By setting the timer for a couple of seconds, you can release the button after pressing it, so the camera won't take the picture while being held down by your finger. It's hard to explain, but it works. Notice how in my old viddeos the camera is extremelely shaky, I used the timer o fix that, now the camera doen't move at all.

I have a canon Powershot a620, but it should be similar. The middle button, between the arrows that u use to view pictures you know? Well, try pressing it. It should say Func/setting on it or something like that. Press it, and a bar will appear on the side of the screen. Go up and down til you seee a bar with clocks on the bottom. Here, you should be able to pick differenttimer settings.

Much smoother, just try to keep the camera still. If you have a timer, it helps.
