I don't agree that the record is just a short episode and band will last forever..its just the other way round..lots of great albums, like great books, great thoughts, great inventions will stay for long long years, often outgrowing their creators..
He means that the people in bands and their relationships are more important and are more valuable than the work that they preserve(record). This view puts people ahead of things. Most producers think in the opposite way, because they believe the record(thing to sell) is more important than the people.
He's saying that real people are more valuabe than things.
I understand what you are saying, but on a philosophical level, putting the Man in the center of the world has created all the problems we are facing together (including the capitalist norms Steve is opposing here..). what do you think about this?
..Also the artifacts ARE the civilisation ITSELF. When you talk about Romans or Egyptians, you talk about what they have produced in terms of arts, buildings, books, hieroglyphs etc. So when he says civilisation is more important than the artifacts, to me it sounds a bit contradictary..I can understand he is trying to critisise capitalism and I do support that but in my opinion for the sake of his argument, in some of his remarks, he is making too much generalisation..
Boa. Eu sou de Recife e não pude ir aos shows no sul/sudeste... mas curto muito Shellac e fiquei feliz em poder ver uma entrevista feita em terra nostra.
what in the name of fuck has Oasis contributed to the betterment of humanity? i suppose building bridges to our primate cousins by employing an ape as the vocalist is good, but musically? c' fucking' mon.
my opinion, not meant nastily, have a laugh, Liam is a bit of a chimp, so there. please don't hurt me.

Nope, sounds fantastic to me... never heard the CD though... only the vinyl.
I do think Flood ruined the follow-up though.
