thanks a lot for the review the fact that u played the clash tunes one it makes me want it even more. I can never get good clash tones. How is the amp with distortion pedals?
These amps can be good for metal or anything you want to play it just really depends on your playing abilities and what you can do with what you have.... I really like this amp, I just picked up the red one the other night and it's very awesome.
i already know these are good amps and i know alot about em. i just havent owned one. would it be good for an eric johnson type sound? i can always run my pedals through it. i have an OCD pedal witch would do good i think. you think eric johnson tones are good on it?
@chrispouliot65 I don't really listen to Eric Johnson, so I'm not the best authority on his tone. However I think you'll like running the OCD pedal through this amp, it's pretty transparent so you'll hear the pedal. I would suggest playing one in a guitar center or something. Then you can decide for yourself.
@deathafi This amp isn't the best at metal, I would recommend checking Randall and Peavey amps if that's what you are looking for. Thanks for watching!
i just bought this game, not from this kid. the amp powers on but doesnt have any sound, no noise at all, when u strum the guitar it makes a quiet buzz, any guesses on what it might be?
Can you play 2 guitars through this amp? please comment really need to know before i buy if not can you recommend any good gigging amps that can play 2 guitar through one amp
@shotgunwagonbum You can but man it doesn't sound very good at all. Since the guitars' signal gets all mixed together. I would suggest you tell your band mate to get his own amp.
This is the non modeling version of the Frontman, so it doesn't have any onboard effects or amp modeling. I had the clean channel set to Treble 5, Mid 5.5, Bass 7.5. So if you do have the modeling version of the FM just switch it to the normal (clean) channel and copy my settings and if you've got a Telecaster, use it in either the middle or bridge selection.
@keaneterpol It's decent, I mean it works. I like only using the on board reverb for slight reverb the kind you really don't notice too much. I want to upgrade the tank personally I just haven't really found a need yet since I really don't play surf type of music. The problem with the stock reverb is it really doesn't sound like that Fender reverb we all have heard before, the FM's reverb is tinny and metallic not wet like the classic 65 Twin Reverb.
Finally... Someone that plays Ska reviewing a product! Would you suggest this as a suitable Ska-esq clean sound? It sounds good in the video, just curious about your real life experience.
@Iceman0723 Thanks dude! Yeah I guess ska isn't big on the guitar gear radar. The Frontman's clean sounds really good for ska, at least that's been my experiences playing ska covers with my friends, the FM's clean channel is really pretty loud so it can be heard over drums bass and horn section. Depending on which type (wave) of ska I want to play I adjust the EQ and reverb setting but all and all it's a good clean for ska and reggae music.
@joeyjeremiah1 Remember we're talking low budget, in comparison to other sorta cheap 100-watt amps, but if you believe what you are saying is true - mind presenting an alternative?
@imixers line six amps are extremely good amps and are almost the same price as the 212r or get guitar rig pro 4 and hook ur computer 2 ur amp and let the amp act as speakers cause the 212r is plenty loud enough
@imixers The Clean channel is pretty transparent, so it'll take multi fx pedals well. I use a Zoom G2 sometimes and it sounds fine. However when I gig out I either use the on board overdrive or a distortion pedal. If you are on a strict budget then go for it.
im looking for a guitarspeaker with like 50-100 watts. i want a box with a moddlere. it doesnt matter me if its build in the speaker or its a external one. i was thinkin for the fender FM 212R with a korg px4d, and a line6 spider jam and a Vox VT 100 can u maybe help choose something to buy?
@hurksel Okay so you want a 50-1oo watt modeling amp. Well I really like the Vox VT series for modeling. You could get the FM 212R and a modeling pedal but it's really up to you and what your budget will allow. If you have the money then go for the VT 100
@SkaJon iwas thinkin for like 400 to 500 €. is at the fender fm 212r a standard pedal deliverd for modeling. or is this box just a standard nice box without any other sounds. thanks for help btw :).
@hurksel Well the Frontman takes modeling pedals well, I use a Zoom G2 with my Frontman every now and then and it sounds great. If want built in modeling then go with the Vox VT 100, the Fender FM 212 DSP doesn't sound that good in my opinion. So go with what you can I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
I'm terribly sorry for asking, and I know it sounds weird (I've been playin guitar for like, 5 years now) but what is a modeling amp actually? :P I know it's stupid I don't know
@alkleiza1995 No worries dude. A Modeling amp is an amp that digitally emulates famous amp models, such the JCM 900 or the Fender Twin Reverb. The most common modeling amps are the Line 6 Spider, Vox Valvetronix, Roland Cube and the Fender GDEC. So modeling amps are good for people who like having a lot of sounds in one box, very useful in the practice zone. They can be more expensive than normal amps though. Dude PM me and we'll talk more about your specific amp needs.
@alkleiza1995 Well it depends your needs dude. Are you only going to play in your room, or low volume jams (No drummer)? If so get the Super Champ XD. If you need loud gig volumes and don't mind giving up modeling then go for the Frontman 212R. Honestly you need a good practice amp that could hang with a drummer you may want to look at the 40 watt Fender Mustang II or the VOX Valvetronix VT 50, 50 watt.
@RealMadridBlues I never professed to be any good at playing guitar. I love doing it but I'm no Eddie Van Halen or anything. It's a hobby dude, I try to learn as much as I can in my spare time. Thank you for the positive comments and the advice. Have a good one.
Thanks for doing the video. Love the tone and cant wait to get the Frontman 212. I have the same tele so hopefully can get close to what ur doing. Thanks again man.
