There are tuogh abs plastic boxes that can mount in the box of the truck, that would be good to hold your batteries, the only thing you would have to do is cut a vent hole and install a breather on it.
@TheLeftylegend14 There is now power steering because I took it out. This vehicle is now sold, the person I sold it to added a power steering pump, it has a belt to the secondary drive shaft of the motor.
Oh, I notice on your evalbum account that there's like 10 chargers to charge up the battery's, do you you still need that many or do you just use one now?
How much did the electric motor and the computer for it cost you? I'm thinking of building some thing like that too and would like to know a price range for (what at least I think) is the most expensive part. Also will it work on the other gears so it can be on the interstate?
Looks like you have plenty of room to double the batteries, and therefore double the range. You'd probably need a bit more power for the extra weight though.
If my 140 Ah batteries worked like lithium Ion, I'd get 60km before they died, however I actually have lead acid which sucks. So I'm getting much less than that.
Ideally I'd start with 10k since I invested nearly 8000$ CAD into it, plus over a hundred hours of labour. However I wouldn't expect to get that much, especially since I've been murdering my batteries (common for first timers). I'd be loosing money if I sold for 7000 for less, but if I moved away and couldn't bring this, then I would probably have to cut my losses.
Lol, did you just blow though 2 stop signs without, you know, stopping?
Road rules aside, well done on the conversion. It's impressive considering you don't have a proper workshop. How did you get a good alignment with the adaptor plate without the proper tools?
The adapter plate was made with some measurements based on the bolt pattern which happened to be on a perfect circular arc around the drive shaft. Knowing some math helped too.
As for the stop signs, I did stop (rolling stop) for all of them. Blowing through a stop sign would suggest I didn't use my brakes at all, which isn't the case. I consider myself a safe driver.
Very nice and simple. I always thought that a Dodge Rampage would make a good EV, as you could use the pickup bed to hold batteries, then simply use it as a two seat commuter car. I doubt Rampages were used to haul much anyway.
you totally blew thru that stop sign, joel....haha

is there no power steering because it's an older Ranger or because it's electric? sorry for the dumb question.

Free Energy is real and its here but the coverup is strong, if u are interested in a REAL free energy machine then
just go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and download the blueprints ,it is probably the ONLY working magnet
motor out there. Join the free energy revolution!!

Some people have the bed modified so it can be lifted and the batteries put underneath it.

12 batteries so heavy they would make a car unsafe?
JayJr2007 1 year ago
The EV truck is a good idea when it comes to safety.
Electric cars with batteries inside the driving compartment pose a risk to the driver in the event of a collision.
having the batteries external to the cab protects the driver/passenger from battery acids.

nope, just one charger, you can see this in the bottom photo on the evalbum page. I left the messy version on there for before/after comparison

Exceeding the GVWR would be a safety risk. Plus I've run out of money for more batteries.

Nice job on the truck, it's better than anything the automakers are offering in cost to benefit. Even at 8000, you have a bargain.

is that a ranger if it is did you have to lighten it at all because i thought of using a ranger

How fast dose it go?
MooseBaker 2 years ago
The fastest I've taken it on a flat road with little wind is about 100km/h. (this thing is as aerodynamic as a flying brick)
Of course it goes faster going down hill, but that isn't really a fair rating.
erroneus 2 years ago
That's not TOO bad. lol. If you were going to sell it what would you ask for?
