  • @Quelvisv You're welcome sir....lol!!

  • this was always a favorite of mine as a child '''' even now the blend of his voice an melody is soo sweet

  • now this is soca...not that nonsense they try to pass of as music these days

  • I was shocked when he died especially as he was hit by a car helping a fellow driver in difficulties!!!!!!!!!

  • Class is class! Listen to that melody, that is true SOCA!

  • Favourite track of mine...

  • thanks to such great fans 4 putting these videos on the net, bless!!!!

  • grjoseph it was free french i play pan in free french and later wasa silvertones, maestro used to arranged for free french.

  • Boy Grant, is that you!! One of the baddest six bassmen in South the 1960's.

What a bass section Silvertones had in '68.

. Jonesy, Pickett, Raymond, Johnny Cool etc. You would know me from Marabella . I was on tenor bass.

I did not beat in Free French, and I knew Maestro so it must have been earlier in the Marabella band.

PS. picket still beating a nine Bass in Boston.

  • I really appreciate this. I was too young to know Maestro, but my brothers were major fans and would always tell me about his music. They were devastated when he passed and always said how eerie it was he made this song and passed soon afterwards

  • Meastro was also a gifted pannist. I remember he brought down a small panside (from princes Town, if memory serves me)to join with us for a panorama in the late sixties. I believe my band then was Scarlet Symphony of Marabella

  • Is it Free French?? Correct me if I'm wrong...

  • Nah, I beat pan with two bands in the sixties, Scarlet Symphony in Marabella and Wasa Silvertones in Sando.

If not Scarlet it must have been Silvertones from up the Coffee. (We get old, memory fades a little)

  • May be a composition about a past accident - but it gives me chills whenever he says don't cry they're bringing me back better than before. His early death made him even more of a legend....

  • Maestro and Lord Shorty were two of my favourites

  • thanks foreignmovies, preciate the clarification nuff respect

  • was this a vision or pure co-incidence.whatever he still lives on, he was in a class of his own

  • He was singing about a near fatal car accident from 1975. So I would say it was coincidence....

  • @004561 I was a child when this happened. I recall that he had a dream of his accidental death. It caused a change in his dress...he started wearing black clothes and painted his car black ( projecting what he saw was his earthly end ) The (tv show) "Bionic Man" was an image he chose to include in his song to portray himself stronger on his journey.....after death. This lives with many people up to this day. I remembered it like it was yesterday.

  • maestro was ahead of his time by at least 10 yrs the closest was shorty

  • OMG I still can't listen to this song without my blood runnig cold. He just about foretold his death. Too bad he was a master at this.We still love him
