@guitarman2134568 You have to pay for everything. Monthly. I can rather buy thing to my hobby. If this did cost 30pounds in local store (disc game) I would buy it. Since ''iRacing'' wanna earn extremly much money the take monthly pay. I rather start up my PS# and play GT5, Shift 2 or Driver SF etc. :-)
@marcus974ever Yes...but iRacing is the most realistic driving simulator known to the world. If you like GT5 and stuff...then it may look good and have nice graphics, but it is nowhere near real.
This sim is for the serious enthusiast, and there is nothing you can hate but the price. The tracks are amazing, the cars are modeled very well, and the new tire model has only improved a great sim.
They have great promotions that keep the costs low (participation bonus, rebates for bulk buying) All great ways to keep the cost down.
why is everybody whining about the 15 dollar price tag on the tracks? They are the most realistic tracks made virtually, every track is laser scanned thus every bump on the track is captured.
@dacarfreak2000 rfactor is a bit more than a smaller price tag, if u no where to look its free lol, whereas iracing cost hundreds of pounds however u look at it!
@dacarfreak2000 only one track is laser scanned in rfactor which is Eastern Creek Laser. Most of the tracks on RFactor are user made by bobs track builder or ported over from other games.
It certainly looks good, though I doubt any computer I own could play it, though, even if I wasn't a physical media-wanting luddite, I think I'd balk at paying $10-15 per track.
I really want to get into iRacing, but the problem is I don't have the money to spend $10 on a track and I don't have the money to spend $5-$10 on a car. I think I'll stick with console racers for now. It would be so cool if they came out with iRacing for like PS3 or something because there's no way my computer could ever run this.
@3628800258 with all due respect, your reply makes no sense sir. Why something a "Fail" when you have no idea what you are talking about? Trolling? yes, I think so.

