Ok...Orcas have killed people. They are wild animals and no matter how long they are in captivity or how much you think you have tamed them they are still wild. They still have instincts and when there is something smaller than them swimming in the water and thrashing around there is always the chance they may attack. The trainers at sea world are told this.

this film was made in 1977 and it's "special effects" really suck..there are a lot of scenes where you can see that it's a machine and not a real orca. however, this film makes people believe that orca attaks humans for revenge..and that's NOT the truth. animals are better than we are and they don't follow people to kill them for revenge. one more detail is the fact that in the scenes where you can see real orca,they are made in some seaworld: you can see that by watching the orcas' dorsal fin..

They used a combination of real orcas and animatronical machines for this movie, just like Free Willy. If theres a scene where it would put an actual orca at risk(like firing a speargun) they, by law, could not use a real animal. Most of it is a machine, but at 0:59 you can tell its a real orca.

that is absolutly terrible. i love orcas and i am planning on opening a marine mammal wildlife sanctuary to help rehabilitate injuried marine mammals and have them set free once they are better.

It's a movie. It's about a man who kills the female as you see, the male goes crazy for revenge, killing multiple people throughout the movie, and in the end gets his revenge by facing off with the man in the ice caps and killing him. But yeah the beginning is very sad. The hardest part for me to watch is her killing herself, and when he pushes her all the way to shore as the other orcas follow. :(
2 Questions. 1.) Why did she kill herself when she was only hit with the harpoon/dart thing. Which was small compared to her size. and 2.) When she aborted the baby....was that her doing that or just something the body does.
well, if you know anything about trauma, you could see in the very begining of this movie that the whales aparently they lived unknowing that said events would happen.
and of corse adding to the trauma part if you dont expect it and then it just happens its traumatising, and in the unfortunate event event of being traumatised forced the poor animal into misscarry thats what this movie is preforming thus questions are entered in 1s head unfortunatly this movie was based on true events.

and orcas do get frustrated but its very rare and needs to be studied. i think that that kind of frustration comes from lots of pressure or something else. some orcas in captivity turned aggressive to their trainers. thats when all organisations started thinking about some kind of frustration. the orcas always ended being calm again thanks to the trainers but we really need to know if it is frustration that causes it. they really need to do some researh on it
it is true that orcas have attacked trainers, it is no different from them attacking fish. no anger, i believe it is just food, they are being underfed and finally give in to the hunger and bite the trainer (which they quickly realize isnt good food) and they release him, the same is true with sharks

sometimes you have no choice than to chase away or kill a predator. we always make sure that when we release a seal, a bird or a different animal, that there are no predators around but sadly some do come because of seeing a prey going in the water. i dont know if my colleagues had to kill a shark some time but we are sometimes able to chase them away by scaring them. sometimes you could use bait aswell but of course you need to have fish at the time

Attacks are rare for wild orca, and have not resulted in death, but captive orcas have attacked and killed people. We are just damn lucky that they don't decide to put us on their food list and for some odd reason, they like us.
@mdaddy71 you are the one who needs to get the facts straight. Tilikum has killed at least two people (not including the hobo that was found dead in his tank). He killed one in 1991. Then the recent death in Feb. The intruder found in the tank with him between these incidents was at least bitten by him. While it is believed he was playing with the trainers, the fact is he still killed them.I realize that the Feb incident happened after your post, the other didn't.

no, it is a fact that once baby sharks are born they are imediattly left alone, they have to rely completley on instinct. 2 sharks are born in each chamber of the mothers womb and one kils the other, then they are born and the mother simply continues on her day as if nothing had happened

In a way it showed animals do have feelings, but it went about it the wrong way. All of it was fake beside the use of Nepo and Yaka which were for jumps and head shots like at 0:58

@P1KPAK Irony. Statistics show, the vast majority of Orca-related accidents involve captive Orcas. Incidents involving wild Orcas are rare, and always accidental.

this film was made in 1977 and it's "special effects" really suck..there are a lot of scenes where you can see that it's a machine and not a real orca. however, this film makes people believe that orca attaks humans for revenge..and that's NOT the truth. animals are better than we are and they don't follow people to kill them for revenge. one more detail is the fact that in the scenes where you can see real orca,they are made in some seaworld: you can see that by watching the orcas' dorsal fin..

They used a combination of real orcas and animatronical machines for this movie, just like Free Willy. If theres a scene where it would put an actual orca at risk(like firing a speargun) they, by law, could not use a real animal. Most of it is a machine, but at 0:59 you can tell its a real orca.

