This song is heart wrenching but I love her sad songs. Dolly is such a brilliant singer and songwriter. I wish country music today was more like this, it would be so much better!

Most of Dolly's recording's were also written by her. In most you can feel the deprivation or pain she must have lived through as a youth. Tear jerking songs are usually from the heart and Dolly is a master story teller whether she lived the song in past times or used the song to relate to stories she heard. This type of story telling could not work without the vocal skills she possesses and of course being able to accompany the story with a lone flat top. It's just wonderful Dolly.
