ladies and gents! please don't comment unless you have a clue!
muay thai kicks are horizontal to the ground, aim to hit with the shin, and go round on the rotational power of the hips. THIS IS NOT ONE. this is kyokushin, see the DOWNWARD angle of the kick, the straightening of the instep (hitting point), and the fact that the straightening of the leg from chamber is what makes the power. it's faster but less powerful. this is kyokushin!!
@ubersum1 kyokushin can hit both with instep and shin. From what I have heard/seen, kyokushin kicks and muay thai kicks are basically the same except for the differences you see in tournaments due to kyokushin not allowing face punches.
@MikaelUmaN it's because the stance is different that, although the kick may hit with similar parts of the leg, it ends up looking very different. even in a taller muay thai style stance, the kicks are far more "whippy" than in muay thai. i personally prefer kyokushin kicks, it's the best of both worlds (quick and powerful)
@ubersum1 its the same in thai the kick is meant to come down at a 45 bdegree angle, aimed at the neck, thigh, slightly different when kicking midsection, this is originally a thai kick adopted by kyokushin dont forget Oyama trained with the thais! also in taekwon do he was a korean!!!
It doesn't matter from which style this technique is from, a circular kick is a circular kick, a thai could use japanese kicks and likewise. if you fight for the origins of a technique it shows you're not MAists as each tech has been developed by the influence of many fighters and it doesn't matter which those artists were from, a martial artist is a martial artist anywhere and you will never find pros who use exactly the same tech. each fighter has his own tech which differs from others. Osu
@Keyvanizator If you were a carpenter you would hit this nail right in. Sorry for the corny joke I just wanted you to know I share the same view. Too many people are quick label something under their perfered art, but just dont seem to understand that every art has something to offer and techniques to learn. For instance I did shotokan before kyokushin and now I have the most impressive kicks out of the lot. Now I leave with a famous bruce lee qoute "A punch is punch, and a kick is a kick."
i like how this shows how hard it is to master just one technique and how many little things your brain goes through when doin somethin like a roundhouse. martial arts is too good
Dude that is definiitely kyokushin technique. You obviously no nothing about Kyokushin. Perhaps if he wore a chef's hat you would say he is cooking. Lucky he wasn't wearing pilot's gogles or you would think hes flying a plane.... -_-
Dude Kyokushin was created in the 60's It is still evolving and changing if a kick works then it is not one style or another its an effective kick. I train in kyokushin karate and I workout in muay thai shorts there are not Kyokushin shorts
yea i think hes telling him to reel back the arm of the same leg towards the back. but thats basic form of most round kicks so Im not sure hwat youre lookin for

What does it matter whether you do Muay Thai or Karate? How different can a kick be in the end?

Do you guys have a Dojo in Tokyo? Is there a website or an Address or both? I would love to stop by and visit next time I'm in Japan.

Hmm...what's the point of him being a Kyokushin champ if he's doing Thai roundhouse...wearing Thai shorts?
utb008 1 year ago
@utb008 That's that he is kyokushin, not thai fighter. And many thai fighters would powned by him. So that's the point.
Thefighterspider 1 year ago
@utb008 that's not a thai roundhouse! ya fuckin gimp!!! how can you call yourself a martial arts fan if you can't distinguish?!

what part of the leg makes contact with this technique
flykicks200 2 years ago
Shin. When fighting full contact you always want your shin to make contact not the foot, as you can injure the foot and/or ankle.
Shitoryumaster 2 years ago
awesome, it looks like if a kick like that were to hit on some one it would do some heavy damage.

Re.The arm swing.
From what I understand the guy is trying to tell us not to chop straight back with the hand but make the shape of the letter 'c' in the air.
Hopefully??