iRacing is hardcore. Por hommes. If you think Gran Turismo and Forza is realistic, iRacing makes both of those feel like Pole Position on the Atari 2600 in comparison. Way too intimidating for any casual player.
@toupe454 While your logic is right, I don't think you can compare Need for Speed with iRacing because NFS is an arcade racer whereas iRacing is a simulation.
@TheRooster94 lol i have a feeling the guys hooked him up...tho i think he needs to check out live for speed cuz imo its much better and its only in alpha
@ThatLonelyLoner oh by the way they use the professional version of rfactor, OBVIOUSLY modding it. you said yourself it's not a whole lot realistic on its own.
@wrongfire But they're not truly, truly, truly outrageous.
In all seriousness, given the work they put into laser scanning and modeling each track, as well as the fact that really hardcore sim racing is a niche market, I can see why iRacing costs more than other racing games. I expect dedicated racers will focus on mastering only a fraction of what's available. I consider GT and Forza excellent "survey courses" in racing.
Rfactor is based on the same engine as iracing has and there are both great sims. LFS compered to that is another world of tire physics It is much closer to real life physics but major downside of this that It has no real life cars and tracks and graphics as iracing. And thats why I think is getting no attention as game/sim
@gunProF01 Really? I've heard stories of people drifting in LFS with their keyboards. If there was ever a contender to iRacing it would be Rfactor.
LFS has had huge amounts of attention in the sim community. A lack of publicity is not the problem. It is simply that Rfactor is better, with a healthier modding scene. And even with Rfactors fantastic core mechanics, iRacing has the edge. It may not be by much, but the premium you are paying for is there.
@Infendo Jap Its true about drifting with keyboards including me.
But thats because of superior steering options in the menu. Iv never seen in other game that has even similar options for controls . If very good at drifting with keyboard in LFS you may reach (maybe) medium performance after year of intense practice. About racing you need wheel or at least a mouse of you want to compete. With keyboard again you will reach medium racing level if you train really hard and for each races -
@Infendo - for each races you have to find right keyboard settings which is nightmare and plus that car setup. So keyboard player is not the best thing in It.But Its possible to be good with keyboard. If you train really hard you can be best at any game with any kind of controls.I really love these sims there are all great in there own way. But I chose LFS (and thats just my opinion) cause I compete in real life slalom and to me lfs delivers similar car handling.Try LFS if dont already.Peace mate.
@GTRWil428 iRacing is meant to be used as a training tool for race car drivers, as well as for serious sim racers. This is serious shit, not like GT5 or Forza.
@Chrisuu - Well honestly, with the price of this track and car i'm assuming if you wanted to get deeper into the game you'd be better off buying a cheap car and learning to race it. The dynamics of the game, as good as they may be, are nothing when compared to REAL racing. Handling characteristics are totally different in real life. So I can't see the value, for real racing drivers, beyond track memorization.
Real racing is insanely expensive. Even the cheapest forms of racing will set you back 10grand per season + a lot of time and effort.
The only cheap way to get on a track is on a kart track where u can rent a kart for a few laps. Everything else will cost you more money in a day than iRacing does in 2-3years.
@Molo9000 - I don't know where you're getting your info from, but track days are not THAT expensive. Maybe 2 or 300 bucks. You can bring your own car. If you can't afford that you can do auto cross, which is even cheaper. But again, I cannot justify the price of this game. It's stupid expensive. But if you think it's a great value, you're free to think so and buy into it. I think there are other, more affordable games out there (forza et al).
I believe a lot of people are missing the fact that this game is for hardcore Racing Simulator fans, I'm talking rFactor, GTR 2, things like that, it's still a steep price but people who are into this, and not Console racers (Which aren't Sims in any way, shape or form) don't mind paying the steep price.
I always know "the real driving simulator" was kind of fake, but it´s more fun than rFactor or iRacing. I don´t have patience to download the full crap and pray my PC can hold the game well.
this is way too expensive, but with good steering wheel, trackIR and old car seat i was in heaven. but i only bought it for 3 months, but they were worth it.
lol my dad said i should try this game and improve my steering for oval track stock car racing. Not sure if he was serious or just joking.... is the game that realistic?
This is well worth the money. Check out sites like GTPlanet who constantly keep the iRacing promo codes up to date. You could lock in these days around 70$ for a year + Williams F1, Zandvoort, and Silverstone. Or there are other promos for NASCAR and IndyCar depending on your liking.
So you have to pay a monthly fee to play a game where you have a couple cars and tracks, then you have to pay for overpriced cars and tracks knowing that you will never have the complete game? Still better then CoD tho...
Pfft, why should I pay for Suzuka when I have it in my Playstation 1 game of NASCAR '98? Not only does it have THE Kyle Petty, but if you enter a code, your car can SHOOT PAINTBALLS that cause instant wrecks and 30 car pileups.
@XeloX2 These tracks are 30x more real than GT or Forza.. Yea they have real tire physics and car physics unlike GT or Forza.. Takes time to make things like this.
iRacing is worth it. BTW arms and hands will be in the sim by next week

This makes every other racing simulator look like a joke.

Pfft, why should I pay for Suzuka when I have it in my Playstation 1 game of NASCAR '98? Not only does it have THE Kyle Petty, but if you enter a code, your car can SHOOT PAINTBALLS that cause instant wrecks and 30 car pileups.

@XeloX2 so I didn't hear wrong..lol
asfarfafar 7 months ago
@XeloX2 i can guarantee it takes alot more effort to laser scan a race track and build it (virtually) than to make a Call of Duty map pack.
zDToddy 7 months ago
@XeloX2 These tracks are 30x more real than GT or Forza.. Yea they have real tire physics and car physics unlike GT or Forza.. Takes time to make things like this.
larlar752000 7 months ago
@XeloX2 Well really LFS has real tire physics but still..

despite being a pc game, it looks like GT4 and seems to be a money pit. (the whole "$15 just to play one track" thing is crazy)
