In order to travel across galaxies, you must be able to travel at the speed of light. As I was told in physics, in order to travel at the speed of light, you must have infinite mass and energy. If you can harness infinite mass and energy, i'm pretty darn sure you can destroy a pesky planet. Heck, in a matter of year, WE will be able to destroy all life on this planet.

There would be no war. They could use many kinds of weapon that would only destroy life on the planet, and yet keep its perfect conditions for life, thus taking the planet for themselves. They would still have the "rare" planet, and without the pesky life forms on it. No resistance.

And in Halo, WE colonised other planets, and they found us on there, and then i believe they followed us (humans) back. Plus, the Halo story line is completely stupid and un-believeable.

to traverse solar systems only means that you have achieved a very efficient way of travel. it has nothing to do with weapons. besides the most effective weapon in space is the most primitive. just take a small spaceship. hook it up to an asteroid and pull the asteroid into a trajectory that intercepts a planet then let physics take care of the rest

IMO I think humanity has a very high chance of surviving. We have the weapons and I think we even have the training, (not for aliens) but we can adapt our training, etc.

I recommend doing further research in the field of the 'Drake Equation' in fact there is a good vid on YouTube in which Carl Segan explains this pretty well. The fact is that Aliens have a smaller chance of being more advanced than us on Earth rather than being a primitive race soon studied by us when we will be able to travel faster & farther. You know, all this is good, but they are assuming two things that make huge diffences. One is that the aliens want the planets in one piece or good enough for "immediate use".
