  • my weakness. sometimes I think it's my DNA.

  • you can't go wrong with Frank Vincent...no wonder Scorsese loves him

  • Compare this scene of Tony and Christopher to a similar scene in the motel back when Phil was threatening to kill Chris. In the earlier scene, there is genuine trust, affection and warmth. Here, everything is cold, robotic and suspicious. It's clear their relationship is headed for disaster.

  • Very epic' and impressively made. Kudos

  • This is some kind of remix. The original version, although sounds almost identical, doesn't have the same amount of snare drums in it. The poster of this video cut off the credits meanwhile the song keeps playing. And right before the "Chase Films" logo at the very end, there's like 4 snare drum sequences in a row that aren't in the original. The original only has 2 very short ones. Would love to know what remix or B-Side this version was..

  • Just Finished Watching on A&E =)

  • one of best television scenes ever

  • Which version of Chickentown is it? Cause John Cooper Clarke - Evidently Chickentown has no music on it only recital so...

  • @businka19 Sorry I don't know :/

  • @businka19 This is the same version of Evidently Chickentown by John Cooper Clarke & Wild Billy Barrett that I'd heard in the '80s, so you must have heard a different version, possibly live. Maybe you're thinking of "Health Fanatic" from Urgh: A Music War?

  • @businka19 this is the version on his 1980 album snap, crackle and bop. the band is called the invisible girls i think.

  • @MegaHughsie That's indeed the one! U're the man!

  • @businka19

    Visuals Evidently Chickentown

  • @businka19

    title: Evidently Chickentown

    author: John Cooper Clarke

    album: Snap, Crackle & Bop

    track: 1/13

  • This scene sets the tone for the rest of the series. "No more Butchie. No more ah dis."

  • This scene sets the tone for the rest of the series.

  • This scene is inspirational for the any underdog anywhere, it simply means he has had enough of being bullied and is going to stand up for himself, could not stand Phil in the series, but this scene is probably my favourite in TV history...

  • In hind sight , with the strategy and man power that Phil had , He should of won this War. Whether you like it or not Tony was a terrible Boss. He always let his emotions run him., rather than be smartly decisive.. e.g. I mean fuck he killed Ralph over a fucking horse? But not the fact that Ralph killed a 19yo single mom in the partking lot of the Bing? I mean his views and perceptions was truly warped. Phil, he is about uomini d'onore thing > men of honor.

  • @GamerOldSkool I kinda agree with what you said about Phil, I mean he ran New York which could of easily crushed New Jersey but Tony a bad boss? he took some very risky decisions he even whacked half his best guys because they were too hot-headed for his crew but even after all that he was still loved by everyone around him, he was a stand up guy

  • @GamerOldSkool

If you listen when Tony was strangling Ralphie, it was sort of implied that he was talking about both the stripper and the horse. The horse was just the last straw for him, but you can tell that the thing with the stripper stayed with him the whole time. I think Tony's real downfall was nepotism. He spent too much effort protecting Tony B and Chris, even when they were becoming liabilities.

  • @osamabad I 100% whole heartedly agree with you about his nepotism, great post indeed.

  • No more, Butchie. No more'a this.

  • Best show ever and this is one of the reasons why.

  • Tony Soprano survived and you didn't bitch.

  • @OrionKnights No he didn't.

  • Leotardo (instead of Leonardo) that's my fuckin' legacy!

  • I have a friend who's studying psychology and her assignment for one of the semester was to do a research on characters of The Sopranos. She was complaining about being obligated to watch the whole 6 seasons.

  • This is the scene where Phil L. declares war on the Soprano. simply explained :))

  • Fucking classic. Leotardo is ice cold

  • Tony covered Christophers nose when they hugged. A sign of things to come?

  • This scene blows my mind. best set up for a mob war, ever.

  • 1:48 Sambuca... Cheers!!!!

  • This reminds me of the baptism scene in the Godfather. All the hypocrites on the altar.

  • Oh shit Chris is startin to get white hair. Didin't know he was that old.

