under the eastern push of black Huns. The Huns were defeated in the battle of Catalaunian fields by an alliance between Romans, Goths, Burgundians and Franks.

The Roman Army especially at the end of roman age were made up the most of Auxiliae that were inhabitants(that became citizens after 16 yrs as soldiers) of the empire...so Romans,Franks,Goths,Celts e.t.c.e.t.c

  • As far as I know "viking" in old scandinavian language mean pillager so they wasn't an ethnic group...but I could be wrong

  • actually i thought i heard that viking meant kings of the sea, but that might just be a popular belief so im not to sure

  • "Viking" Is actually an activity "To go 'a Viking" (to go raiding) - but the Vikings themselves were of the different Germanic Scandinavian tribes - Germans basically.. The Vikings were a great people - adventurers, traders, fierce warriors - they discovered America and settled (in varying numbers); Canada to Greenland, Iceland, the British Isles, France, Scandinavia to the Baltic & Russia into the East, Byzantium, here they were the bodyguard of the Christian Roman/Greek Emporers for centuries.

  • True, but the Celts were there first - they were the first tribes of 'berserker' style fighters (Barbarians) & lived not only in villages but oppida too (towns & small cities), along with various Hill Forts & other fortifications.. They were the first Aryan tribes to rule Europe (the Old European Whites were there originally though), next came the Romans who subdued the Celts and Romanised many, then came the Gemanic tribes who gave us modern Europe. Ceaser saw the Germans as a 'Celtic' tribe.

  • the kelts are the best!

  • you are correct sir!

  • This is very good work! The music is takes me back...Well wishes to you!

    Brandi Lynn Borgia

  • Thanks did you ever see last of the mohicans?
