  • you have to try gravy on salmon patties! We were broke and my Grandpa made gravy (pretty much for a filler) and put it on our patties....awesome! Now we wont eat em without it, and we use crushed saltines in the salmon then fry....and of course use leftover grease for the gravy! Got to try it

  • This brought back memories of when I travelled as a kid with my mom. Whenever we stayed at a motel and ate their continental breakfast, I always spotted this and salivated over the smell. My Asian ass mistook it for some sort of morning soup/porridge and enjoyed it by the bowlful. I craved it at times and became sad not knowing its name. Now I am embarrassed to say that I ate gravy in a bowl. Thanks to you I now can make bowlfuls of this deliciousness! :)

  • Great pointers! I tend to get lazy and whip up gravies on the fly, just throwing in some flour or cornstarch and water to thicken, but not really letting it cook. It works, but it ain't the real thing. You make me stop and rethink, and I realize that it's been a while since I've just slowed down and made REAL sausage gravy. I'm past due...

    And yea, I'm gonna have to be more careful when shopping. I've had a couple of sausages that didn't make much grease. And I'm lost when that happens, because dumping in corn(monsanto) oil messes with my head. lol

    Kinda like you, I asked my mom how to make it when I was 12-13. And was making it alot back then. And well, getting back into it again these days. If I don't have some gravy for 3 weeks I B Jones'n.

    This is the way my best friend makes biscuits and gravy, except he does it on a way larger scale. Like 2 pounds of sausage larger. Plus sausage links. His biscuits are about 6 inches across and when he splits them he butters the inside and then grills the insides. Amazing. So very bad for you though. Another awesome video. You're by far the best cooking show around.

  • Hey Hilah! Good lookin gravy. I keep a canister of Wondra flour in my cupboard for when my gravy doesn't come out thick enough. That is granulated flour you can add to warm sauces and it won't clump. But don't put it in boiling liquid or it will clump. Just a little insurance for when we add a little too much milk or broth to gravies. Thanks for sharing! Noreen

Sometimes there's bacon and fried eggs and waffles and ham and pancakes and syrup and jelly and cornbread and giant bowls of cream and whole sticks of butter and pitchers of molasses and sometimes when you're lucky, someone brings over an entire deer. Now THAT'S breakfast!!!
