  • And than: ...the german refinement...!

Das kommt ein bischen vorwurfsvoll rüber, oder? Ich glaube nicht, dass die BAYER-AG für das Heroin Prozente bekommt... (auch wenn es ihnen locker zuzutrauen wäre)

  • Well the drug has reached the heartland and in the form of oxy. everywhere, so in this orwellian world we are in I would say the war on drugs is working...huh?

  • Uhh...yeah.

  • @gawagney This is what he typed " It's likely footage from a pharma lab that makes perocet. In that day and age it was likely the Dupont plant that they filmed figuring that although the end products are different the production method is the same" .I pretty much think when he typed plant he meant the opium poppy plant that is used to make percocet and some generic percocet pills have the word Dupont scorched onto the pill. There was no pharmaceutical plant in this film but the poppy plant was.

  • the poppy pods it shows in the beginning and the one cut open to show the latex are not even opium poppies! instead of papaver somniferum those are papaver orientale. no narcotic alkaloids whatsoever. they could have done more research.

  • the funny thing is that iSLAM prohibits drugs and alcoholic drinks..... but they produce drugs....they are proud of their religion, but at the same time , producing drug, they spit on kORAN... hahaahah

  • so... why'd they search the mexican? there was no probable cause other than the fact that he was a mexican.

yes this is a political comment on the new arizona anti-immigration law.

  • Any one from Philly watch this? At 19:50 thats the ship on Delaware Ave at Snyder for past 15yrs, Im I right?

  • the forbidden fruit ...

  • Is that Paul Newmans voice in the backround thats talking in this documentary.

  • OH YEAH, BACK IN THE DAZE.....!

  • Paul Newman's son died of an overdose, so perhaps that's why he did this film.

  • great video very intersting i love these old drug information videos a little history and entertainment haha

  • Interesting documentary, thanks for the upload. Contrary to what this video's description / info states; The Taliban put an almost complete stop to opium production in Afghanistan. It was only when the u.s. invaded, did the opium crops reach to record high levels.

With drugs being the worlds -third largest trade- , it's not just a few tribal people profiting, entire corporations and governments are involved.

So let's keep things real, and not always resort to blaming the easiest targets.

  • The Poppies that they show at the begining of this video are not Opium Poppies. They are Papaver Oriental Poppies, they have very little or no active alkaloids in them and are not used to produce Opium. Anyway, this is still a great video. Thank you for posting!

  • Fantastic

  • That's strange, they keep showing people milking Papaver Orientalis. No opium.

  • It's likely footage from a pharma lab that makes percocet. In that day and age it was likely the Dupont plant that they filmed figuring that although the end products are different the production method is the same.

  • @lesterclaypool1 Hey Lester Dupont isn't a plant Dupont is the name of a pharmaceutical company that also makes percocet, actualy they make the brand name percocets. If you ever go to the ER for chronic pain and get the circular white 5mg percocet tablets, usualy you get the brand name percocets in the hospital and on that pill it will say Dupont. The name of the plant that your talking about is called the papaver somniferum poppy plant.

  • @Ned029 I think the word, 'plant', was used as the term for factory and don't think he meant the plant (vegetation) was called Dupont. Re-read the comment and use my suggestion. The posting will then make sense.....Just a quick clarification.

  • this natural plant was the fabric of past empires. It led wars and advancement of surgery. A wonder plant, Then we delve into evil to extract it to potent herion

  • The goverment contorols the prices of the drugs by contrlling the amount allowed in our borders. All of this is to keep the user poor.

  • Nice footage of old NYc! drugs were made illegal to insure a working slave force for the "rich".Using drugs is NOT a moral issue(good/bad) the ancient Greeks embraced the use of opium and other drugs.this vid is an example of the lies and propaganda our governments force feed us. If drugs were legal doctors/lawyers, big pharma etc. would be OUT of business.

  • damn .. 2 to 10 years for a single possession? like one or two "baggies" of heroin? that is crazy, remind me not to ever have that in my possession, I'd hate to forget and end up behind bars for 2-10 years. :-D

  • Amazing how some things stay the same. Yeah, we're in Afganhistan to kill bin Laden. Smoke me another bowl and lay that oil pipeline down.

  • this was a great doc! I cant believe it was made that long ago it deals with the subject in a responsible manner.

  • in a way, that makes the politicians who support the "War on Drugs" even more dishonest - clear knowledge about the nature of drugs and their use/abuse has been available for decades, but they choose to propagandize what is useful for them.

  • The CIA is bringing most cocaine and heroin into the country. The government uses the money raised to finace WAR and armies.

  • Bring back the opium dens!

  • Why is it that this didn't seem to be such a problem before the East India Company and governments started trafficking in and regulating the use of certain plants?

  • thanks for the movie

  • the poppy is also a flower!!!

  • great video. watched it more than once. OPIUM.

  • Papaver Soniferum, Ahh what a beatiful yet destructive plant. Its brought so much joy to many, but has torn apart almost every life it's touched. I guess there's two sides to everything, and I for one love the euphoric side a little too much. Opium and other opiates were made for man to take, humans and animals alike have opiate receptors that can only be activated if a opiate is consumed.

  • Thank God for opium and eventually morphine.

  • Nice, I like the style of these old documentaries from the music screenplay editing ect. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks!

  • very good video man, i watched the whole thing.
