  • to fast, no technique. Great kata but needs work

  • Adapting traditional empty-hand kata to the use of weapons is actually a fairly common practice in shuri-ryu karate, so I'm not surprised to see it done with a goju-ryu kata. I have to agree that the sai do seem too short, and that you are lacking kime, but your form looks good. Granted, I'm going off of my knowledge of shuri-ryu, and not goju-ryu. There's my two cents, anyway.

  • Already done. Take a look here...

  • Why not try SAIfa? Hahaha!

Serious: Your Sai seem to be very short...they should be about one inch longer than your arm from tip of the middle finger to ellbow. And I think the moves could be more precise with Kime (=focus or power). Generally I like your Idea (using Sai with Goju Katas), have you tried developing Bunkai???

    Oss!

  • There are some good things here. Precise angles. Good coordination of the hands... Still could work on hips... foot movements too slow and stiff, resulting in lack of power/balance. Goju is both soft & hard, i.e., it should be smooth and fast as one moves, but internally hard as the feet grip the floor and the body tenses briefly for impact. Striking power would improve with a stronger base (hips and stances). Core strengthening would help alot. Good job. Don't give up!

  • Cool...never done with SAI, but looks nice. Gtz
