they were in a game, there has been two games based on this, one for the pc that was a strategy game and one for the PS1 but iam not sure what kind of game play that was, but however the one for the pc had these flying machines, and the game was pretty good, defently worth looking on e bay for

The Tom Crusie/Paramount Pictures film was an insult to H.G.Wells. Jeff Wayne's is the closest to Well's book. However, I seriously doubt we will see a film verison from Jeff Wayne. Jeff owns rights over a musical based on the book, not a film, which is owned by Paramount. All the CGI footage of late is for the concerts Jeff is staging.

I DO agree with the comments about the 'time' the new movie was set... and its a pity it is only shown from the eyes of the 3main characters (ie..we dont get to see much fighting) BUT...fairplay...it IS good tho...cmon...WHAT POWER ON THE HEAT-RAY huh? -and they got the red-weed.... its not so different really?!?

Well, hollywood is genious. Just shoot the film in any old nabourhoods, make ONE crash site for an Airplane, make a bunch of CGI models and throw in Tom Cruise so people will see it and you got yourself something that is inexensive that will make you a lot of money.
