try a lower plait, smaller length whip and that should solve your problems. Your whips is a little too supple and way to long

i'm not using 8 ft whips usually :). It's just example of mine handmade whips. I prefer 5 ft or 3,5 ft stock.

i think you are a little sloppy. Not because you really are but it seems that 8ft is too big for you. if you had a couple of 6ft stockwhips you could do miracles.
