Im all for creative ideas for writing music, but here, I don't get it. Splitting drawings up & having musicians do their own interpretation? What's the point, what's there to credit to the "composer"?

Wouldn't it be better for Cage to have made his interpretation & found a way to write it so it makes a cool piece of music? THAT would take some work. All he did here is take existing time structure, existing drawings, & gave to musicians so THEY figure out what to do with it. agree, disagree?

sounds like MTT doesn't have the courage to present Renga as it was intended: a 30-40 minute performance with or without 'apartment house'.

Cage's improvisational compositions, though respectable, are uncomfortably unorganized for my taste. Why must we sacrifice beauty (considering the term objectively) for artistic exploration?