@aaron93m Dude I personally don't like the Vyper series because it's pretty complicated to program, I like the Vox VT series more for modeling. It depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for a practice amp or a gigging/live amp? If you need a practice amp I would say get either a Vox VT 30 or a Fender Mustang II. Gigging on the cheap amp, the Frontman 212R, honestly I've seen plenty of punk bands use Frontman and Crate 2x12s live and they all sound good. Also delay pedals are cheap.
@aaron93m I understand the allure of lots of features but what I've found works best for live gigging is the simplest solution possible. My only issue with gigging with digital amp is the possibility of it forgetting your presets or restarting in the middle of the gig, I've seen it happen before. Personally I would a get simple two channel amp, add some effects pedals if you want them. To experiment with different sounds try using a Multi FX at practice to figure which effects you like.
@strabbs1 Yeah man, it's an actual spring. It's a small tank though, works pretty well but it doesn't give you that classic wet Fender spring reverb. You could buy an upgrade reverb tank if that's what you are looking for.
I've got this amp and play an Ibanez rg350 through it. It's loud enough to compete with a drummer, a Gibson through a Marshal half stack and a bass player who always plays Loud!!! ( my band) it give a good contrast with the other guitarist. Sweet amp!!!!!
@RURALMAN1 Man no kidding I just played a punk show with the Frontman. Drive 6 Volume 6, sounded great and easily got over the drummer, bassist with a 400 watt 4x10 and another guitarist with a 100 watt solid state Crate.
@MeanGreenMovies Well if you've got the money for a VT100, I'd say go for that dude. I have a Vox DA15 and it emulates the Fender clean tone very well, plus the Marshall overdrives on it rock. I could imagine having a 100 watt version of that would be really cool.
@SkaJon thanks but my band mate is gettin a stack so i dont wanna look like an idiot with the little combo on stage! so new question: would 15w heads (orange tiny terror, vox nightrain, etc) run through a 4x12 cab be loud enough for a gig?
@SuperGuitarguy97 I got this guitar brand new from a local shop in Ft Lauderdale Florida called Music Art Enterprises. Great shop, they setup every guitar on the wall, so they all play well, even the Squiers! They carry everything from Squiers to Custom shop Fenders and Gibsons. Relaxed atmosphere, it's my favorite shop.
@SuperGuitarguy97 Well for a bridge, it depends on what you want. I went with the Wilkinson Ashtray bridge with the Compensated saddles because I wanted traditional looks and modern function. I got that bridge from Guitarfetish For pickups I would have to say Wilde Bill Keystone pickups, hand wound pickups, made in the USA for under 100 dollars.
@jackslasho Thanks dude, not too many people playing ska music out there, always nice to hear from a fellow fan! I personally really like Traditional Ska and 2 Tone.
Alright, they've got this amp at my school, and I'll warn anyone considering buying... It sounds like absolute shit. Seriously. I understand a lot of people just want an amp loud enough to compete with drums, but seriously, save up for a hybrid amp with a preamp tube or something. I got an 150 watt Marshall AVT combo for only $120 used. There's better options than this shit.
@TheGeneLightShow Most of the venues I play are garage/house shows and the Frontman is great for those shows because it's a combo so it doesn't take up a lot of room and it's loud. I've also played larger venues like warehouses, sounded real good in there. I think the Frontman is a good choice for the underground, house/punk shows, bars, warehouses, garages, it's got it covered. Also I think you may like the overdrive for garage/ punk, it sounds better in person.
@meziah49 The guitar is a Fender Made in Mexico Telecaster, great guitar I'd never sell it. Squiers are quite nice, I own two and I really like them. If you are looking for a good Telecaster for cheap, I'd check out the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster, the Classic Vibes are guitars I respect for sure.
@czaromar Yeah man, the Frontman takes pedals like a champ. The amp clean amplifies pedals, so anything you put in you'll get out with no coloring. To most pedal users that is ideal.
@ihaveawesomevids Yeah man it's pretty flipping loud, I've played with a very loud drummer before and I could be heard easily. So unless you are playing with a gorilla with drums bigger that you I think the Frontman can handle it.
@EpiCasino198 This has been my experience most of the time. At practice I'll play on 2 or 3 Clean channel, during a gig I'll play on 6-8 Clean channel. The overdrive channel is louder, so I don't have to turn it up more.
@kurtcobainsk8dudu I think it's a good overdrive for treble heavy genres, I think it's great for 70s Punk. You can get a decent classic rock tone out of it as well. Plus on the low gain side Gain 1-3 it can be used for cow punk or some real gritty blues. I'm guessing you like Grunge by your username, I get a good Grunge sound using my Russian Big Muff Pi run into the clean channel. Bottom line if you need a very loud and cheap amp for practice or gigs and don't mind using a few pedals, go for it
Noted, well I play a lot of punk with this amp. I've found that the onboard drive does sound pretty good for the genre. Of course there are many different tones in punk and this amp is good for the 70s British punk sound. However with the addition of the Cool Cat Drive I can cover anything from the classic Ramones big Marshall sound all the way to the 90s Rancid/NOFX/ South California sound. So I'd say get this amp and a good distortion pedal. If you want PM me and I can help.
@kurtcobainsk8dudu It depends on what sound you are going for. General punk tone, you want a Marshall in a box type pedal. My favorite is the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive, very affordable and it nails punk tone. I would also look at Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion, the M Audio Crunch Box, Tech 21 Leeds pedal, the MXR Distortion III. I'd personally stay away from the Boss DS-1, way too raspy stock, you can mod them though. So check out some Youtube vids of those pedals, good luck!
