It's so good to see that Europe is learning from its mistakes and going free market...or at least that there's a voice for it there. They really need it right now, and might just become the new US in terms of a free market business environment, because America is going in the exact opposite direction.
@BasilFawlty4444 They only thing it's wrong because they're self-entitled pricks who've never worked in their life for what they have. They want the government to take care of them. To that it needs to tax. Then they wonder why there are no jobs. It really is entertaining the level of economic illiteracy people exhibit.
They're all socially liberal oh yeah, human rights, freedom, whatever, but when it comes to economics, they don't know JACKSHIT.
@BasilFawlty4444 Yeh, NHS. NHS is also arguably the LEAST efficient and WORST healthcare system in the developed world. Little surprise, people go on medical vacations, AWAY from britain, to go to countries where the market is more competitive.
Your government can't take care of its own people, and they have to pull their own fucking teeth out, or walk around with terrible dental.
According to Your Surgery Abroad, 60% of Americans would consider travelling abroad to escape the cost of healthcare in the US. A biased survey? Almost certainly.
But according to Deloitte, over 5% of Americans actually will travel abroad for healthcare.
The corresponding figure for the UK is 0.1%, the VAST majority of which are for non-NHS treatments including dentistry, cosmetic surgery and fertility treatment.
Take a look at the Commonwealth Fund 'Mirror Mirror' report of 2010. The UK ranked 1st for efficiency out of seven first world healthcare systems. The overall rankings were:
1. Netherlands
2. United Kingdom
3. Australia
4. Germany
5. New Zealand
6. Canada
7. United States
This report absolutely kills your argument. Stone dead.
Look fact is our health insurance is fascist and not free market at all. Lowering taxes do not create healthcare. Vouchers do not control healthcare cost.
We don't have consumer choice here when doctors are selected by plans and healthcare companies raise premiums.
Nothing is financed directly by government. The people sometimes finance things indirectly through government. That's why healthcare won't get fixed when we're asking the question "how much will it cost?" as if insurance laws will change that. It's ultimately going to cost the same amount no matter how it's being paid for as is, but if we fixed the actual problems (like tort reform) the argument about how to set insurance up would have more meaning long-term.
@superguitarman69 and his ilk are without any shadow of a doubt the stupidest, most pathetic, non thinking weakling drones in America. I used to feel sorry for them. NO MORE. Now it's time to expose you and have everyone understand you need to be in the Nuthouse! What a loser.

Ya free health care sucks ass. You know, I wish I could be indebted to insurance companies but the government won't let me. Corporate manipulation of medicare/medicaid is bankrupting us. Getting honest politicians/regulators/judges is the only way out of this mess w/o complete collapse of the economy/govt
The latest evidence of corporate tampering? Julie Gerberding, CDC head. Rather than protecting public health Gerberding encouraged more needless vaccination & paid drug/snakeoil companies to ramp up to vax 300 MILLION against the non-threat swine flu
She recently resigned to head of Merck's Vaccine Division
Thank goodness we are repealing health care. There are Thousands of pages no one has read or understood. . This government has shown their inability to make good dicisions. Getting us in to trillions of dollars worth of debt is unacceptable. We cannot trust them to do the right thing. The sooner they are all out of office the better condition our country will be in. They Just don't have plain old common sense. They have no bussiness sense at all.
What you are not seeing is the complete corruption of the government by corporate people. Without this corrupting corporate influence we would have an idyllic society, trading with countries that have similar costs of doing business
Forcing American to compete with 3rd world economies just puts American businesses out of business, drives wages down, makes paupers out of the middle class. Do we have to learn the lessons of the 1800's corporate robber barons all over again?
No...I can't go back and get free treatment: I am a US citizen...a naturalized *legal* immigrant. That means I willingly went through a swearing ceremony in which I renounced allegiance to my former country. My loyalty is to the USA and I am an American (unhyphenated!).
However, to make the system efficient, it is not enough to eliminate government 3rd party payer . One also needs to eliminate all sorts of non-government 3rd party payers.
This is how it used to work. In the past, people went to doctors and paid to doctors. Then insurance health companies appeared - a 3rd party. Then, on top of that - HMOs and PPOs - a 4th party, supposedly to correct the 3rd party.
@CanYouAffordObama Fact: dont blame Obama, he gave the insurance company CEOs what they wanted. The next man in office will not take it away, not after the CEOs get a lick of that kind of cash.
As a sane individual, I know they are making profits because they help us recover our health and/or prolong our lives with some comfort that nature could not afford us.
Yes, some can't afford such services, but being as we live in a civilized society, there are those who will aid them voluntarily. Is this what you find so unjust?
@Liberalizer612 If you're a doctor or nurse you would expect to be paid for your services, wouldn't you? Frankly, why would you even want to receive "free" care?
@Liberalizer612 Well it's not just corporations. The doctor that works at a hospital don't all the times work for the hospital. Heart surgeons have to pay to perform heart surgery in a surgery room of a hospital. Alone with paying all the other specialist needed to preform the surgery.