It's a movie. It's about a man who kills the female as you see, the male goes crazy for revenge, killing multiple people throughout the movie, and in the end gets his revenge by facing off with the man in the ice caps and killing him. But yeah the beginning is very sad. The hardest part for me to watch is her killing herself, and when he pushes her all the way to shore as the other orcas follow. :(

well, if you know anything about trauma, you could see in the very begining of this movie that the whales aparently they lived unknowing that said events would happen.
and of corse adding to the trauma part if you dont expect it and then it just happens its traumatising, and in the unfortunate event event of being traumatised forced the poor animal into misscarry thats what this movie is preforming thus questions are entered in 1s head unfortunatly this movie was based on true events.

orcas do eat whales. they surround a mother with calf and end up killing the calf. they leave the grown up whales alone since they are only interested in their young when they come across a whale with calf. the whale cant fight a whole pod of orcas so they cant do anything to defend their calf. it has been recorded a few times and it really shows that orcas are the rulers of the sea. even a great white shark cant escape. whenever an orca sees a shark, the shark will become dinner

no they dont eat whales. and a full grown whale could kill the leader of the orca pod and thus scare them, and it could kill him very easily. you obviously have never seen one. and great white sharks have been known to be hunted by orca, but they also hunt orca themselves. orcas are most definentally not rules of the sea. a giant squid can kill a full grown sperm whale with incredibly ease. and even so we humans are more rulers of the seas than an orca is. we almost hunted them to extinction.

i have seen a great white shark tear a mother orca apart while her calf ran away. the great white blindsided her and she had no chance. and it is a proven fact that the great white has much stronger jaw power than the orca, making him a more succesful predator. the orca just has size and strenght. which sometimes are not enough

i have never heard or seen anything like that. i always saw orcas tear the shark apart and eating it. it werent always great white sharks. they also killed other species. when there are lots of sharks around then the orcas hunt on the sharks so that they have something to eat. it does happen that a mother sacrifices herself so that her calf can flee. if a shark manages to surprise the mother of course but then again a shark has to be carefull when taking on a grown up orca. orcas are strong

yes i said orcas are stronger than most sharks, but they are slower. that gives the shark the advantage it needs to put it down. and why is the shark ambushing the orca look down upon? it is how they hunt and it is extremley effective. and i do agree, the shark does have to be careful when going after an orca, that is why they only do it when they are low on food, but an orca has to be careful when going after a full grown male greatwhite shark, which can be almost as big as they themselves

i know how sharks hunt. its just crazy that they succeed on it cause orcas have a sensitive hearing. if the shark moves in slowly without making a sound, the ambush would be successfull. but one sound or one mistake and they got a problem and thats when the battle starts if the shark is hungry enough to go on with it. and they especially wont stop attacking if they smell blood. thats when you have to look out for the shark. when their eyes turn big and completely black then you got a problem

my colleagues from greenpeace have saved alot of animals. it has never been proven that orcas eat or kill humans. sure there have been attacks in captivity but that is because they are frustrated. when it becomes too much for an orca then no one knows what may happen. but orcas still are gentle giants who come out of curiousity to humans

we did save animals. you just werent there to see it. we also work together with other organisations sometimes but that depends on the mission. orcas do have emotions. they do feel pain and sadness. when humans took away their young ,the mothers charged the nets trying to reach their young. they ended up killing themselves or getting killed during the captures. they stayed on the place untill they didnt see their young anymore. they had to move on even after such an experience

and orcas do get frustrated but its very rare and needs to be studied. i think that that kind of frustration comes from lots of pressure or something else. some orcas in captivity turned aggressive to their trainers. thats when all organisations started thinking about some kind of frustration. the orcas always ended being calm again thanks to the trainers but we really need to know if it is frustration that causes it. they really need to do some researh on it

sometimes you have no choice than to chase away or kill a predator. we always make sure that when we release a seal, a bird or a different animal, that there are no predators around but sadly some do come because of seeing a prey going in the water. i dont know if my colleagues had to kill a shark some time but we are sometimes able to chase them away by scaring them. sometimes you could use bait aswell but of course you need to have fish at the time

Attacks are rare for wild orca, and have not resulted in death, but captive orcas have attacked and killed people. We are just damn lucky that they don't decide to put us on their food list and for some odd reason, they like us.

@mdaddy71 you are the one who needs to get the facts straight. Tilikum has killed at least two people (not including the hobo that was found dead in his tank). He killed one in 1991. Then the recent death in Feb. The intruder found in the tank with him between these incidents was at least bitten by him. While it is believed he was playing with the trainers, the fact is he still killed them.I realize that the Feb incident happened after your post, the other didn't.

no, it is a fact that once baby sharks are born they are imediattly left alone, they have to rely completley on instinct. 2 sharks are born in each chamber of the mothers womb and one kils the other, then they are born and the mother simply continues on her day as if nothing had happened

Thank you for making this and posting it. It's a great video, and you did a great job with the editing and music choice, especially the first piece with "Zombie" by The Cranberries. It's powerful, sad, and moving. I have only seen parts of this movie on AMC a couple of times but I would like to get the dvd and watch it soon. Five stars :)

No animal was harmed in the making of this movie. I don't know what you made this video. This movie was made a long time ago. In a way it showed animals do have feelings, but it went about it the wrong way. All of it was fake beside the use of Nepo and Yaka which were for jumps and head shots like at 0:58

PFT ok! I'm not stupid I know there is animal cruelty everyday. If you want to actually stop it make a video with the animals who actually get abused. Not with some stupid robot.
