The Xmas bombing forced the North Vietnamese to the peace table where they were made to sign the Paris Peace Accords, thus ending the war. The North refused to honor the Accords though and thus brought great shame upon itself. For 20 years after the war, Vietnam existed in poverty. Now the USA is helping out Vietnam.

If the Vietnamese had been smart, they would have refused all foreign aid (North and South) and told all foreigners to leave. But they wanted all that free foreign aid. North Vietnam fought without honor and North Vietnam will go down in history as butchers and war criminals. The US won the war, we left in 1972, but three years later the South Vietnamese lost.
The Commies worked on base--they'd steal alarm clocks from our BX and use them to trigger their rockets. We'd know when there was going to be a rocket attack when the gooks wouldn't go on base. Some GI's married women from Southeast Asia because the women over there respected men, unlike in the USA where women belittle men. Feminism is just Cultural Marxism so maybe the Commies won after all. Cam Ranh Bay would make a great tourist mecca, but the Commies are stupid.
Since 1965 American troops were poured into South Vietnam to help the South fight communists. As a result, it also caused huge social problems to the country.
In the US if you're a deadbeat father, you go to jail. The US must be the top deadbeat father in the world, leaving 50,000 half-blood children in Vietnam without any kind of support ever, while the government and military allowed things like this happen to Vietnamese women.
Does that mean the government and the military made it perfectly OK for American guys to buy foreign girls in a foreign country, they just weren't allowed to do so here to American women. Hypocrisy. I guess some people' dignity and safety is cheaper than the others'.

This kind of uncontrolled media access would be shut down completely in the future, during the two Bush administrations. You might recall Bush II forbidding even photos of arriving caskets of Iraq military dead. A report like this today would be absolutely unthinkable; censorship is far too stringent. So we never see things like this at home in the USA now.
It was like no other place for us G.I's. Anything illegal or immoral was right there in front of you. It was hard after a few months to ignore the temptations and say....what the hell. It was a crazy time and even crazier war.

I actually saw this clip some 40 years on CBS news...amazing that I still remember it. I also remember telling my Dad that Vietnamese girls are hot after watching it...he flatly disagreed with me...of course I was about 18 at that time (the same year I registered for the draft).
