The board shape has nothing to do with the age of it. Racing boards are shaped like that because ur not gonna change which side is facing downhill.

@Arrivald The PSIA snowboard team was founded in 1989, and by 1997 had split off to form it's own organization, the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). This video has to have been from that era, but yes, the board shapes and binding types (3 straps!!) and clothing all would point to early 90's.

@CouchPotatoe97 I do windsurfing and I had former female Dutch champion snowboarding asking me if I did skateboarding or so because my balance was so good. So yes it will help you.

@CouchPotatoe97 Some of the skills do transfer over, like stance (regular v. goofy) and balance. However, the addition of the bindings and steering with your feet (not the upper body) mean that you can actually have some bad habits if you snowboard like you skateboard!

@CouchPotatoe97 it helps alot in my opinion i have been skating for the past 4-5 years and i also skiied but i decieded to make a switch to snowboarding my first time out i had a private lesson and i was doing great sense i have skated for awhile and i also had a feel for the snow because of skiing after the first day i was hitting jumps and after about a week i was riding the rails and everything so if uve skated be4 it will help alot and if u have ever skiied before that with also help ALOT

@longboarderscooter Dude snowboarding wasn't even invented in the 80's! I didn't start seeing snowboards on ski slopes until the 90's. But this video is definitly from the 90's as evidenced by the guy wearing the 8 ball tank top on the slope and the brief part with her wearing the "alien" sunglasses so popular in the 90's.

@MrDanielTynan yes, it was. It was invented back in the 60s. It wasn't until the 90s when it was allowed at Ski resorts. In the late 70s and early 80s it was only allowed at 7 resorts.