@koocaracha Hell yeah they are! My Cool Cat Drive is my favorite pedal period. I kind of wish I had bought 2 before Danelectro discontinued the Version 1s. I'd really like to check out the Termolo. I'll have to do a demo of the Cool Cat Drive with this amp sometime. Thanks for watching!
Hi, nice amp review. Any thoughts on this amp versus a Hot Rod Deluxe? I'm trying to decide between the two. This amp is just so much more affordable and I'm not sold on the importance or higher quality of a tube amp. Thanks.
@splashfizz Now that's a tough question. I've had limited experience with the Hot Rod, from what I've played the clean is nice and the reverb is great. The drive was better from my experience. However I didn't get to crank it, so I didn't get tube breakup. I think it comes down to what you need and what you can afford. As long as you can get the tone you want. I'd say if you play gigs regularly I'd take the Hot Rod, based on the fact that tube amps are repaired more easily than solid state PM me
hey i have a question i have the same amp with a distortion pedal and i was wondering do i plug it in to the input jack in front or to the pwr input in the back?? THanks!!
Usually with distortion pedals you will connect them into the input of the amp and NOT the effects loop (Pwr In/ Pre Out) The only time you connect effects into the effects loop is if you are working with modeling or modulation effects such as phasers and flangers. Good luck man and remember google is your friend in most situations =)
haha thanks man, I'm not a soloist by any means. I prefer playing rhythm, just hammering out chords that's what I do.
Using the Frontman for metal, it is possible but you'll need a very good metal distortion pedal. Personally I would go for an amp more voiced for high gain music unless you really need 100 watts for cheap. If that's the case then get the amp, and a metal pedal and possibly an EQ and you'll probably be fine. If you get a chance try one in Guitar Center with a pedal.
Hey thanks for the criticism. I'm really a quite terrible lead player, I need practice in that area. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video and good luck on your amp research.
The Fender FM amps are a nice solid state amps. But like all Fender amps, they have the way to touchy volume control. Goes from low to window breaking.. Gotta use pedals to have better volume control..
Yeah the clean on Frontman amps are pretty transparent so it's just about perfect for using multi-FX pedals. So if you've got a ToneLab then go for it!
Yeah this beast is loud, it's my main gigging amp and I've played with loud bands. Thanks for the shout, I liked your review of the drive. Keep rockin'
Hell yeah dude, look at my screen name! Really any amp with a good bright clean will do for ska. Fenders are just about perfect for the style, Vox amps are also real nice. As for this amp it's great for ska, I've played it live in my friend's ska band and sounded great with the rest of the instruments, I had the clean set on 8. So if you need a loud clean amp on the cheap, then the Frontman will do it and if you need some distortion then just use the amp with a distortion pedal.
It's the Effects loop. You use the effects loop to bypass the pre amp, essentially you can cleanly amplify effects like flanger or multi effects units.
I like alot of tones can this amp by playing around with its channels and adding overdrive, fuzz, compression or tube screemer could iget tones like eric jhonson clean rhythm to a hendrix overdrive and is the reverb good enough for srv tone?
I think you can get reasonable approximations of those tones with the right combination of EQ and overdrive pedals. The reverb is alright, you could do better but it's usable, SRV will probably be just fine but if you wanted to play Surf you'll need to upgrade the tank or get a reverb pedal. It all just depends on what you need this amp to do If you need those gones at gigging volume then get this amp and a few pedals. If you need a practice amp look into some low watt tube amps or modeling amps
Like yout tshirt :P Im thinking of going for the frontman 65w. Since there are few vids on it do you think soun quality will decrease except for volume?
Great demo and keep practising your guitar. Take care bro.
Anyway the Frontman 65R is a pretty sweet amp, a whole lotta sound for a smaller box. No the sound quality doesn't decrease because the 65R has a 12 inch speaker so you'll be good. If you are looking for a loud and compact amp then the 65r will do it.
Hard Rock? AC/DC? I'd say it has decent passable tone for AC/DC style rock. I think the amp was voiced for that style of rock more than anything else. I'd say if you need a loud amp with decent AC/DC tone, this one will do. However if you get a couple of pedals you'll be set, you'd be surprised on how different the amp's overdrive can sound with the right pedals. For example if you use an EQ to dial out the Highs and boost the Bass on the amp's OD, it'll sound like a Marshall.
By its self, no I wouldn't recommend it for metal, the overdrive of the amp is not voiced for metal. However the clean channel of the amp takes pedals well, so perhaps if you tossed a metal pedal in front of it it'll probably give you a good heavy sound. Sorry I really don't listen to or enjoy metal, so I really couldn't tell you what a good metal tone would be but I've seen metal and hardcore bands use this amp with multi fx pedals. Powerful? Yes I would say it's pretty loud for combo.
I hear by itself this amp (in tradition with fender) is renowned for its clean tones. I got a chance to play a 212 at guitar centre with a boss gt10 and its amazing with fx.
Yeah dude the clean channel is awesome, just like Fender should sound. The clean is pretty transparent, so this amp is a perfect base for multi FX pedals, currently I have a Zoom G2 and it sounds very good with the Frontman since essentially the FM will put out anything you put in cleanly. During live performances I prefer to use single stomp boxes but I've seen guys use this amp with multi FX units live and they sound great. I think it's an under rated amp for the money. Good luck!
Can i play punkrock whit this amp?

