Most ancient greek knowledge is homegrown but the ancient minoans who in turned were influential to the mycenean greeks only began their civilisation after contact with the egyptians. Also the greek mathematician Pythagoras travelled to egypt to learn maths from the egyptian priests.

Sure thing Nixter, the book is Herodotus histories, theres a part that mentions about the tyrant Thales who recognised Pythagoras skill and sent him to Egypt. I'm not saying the egyptians taught him maths, he already new it but they taught him other maths techniques.

It was made propably by Ipparhos ih Rhodes Island of Greece. It was made about 100 B.C. there was a massive production of these navigation machanisms. If you wish i could provide you more recent info.
