Hi very cool movie and I've done everything as it is to guide, but I do not know the password you enter jake i know you must have 13 characters so if I can give simple password greet me and I look forward to it because the password can not log into your windows server 2008
@pokerguy17 Tell me about it, thats why we have operating systems like Unix and Linux, and with a little know how you can do just as much. Nas box software also is pretty powerful nowadays.
Well I'm a Windows fan personally lol I'm essentially doing the same thing with Windows XP SP3. The funny thing is is that Windows Server 2008 is not any different really from any other NT based OS, it just has a few more features but for such a high price it really isn't worth it. When you say NAS box, are you referring to virtualization?
@pokerguy17 Network Attached Storage boxes often contain linux operating systems that are quite powerful for a home network. Server OS's is more geared for server processors bc of instruction sets (tells what the CPU to do when and where), and are way more locked down by default, with software and services required for running an environment for ...well server dependent systems and applications. For a home network , its really not necessary.
Yeah I agree. I have a server that's accessed by me in my home network and remotely across the WAN by other people. That's why I was considering Windows Server 2008 R2 as an OS, but as you said in your comment I think Windows XP SP3 will do just fine.
You can either erase that partition during setup (delete optoin) and create a new partition to install it on, OR keep that partition and create a new one side by side to install on (same hard drive). The rule of thumb is to always install the newest OS last so your boot loader (the menu to choose the OS at boot time) is correct.
what password did you put in because i had the same thing come up saying i needed to change my password and i typed my password in a it wouldnt let me login can you help me please
It is in the tools and structure of the OS, yes the "base" of it is very similar to its parent , Vista, but everything is tailored to be minimal and low cpu usage, and performance is tweaked to server applications and processes vs. media and high performance media. If you have a server processor it goes even further , taking advantage of very special instructions in that CPU and the OS.
guys it's gonna be ok. you don't want a windows 7 theme on your server. you aren't supposed to use it as a desktop os (unless you got it for free and used to use say... windows xp). if you really want a nice looking theme you can change it. it won't make it go any better if it looks nicer though. this is windows, not mac.
You should have made one when you setup the initial OS on install. If you are logged in you can , right click my computer > manage > local users and groups > users. Find your user and reset it from there.
i get to the bit that says "the user's password must be chaged before logging on the first time" then every time i try type in a dif password non work im kinda :S
1. Learn how to spell. 2. Read a book. Its that way to minimize visual overhead, but the OS kernel is different underneath, and OS structure. You don't "theme" a server OS. Why are you watching this if you are so naive?
They way a server OS is constructed is entirely different, supports far wider array's of processors and technologies. It's built to serve, not be served (win 7).
IF you are referring to when you make the password for the first time on install. The Password must contain, lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and must be at least 8 characters long I believe. If you lost your password, email me, too long to discuss here. See website in desc., my senior project for some help too.
Windows Server 2003 is based off the XP kernal, so XP Games will function fine, and 2008 is based off the Vista kernal so most things that will run on Vista will run on server 2008. Keep in mind many programs may detect Windows Server 2008 as the OS and yell at you, not allowing to continue.
i use virtual box install server 2008