@aaron93m I understand the allure of lots of features but what I've found works best for live gigging is the simplest solution possible. My only issue with gigging with digital amp is the possibility of it forgetting your presets or restarting in the middle of the gig, I've seen it happen before. Personally I would a get simple two channel amp, add some effects pedals if you want them. To experiment with different sounds try using a Multi FX at practice to figure which effects you like.
SkaJon 1 year ago
@SkaJon yeah true, thats why im planning on getting a Boss me-25

it doe ssound cool thought, i need a new amp for my band and it needs to be 100w on a budget, this looks favourite
strabbs1 1 year ago
mmmmmm, real spring reverb he says, is tht right??
strabbs1 1 year ago
@strabbs1 Yeah man, it's an actual spring. It's a small tank though, works pretty well but it doesn't give you that classic wet Fender spring reverb. You could buy an upgrade reverb tank if that's what you are looking for.
SkaJon 1 year ago
I've got this amp and play an Ibanez rg350 through it. It's loud enough to compete with a drummer, a Gibson through a Marshal half stack and a bass player who always plays Loud!!! ( my band) it give a good contrast with the other guitarist. Sweet amp!!!!!
RURALMAN1 1 year ago
@RURALMAN1 Man no kidding I just played a punk show with the Frontman. Drive 6 Volume 6, sounded great and easily got over the drummer, bassist with a 400 watt 4x10 and another guitarist with a 100 watt solid state Crate.

