Almost half of Roman forces were auxiliaries, and they were Gauls, Germans, Numidians, Greeks, Armenians, and so on... Romans didn't conquer all their lands by themselves. And auxiliaries sometimes turned against Romans using their own weapons and knowing their tactic, as happend for example at Teutoburg Forest (9 A.D). In the end it were barbaric armies that served under Romans, that brought doom upon them. It is difficult situation to fight your own army :)

@THUNDERandSTEEL Which is widely known. But what's your point? :D The soldier on that particular picture is a Roman legionary. You don't know what ethnicity is he, or do you? People of various ethnicities served in Roman arms, and although the Celts were among them, you can't tell this soldier belongs to Celtic culture, to which the tribute is given by this video, as far as I'm aware. @THUNDERandSTEEL As far as I can tell, the shield on his back is not rectangular. :D Furthermore, it's one of typical roman shields, and even tough curved rectangular shield was mostly in use amongst Roman legionaries, flat round shield (the one on his back) was also in use. Considering the chainmail armor, you should know Romans had lorica hamata (google it) - the chainmail shirt as standard equipment for legionaries, as well as for auxiliaries.

Of course i know about Dal Riada. It brought together the land that they called "alba" which the english eventually conquered politically and culturally and named it "scotland" after the scottish, who were an irish tribe that settled on the west coast and west isles. "Gaelic" is most likely a mixture of Greek or Roman to it because of the "ae" in Gaelic or Gael.
You do know that wars are about killing each other, not sleeping with each other...right? Gauls were around long before Romans. And Greeks arrived from Slavic culture. Notice how close the letters of Greek resemble that of Russian letters. Plus, Scandinavian cultures also use 'ae' They have stayed on that continent for millions of years. And have not associated with the Slavs. That means they don't have any resemblance to Greek or Romans or Slavs besides the 'ae'.
for the wars: if a tribe during ancient times, fought another tribe/empire etc. for 100s or even 1000s of years they would obviously share eachothers culture, in that 100-1000 year the enemy is more popular to the other side, it would be all about each tribes enemy, hence people travel there etc. and after the war the tribe, which usually becomes a part of the victor's tribe would mix with eachother less than a second (Alexander, almost all empires, tribes: Greco-Persian wars, etc.)

Of course i know about Dal Riada. It brought together the land that they called "alba" which the english eventually conquered politically and culturally and named it "scotland" after the scottish, who were an irish tribe that settled on the west coast and west isles. It is accepted name by everyone. Almost the whole of scotland spoke it's own language (scottish gaelic) until the english banned it after the '43. The real scottish were irish colonists themselves. Scottishness is a debatable thing.

I also have doubts about the Yugoslavian figures! they opened an old graveyard of 1500 years or more in the Basque country (Adeleïta), and they are surprised because basques ancient resemble basques actual but bigger and also of warlike less dolichocephalic francs than basques and therefore less big and were of the group indigenous I1b Europe and basques them were indo-european put together R1b-ht15 as Celtic Gaelic.

the Gaels and Picts were originally descendents of Saka (or Scythian in greek) who spoke E.Iranian, and the tribe Gallic or Gaelic reciecved its name from Gillak which is the province of Gillan in N.W or N.E of Iran. "Gaelic" is most likely a mixture of Greek or Roman to it because of the "ae" in Gaelic or Gael.

You do know that wars are about killing each other, not sleeping with each other...right? Gauls were around long before Romans. And Greeks arrived from Slavic culture. Notice how close the letters of Greek resemble that of Russian letters. Plus, Scandinavian cultures also use 'ae' They have stayed on that continent for millions of years. And have not associated with the Slavs. That means they don't have any resemblance to Greek or Romans or Slavs besides the 'ae'.

for the wars: if a tribe during ancient times, fought another tribe/empire etc. for 100s or even 1000s of years they would obviously share eachothers culture, in that 100-1000 year the enemy is more popular to the other side, it would be all about each tribes enemy, hence people travel there etc. and after the war the tribe, which usually becomes a part of the victor's tribe would mix with eachother less than a second (Alexander, almost all empires, tribes: Greco-Persian wars, etc.)

i have no 100% evidence of this, but the Scandanavians using "ae" is a good evidence that the Greeks passed on it to the Celts. Germans who are descendents of the Scandanavians, mixed with Greeks passing it on to the Scandanavians.

Gaul was a land inhabitied by the Celts. It was made up of modern day France, Portugal( then known as Iberia), Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, Austria, all the way east to the balck sea, north into Sweden& Gremany, to the Rhine river at least & east all the way to Potugal, like I said. i didint say it was better, i meant that the romans classified them as "barbarian" because their way of life was different from theirs. Which is why they saw fit to covet their lands. And in my being Scotts/Irish i thought i would like to make a slideshow about celts. Thats probably why i like them better. but you must remember is how many people the romans defeated, Greece, Judea, The carthaginians, Spanish, Gauls AND GERMANS to a point, if you look in the histories the celts were defeated in england but romans never made it into scotland, as was with germany and scandinavia, there were points where the barbarians were just too strong and thats why much of the culture was perserved in scotland and ireland

I hate to say it but the germans did lose battles to rome, its ignorant to say they didint, yes they pwned the romans on numerous occasions and when romes decay was complete they took the "eternal city" but they had lost land to rome, and the teutoburg forest was the dividing point, same goes for the Kelts who despite being defeated by rome never whent any farther than scotland or ireland, although they tried to push past they couldent.

The Romans never counquered whole Germania. They couldnt. The Germanic people were excellent Fighters and had earlier types of "Berserkers".
Later the North Germanic tribes becomed Vikings ^^ Scandinavians. If u look at it this way, It was the Germanic people who forged Europe. With our Counquests e.t.c.

Well, actually it was mostly Scandinavians who forged Europe. Our explorations during the Viking time and Counquering. The Normands who later invaded Anglo-Saxon England was of Viking heritage, The creation of Russia was of Swedish Heritage during the Viking age.
And the fall of Roman empire were thanx to Goths ^^ Who camed from the Swedish island of Gotland, but later got mixed up with slavs when they went south. They later settled down in spain after our conquest of Rome.

"Viking" Is actually an activity "To go 'a Viking" (to go raiding) - but the Vikings themselves were of the different Germanic Scandinavian tribes - Germans basically.. The Vikings were a great people - adventurers, traders, fierce warriors - they discovered America and settled (in varying numbers); Canada to Greenland, Iceland, the British Isles, France, Scandinavia to the Baltic & Russia into the East, Byzantium, here they were the bodyguard of the Christian Roman/Greek Emporers for centuries.

True, but the Celts were there first - they were the first tribes of 'berserker' style fighters (Barbarians) & lived not only in villages but oppida too (towns & small cities), along with various Hill Forts & other fortifications.. They were the first Aryan tribes to rule Europe (the Old European Whites were there originally though), next came the Romans who subdued the Celts and Romanised many, then came the Gemanic tribes who gave us modern Europe. Ceaser saw the Germans as a 'Celtic' tribe.