  • Great scene. What does it mean to be a man? It's what the show is all about. Kinda connects with the title "Walk like a man".

  • thats an erie ending, he knows hes going down

  • without doubt my fave ending

  • This might be the best ending I have ever seen in TV. It draws the viewer to the realization that war is going to begin without ever mentioning it specifically. The pics of the past bosses, self loathing for inaction, and the song itself, tie together in a seamless manner. Incredible work.

  • serious fuckin chooon

  • serious fuckin chooon

  • I completely agree, this is by far my favourite ending to an episode, the song fits perfectly.

  • definitely the best ending for me..

  • from 1:37 on.....EPIC!

  • The boss is born.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME TO THIS SONG?

  • @eloseohmartinez

John Cooper Clarke - Evidently Chickentown

  • chris is one of the best characters, his death was much needed but it also was a heartbreak for the fact we seen him come a long way even seen him pop his cherry(he committed the first murder of series).. his death was only needed becuz he continued to hurt tony he also fucked up too much and recieved too many chances back in the old days he would've died for being a junky alone...

  • no more butchie...no more

  • what does he mean no more of this? does he want out?

  • @cesarwall214 He means he wont get pushed around nor take any more crap. And that decision is the beginning of a war

  • @cesarwall214 it pretty much means he is done with new jersey and hes gonna start a war with them

  • @cesarwall214 no you fuck, he means 'no more compromising' aka blood will flow

  • @cesarwall214 - It means a lot of people are going to get killed irregardless of any strategic relevance.

  • I think this was Phil's best scene. It's the eyes and the body language that does it.

  • As much as Butch respected Phil, he sold him out as soon as the war with the Sopranos started going south and affecting business. Like Nicky says in 'Casino,' "the dollars . . . always the f*ckin' dollars . . .".

I thought this scene was the precursor for Chris to finally betray Tony, probably to the Feds or maybe to Phil.

  • I disagree about Tony killing Chris cuz of the drugs. At the end of first part of the sixth season. He wanted to kill Chris for sleeping with that Jewish girl. Like Tony said to his doctor, "Christmas isn't over yet"

  • Genius fuckin ending

  • the sopraons always seems to find songs which in a strange way fits the scene --- just poetry in motion -- gives u goosebumps.. greate artistic achievement

  • Butchy is kind of baddass too. He doesn't do a lot in the series but he has the swagger

  • Way to cut the song off.

  • amazing ending. great fuckin song.

  • Yes Tony did kill Chris he was pissed for being s lisbility taking drugs he would of been flipped by the FBI

  • Best end credits song ever.

So menacing and even better the second time around when you realise the greater significance of Tony and Chrissy's embrace.

  • READY 2 UNLEASH HELL...

  • 10/10

  • phil gets all gangsta at 0:36

  • Just seen this episode for the first time. Fully agree with you. Phil's dialogue, the expressions on Chris & Tony's faces, the music. Could not have been any better.

  • Best ever. Amazing. So many layers. The top layer is just plain badass. My weakness...sometimes I think it's in my DNA...

  • This is rather a beginning than an ending

  • Really need to watch Sopranos, I missed the boat. Love John Cooper Clark. Is this song really on the soundtrack, if so that's really fucking cool. Great music, goes so well with this scene.

  • @FakePlasticJames

Yes it is! The whole scene got so many feelings and together with this version of Evidently Chickentown, cinematography, acting and directing it make one of the best episode endings of all time!

Fun that you liked it as well and yeah, you should really watch The Sopranos! ;)

  • @Lrrrrrrrr Agree 100%. I just watched the Soprans beginning to end last couple months. This scene really gave me goosebumps with the music playing in the background.

  • @FakePlasticJames

Watch out, there's alternate versions out there that have shitty music replacing the original good stuff. Anything that sounds generic, you'll know what I'm talking about. Luckily, you can tell what you got in the first episode. If "I Wonder Why" by "Dion And The Belmonts" isn't playing, then you got fucked.

  • @crumblingimages

In the scene where he's chasing the guy through the office park in Chris' Lexus