HELP! VOX VT100 OR FENDER FRONTMAN?
MeanGreenMovies 1 year ago
@MeanGreenMovies Well if you've got the money for a VT100, I'd say go for that dude. I have a Vox DA15 and it emulates the Fender clean tone very well, plus the Marshall overdrives on it rock. I could imagine having a 100 watt version of that would be really cool.
SkaJon 1 year ago
@SkaJon thanks but my band mate is gettin a stack so i dont wanna look like an idiot with the little combo on stage! so new question: would 15w heads (orange tiny terror, vox nightrain, etc) run through a 4x12 cab be loud enough for a gig?

sounds good
TornDays1 1 year ago
where did u score that guitar?
SuperGuitarguy97 1 year ago
@SuperGuitarguy97 I got this guitar brand new from a local shop in Ft Lauderdale Florida called Music Art Enterprises. Great shop, they setup every guitar on the wall, so they all play well, even the Squiers! They carry everything from Squiers to Custom shop Fenders and Gibsons. Relaxed atmosphere, it's my favorite shop.
SkaJon 1 year ago
im gonna build a tele... what bridge or pickups do u suggest?
SuperGuitarguy97 1 year ago
@SuperGuitarguy97 Well for a bridge, it depends on what you want. I went with the Wilkinson Ashtray bridge with the Compensated saddles because I wanted traditional looks and modern function. I got that bridge from Guitarfetish For pickups I would have to say Wilde Bill Keystone pickups, hand wound pickups, made in the USA for under 100 dollars.

great review, really thinking about getting this amp
TyM218 1 year ago
Alright, they've got this amp at my school, and I'll warn anyone considering buying... It sounds like absolute shit. Seriously. I understand a lot of people just want an amp loud enough to compete with drums, but seriously, save up for a hybrid amp with a preamp tube or something. I got an 150 watt Marshall AVT combo for only $120 used. There's better options than this shit.

SkaJon 1 year ago
would you say this amp is good for garage shows and small venues?
TheGeneLightShow 1 year ago
@TheGeneLightShow Most of the venues I play are garage/house shows and the Frontman is great for those shows because it's a combo so it doesn't take up a lot of room and it's loud. I've also played larger venues like warehouses, sounded real good in there. I think the Frontman is a good choice for the underground, house/punk shows, bars, warehouses, garages, it's got it covered. Also I think you may like the overdrive for garage/ punk, it sounds better in person.

