  • I heard that Lorber was the "illegitimate" son of Donald Fagin???

  • Be sure to purchase Jeff Lorber's new album, Now Is The Time, scheduled to be released on June 1, 2010

  • Pure Bliss, Wish i was there.

  • I was the guy sitttin at the candled table at the bottom left side of the screen watchin Jeff play and roll across that board! Allstars Brian Bromberg and Eric Marienthal with him that show. I saw Eric walking on the street to the show that day, no one around -and he just looked at me like do you know who I am? I was thinkin...yep. You are one of the best musicians in the world. Didn't say a word to him, I just let him have his peace.

  • Thats like something out of a cult film. I can picture it now...you're a lucky man juantruedude... Many Thanks

  • With a name like that I'd like to add you to my friends list.

  • WOW

  • I love this !

  • I like Jeff Lorber. he had several early albums that are great albums.. I think the Rhodes patch isn't as close to the real thing, unfortunately.

  • Grande ritmo

  • This is a hot track. Jeff can really lay it down, and he's a blast to work with. Good stuff!

  • i saw there at this performance. It was indeed real and lorber owns the keyboards.

  • youtube videos often have delays. i've often noticed that. but trust me, this guys the real deal...no programming necessary. he's got some flava

  • I just noticed something. Either there's a delay in the video or there's some pre-programming going on. Watch from 40 seconds on, and espeically at :50. There's some music going on there that's not consistent with what Lorber's doing on the keys. Oh well. Still killer.

  • I'm a keyboard player myself and of course I LOVE Lorber's playing. Just so soulful and groovy. But check out Weckls' playing in the background and his techinque on the high hat and his overall posture on the drums. It's really a sight of perfection.

  • Jeff Lorber has some serious skills, so smooth piano rolls - so groovy

  • Oh man he is so soulful...

    Beautiful, i cant stop watching..

  • I was at one of those shows at Jazz Alley.

    Great! I love Jazz Alley.

I think Jeff did the right thing. He was the head liner, but he brought a band that everyone wanted to see other than just him.

I wanted to see Weckl (drums) but went to a Brian Bromberg show later that year. I'd heard of him but never seen him.

And on the break he was very aproachable and humble.

  • Can anyone recommend some albums full of just funky Rhodes, Wurly etc playing like this and no vocals or anything???

  • every jeff lorber album out there

or brian culbertson but he likes pianos too

  • well news just came out that jeff lorber is recording a new album with the new Rhodes mk7 and most of his stuff from 1981 on back had some funky piano/synth songs on it you should check them out

  • well i will message you if i hear anything else

  • Saxmaster- clue me in as well if you hear anything else about Lorber's new project. Thanks

  • will do if hear anything else

  • if you have more, please post more!!This band is coming to the netherlands and well,i'm from belgium but it wont stop me to see them

  • sorry that's all I got on my little pocketcam. this was one of the best shows I ever seen (and I've seen a lot). hope you have a great time!

  • HA HA!! I was at that show... I was there with my 10-year old daughter for her birthday (she loved it!)

  • great keyboard playing

  • Check out his new album He Had A Hat where he spans many styles of jazz. Smoking keys all over the album.

  • wat do u mean can he still play?? need i remind you guys of the sond that made him famous....SONG BIRD..go watch the video and listen to the last 2 min of that song song and tell me if u think he can play.........

  • oh my dear gods!!!!! i love jeff!!!!! i love kenny too. they both are incredible!

  • Kenny Gorlick (G) played with Jeff for quite a while in the early 80's. I saw them numerous times at Seattle bumbershoot and once at the Showbox in Seattle.

  • I saw them in a country club - shit Kenny G could play back then!!!

  • Who says he can't play now? I mean, all of us Jazz musicians criticize him for his playing. All he does is play what people want to hear! Underneath the Kenny G sound, I bet he's a monster player, but made the decision to make lots of money! Yes we all hate him, and that will never stop. But looks at the guy! Would you say that you wouldn't want to be Kenny G? I bet hes loaded!

  • Actually, i'm sure that he can. It would be very cool if he made a real jazz fusion record just to remind everybody he's still got it

  • what's the name of this song?

  • "Tune 88"

Cool tune, huh. He recorded it on an early album (1979-Water Sign) and I think it has been in his set list ever since.

  • Sure it was, aka Kenny Gorelick back in the day. Yeah for as much flack as Kenny gets for being a square, he can blow.

    Wikipedia

Kenneth Gorelick began his career as a musician when he acquired his first professional job as saxophone soloist for Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra in 1976 at the age of 17. After he graduated from the University of Washington he played with the funk band Cold, Bold & Together before becoming a credited member of The Jeff Lorber Fusion.

  • my teacher told me that but I didn't beleiver him

  • That's why Jeff Lorber is my musical hero. He is so amazing.