In a civilized society we don't let government take part in anything to do with healthcare.
@rickbar123 Trust me we don't allow SEUI pussy's around here. I'll take a obama care voodoo hospital before I go around where there's a SEIU employees working.
Obama may be a one-term president, but the phrase 'ObamaCare' could haunt us the rest of our lives...and even be listed as a future Cause of Death, i.e., 'He or she died from ObamaCare'.
When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”
“Who’s the bigger fool? The fool, or the fool who follows him?”
@rbjnla: Why is everyone so confused with simple words? You state: "Free Market Healthcare?" Have you already forgotten Anthem Blue Cross's 38% rate increase? Insurance Companies are NOT the good guys".
Is your Car Insurance the same as your local Auto Body Shop? Hospitals & Pharmaceutical manufacturers have higher profit margins than Health Insurance companies --- and Health Insurance companies pay the claims of hospitals & prescriptions.
Dr. Donald Berwick, the man who will run your health care: "I cannot believe that the individual health care consumer can enforce through choice the proper configurations of a system as massive and complex as health care. That is for leaders to do. ... A progressive policy regime will control and rationalize financing—control supply. ... About 8% of GDP is plenty for 'best known' care."
This is what the Obama Zombies refused to see. Obama should have allowed buying across state lines, tort reform and helped to support smaller insurance companies to stay in the market, increasing competition.
It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.
The problem is that they are not competing and why should they ? If your in business to make as much profit as possible, wouldn't you want a playing field where you have a captive market ? Your 101 theory has not worked because the insurance companies have formed a union of non competiveness and it all falls under the 101 title of American Greed.
Insurance drives up price of medical services. Case in point, Lasik eye surgery is not covered by insurance. Started out at $5K. Economies of scale and competition have brought it down to $500.
Abortion has been $200 for a few decades because most insurance doesn't cover it.
No prescription drug would cost $400 a month if first parties had to pay. Few would be able to afford it.
Way back when, doctors charged what customers could pay. Insurance changed that.
Having family in Holland, I can verify the inefficiency of government run healthcare!
I have a blood test done in the US...and by the time I walk from the lab to the doctors office, the results are waiting for me.
My aunt waits....and waits...for permission to have a blood test done. Then she waits...and waits to have it done. And then she waits some more: sometimes 3 weeks before she receives the results.
So wait for it...with Obamacare you'll need a lot of patience!
Obama indeed seems to be offering a people's government solution to all human problems. He is, after all, running for President of the United States, not for a pulpit. Substituting the state for God as provider has been the inherent common thread in all Marxist regimes.
She's absolutely right, and it's all stuff that Milton Friedman and the Chicago Boys pointed out decades ago. The only "problem" with her proposed solution is that it would actually take power away from politicians, so politicians naturally react like vampires to garlic.
If states removed a lot of the costly and unneeded mandates (drug rehab, mental health parity, chirporpracter, invitro fertilization, etc), allowed EVERYONE to purchase across state lines and everyone got "catastrophic insurance" (your policy says nothing until you pay $2000 out-of-pocket) you would have low premiums for the young, they could save a lot of money on premiums and it would assist them in the event of a serious health event.
Whoa! Didn't know that CFPE had political bias. Just to make a counter-argument, before the Health Care reform, you could be denied coverage if you had pimples or chicken pox 20 years ago. Giving everything to the free market with no regulation results in disasters like BP oil spills or children dieing because insurance companies want to capitalize n someone's death than treat them. The reform was weak and nothing like a "gov. takeover", damn Republican talking points!
@TheDepreso Insurance is not for health care. It to insure in case of rare diseases. This is the problem with American insurance is they think it supposed to pay for everything that happens. Hospital doesn't deny you. The insurance company does. If we would make a law to remove third party payment what this video is describing against third party involvement. Our health care would be more cheaper and competitive.
@TheDepreso Also, The BP spill could of been have been easily solved by shock waving the hole closed. but because of regulation in our government the BP lobby for more power. Our federal level should regulate any form of pollution because it effect the land and everyone. It shouldn't do it in a way that allows certain company's to have privilege over others. This is causing our free market to turn into corporatism over the last 100years.
@TheDepreso is berift of any common sense or understanding how the free market works...
Apparently even though its painfully obvious that federal interference in the oil exploration field is as much to blame as BP is this poor DOLT can't figure it out...
@TheDepreso A lot of the supporters of Øbamacare like to rail against the ins. cos. Fine, but you don't punish them by making everyone buy from them. They should have pushed us all into maintaining health savings accounts and only use insurance for catastrophic care. That would take ins. cos. out of 90% of the transactions. It is not a govt takeover now, but there are regs in it that will drive the ins. cos. out of business over time, thus leaving govt as the only option.
It's so good to see that Europe is learning from its mistakes and going free market...or at least that there's a voice for it there. They really need it right now, and might just become the new US in terms of a free market business environment, because America is going in the exact opposite direction.