Is your guitar a fender or a squier ?
meziah49 1 year ago
@meziah49 The guitar is a Fender Made in Mexico Telecaster, great guitar I'd never sell it. Squiers are quite nice, I own two and I really like them. If you are looking for a good Telecaster for cheap, I'd check out the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster, the Classic Vibes are guitars I respect for sure.
SkaJon 1 year ago
It sound good with pedals ??
czaromar 1 year ago
@czaromar Yeah man, the Frontman takes pedals like a champ. The amp clean amplifies pedals, so anything you put in you'll get out with no coloring. To most pedal users that is ideal.
SkaJon 1 year ago
is this loud enough to be heard over a loud drummer in practice?
ihaveawesomevids 1 year ago
@ihaveawesomevids Yeah man it's pretty flipping loud, I've played with a very loud drummer before and I could be heard easily. So unless you are playing with a gorilla with drums bigger that you I think the Frontman can handle it.
SkaJon 1 year ago
@ihaveawesomevids I was playing with a drummer and the amp was on 3 out of 10.
EpiCasino198 1 year ago
@EpiCasino198 This has been my experience most of the time. At practice I'll play on 2 or 3 Clean channel, during a gig I'll play on 6-8 Clean channel. The overdrive channel is louder, so I don't have to turn it up more.

@legoman844 Sweet! Good to see more punk rockers on youtube. BTW how do you like the amp so far?
SkaJon 1 year ago
@legoman844 That's a great deal! I'm curious what kind of music do you play with your FM 212R?
SkaJon 1 year ago
Do you think its a good distortion?
kurtcobainsk8dudu 1 year ago
@kurtcobainsk8dudu I think it's a good overdrive for treble heavy genres, I think it's great for 70s Punk. You can get a decent classic rock tone out of it as well. Plus on the low gain side Gain 1-3 it can be used for cow punk or some real gritty blues. I'm guessing you like Grunge by your username, I get a good Grunge sound using my Russian Big Muff Pi run into the clean channel. Bottom line if you need a very loud and cheap amp for practice or gigs and don't mind using a few pedals, go for it
SkaJon 1 year ago
@SkaJon
I'm not that into grunge anymore, more into punk now
kurtcobainsk8dudu 1 year ago
@kurtcobainsk8dudu
SkaJon 1 year ago
@SkaJon
So wich pedal do you recomand?
kurtcobainsk8dudu 1 year ago
@kurtcobainsk8dudu It depends on what sound you are going for. General punk tone, you want a Marshall in a box type pedal. My favorite is the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive, very affordable and it nails punk tone. I would also look at Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion, the M Audio Crunch Box, Tech 21 Leeds pedal, the MXR Distortion III. I'd personally stay away from the Boss DS-1, way too raspy stock, you can mod them though. So check out some Youtube vids of those pedals, good luck!

cool cat drives are awesome
koocaracha 1 year ago
@koocaracha Hell yeah they are! My Cool Cat Drive is my favorite pedal period. I kind of wish I had bought 2 before Danelectro discontinued the Version 1s. I'd really like to check out the Termolo. I'll have to do a demo of the Cool Cat Drive with this amp sometime. Thanks for watching!
SkaJon 1 year ago
Hi, nice amp review. Any thoughts on this amp versus a Hot Rod Deluxe? I'm trying to decide between the two. This amp is just so much more affordable and I'm not sold on the importance or higher quality of a tube amp. Thanks.
splashfizz 1 year ago

THanks!!
WelcomeToIowa69 1 year ago
@WelcomeToIowa69
SkaJon 1 year ago
@JvTheSkiier
haha thanks man, I'm not a soloist by any means.
SkaJon 1 year ago
does this amp have a line out feature?
kgnarrowgate 1 year ago
@kgnarrowgate
Yes it does, Fender labeled it as the Pre Out jack. The manual says that you can use the Pre Out as a line out to recording devices.

Hey thanks for the criticism. I'm really a quite terrible lead player, I need practice in that area. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video and good luck on your amp research.
SkaJon 1 year ago
The Fender FM amps are a nice solid state amps. But like all Fender amps, they have the way to touchy volume control. Goes from low to window breaking.. Gotta use pedals to have better volume control..
wedge070 1 year ago
Would this amp sound even better with a Vox Tonelab LE?
ballflesh3 1 year ago
@ballflesh3
Yeah the clean on Frontman amps are pretty transparent so it's just about perfect for using multi-FX pedals. So if you've got a ToneLab then go for it!
SkaJon 1 year ago

hey, is this amp perfect for ska?
i only play ska, my life is ska, should i buy this one?
thx
ska4you 1 year ago
Hell yeah dude, look at my screen name! Really any amp with a good bright clean will do for ska. Fenders are just about perfect for the style, Vox amps are also real nice. As for this amp it's great for ska, I've played it live in my friend's ska band and sounded great with the rest of the instruments, I had the clean set on 8. So if you need a loud clean amp on the cheap, then the Frontman will do it and if you need some distortion then just use the amp with a distortion pedal.
SkaJon 1 year ago
what is a pre in and pre out mean
posiedonpowertrio 1 year ago
It's the Effects loop. You use the effects loop to bypass the pre amp, essentially you can cleanly amplify effects like flanger or multi effects units.
SkaJon 1 year ago
I like alot of tones can this amp by playing around with its channels and adding overdrive, fuzz, compression or tube screemer could iget tones like eric jhonson clean rhythm to a hendrix overdrive and is the reverb good enough for srv tone?
GTYOYO 2 years ago
I think you can get reasonable approximations of those tones with the right combination of EQ and overdrive pedals. The reverb is alright, you could do better but it's usable, SRV will probably be just fine but if you wanted to play Surf you'll need to upgrade the tank or get a reverb pedal. It all just depends on what you need this amp to do If you need those gones at gigging volume then get this amp and a few pedals. If you need a practice amp look into some low watt tube amps or modeling amps
SkaJon 2 years ago
Like yout tshirt :P Im thinking of going for the frontman 65w. Since there are few vids on it do you think soun quality will decrease except for volume?
Great demo and keep practising your guitar. Take care bro.
MrJackanthony 2 years ago
Thanks dude, 2 Tone forever!
Anyway the Frontman 65R is a pretty sweet amp, a whole lotta sound for a smaller box. No the sound quality doesn't decrease because the 65R has a 12 inch speaker so you'll be good. If you are looking for a loud and compact amp then the 65r will do it.
SkaJon 1 year ago
Thanks. Appreciate it.

ALIENDOOKIE 2 years ago
Hey man! Thanks for watching! I hope this video helped out in your amp research.
SkaJon 1 year ago
Hey ! Nice Vid !
I Have a Question :
The Amp. are realy good for Hard Rock? Like AC/DC or Led Zepplin ?
Matt0love0hardrock 2 years ago
Thanks man.
Hard Rock? For example if you use an EQ to dial out the Highs and boost the Bass on the amp's OD, it'll sound like a Marshall.

windhipo 2 years ago
is this amp good for like heavy stuff? is it powerful?
fritosofdoritos 2 years ago
By its self, no I wouldn't recommend it for metal, the overdrive of the amp is not voiced for metal. However the clean channel of the amp takes pedals well, so perhaps if you tossed a metal pedal in front of it it'll probably give you a good heavy sound. Sorry I really don't listen to or enjoy metal, so I really couldn't tell you what a good metal tone would be but I've seen metal and hardcore bands use this amp with multi fx pedals. Powerful? Yes I would say it's pretty loud for combo.
SkaJon 2 years ago
I hear by itself this amp (in tradition with fender) is renowned for its clean tones. I got a chance to play a 212 at guitar centre with a boss gt10 and its amazing with fx.
MrJackanthony 2 years ago
Yeah dude the clean channel is awesome, just like Fender should sound. The clean is pretty transparent, so this amp is a perfect base for multi FX pedals, currently I have a Zoom G2 and it sounds very good with the Frontman since essentially the FM will put out anything you put in cleanly. During live performances I prefer to use single stomp boxes but I've seen guys use this amp with multi FX units live and they sound great. I think it's an under rated amp for the money. Good luck!
