Those of us who listened to these theme songs when they were new back in 1964 are very fortunate.Goldfinger was an awesome movie for it's time! Rest in Peace John Barry.
It was my pipe dream to interview him and sit at a piano with him playing and discussing music...Weirdly...earlier this year I was playing nobody does it better on a piano while a girl sang the song...after the concert this guy comes up and says pity about John Barry passing away...guess you did that as a tribute....My heart sank a thousand miles....
@musicalglenn Sorry, but what has "nobody does it better" got to do with John Barry? That song was a joint collaboration between Marvin Hamlisch, Carol Bayer Sayer and Carly Simon. Great song, but John Barry had nothing to do with it.
A quick message to say thanks for posting this clip of one of our favourite musicians - RIP Mr Barry. Had the pleasure of seeing JB at the Royal Albert Hall in May 1999 with a special young lady. Top concert and she loved every minute (so did I). 20 minutes of Bond and a haunting Out of Africa theme - wonderful. Like many, was sad to hear news earlier this year. Your music will inspire many in future, Mr Barry. God bless you.
I had been capable of getting this working properly through roulettecash!org, I was in fact distrustful at first, yet they permit me use the application for totally free.
At 3:39 The best haunting music i've ever heard i enjoying this music too anyone can tell you by hearing music it is JAMES BOND Music that type of popular as well......
& sad thing is he is no more with us........R.I.P real entertainer......
John Barry - hugely talented and versatile with so many great works under his belt. I always wondered why he was never made a "Sir" - he so deserved it.
A genius of a composer and arranger. James Bond might not have lasted much longer after Connery first left had not the music been so distinctive and iconic. He will truly be missed.
Why would anyone dislike this for Godsakes. The only thing I dislike is that we don't have John barry anymore. I have been in a state of depression since I found out he passed away just a few weeks ago. So, so sad. Rest in Peace John, you will always be an Icon in music.
I would have preferred the electric guitar parts in there... but I don't think it would have mixed well with a live orchestra -- probably why they did not go that way.
John Barry will be remembered for his screen music, one of the great composers of our time. His music creates the atmosphere and splendour of the scene that brought out the grandeur and majesty of it all. Most of all James Bond and John Barry are inseparable
Rest in Peace John Barry Prendergast - you provided us film afficionados a great deal of breathtaking, timeless motion picture scores that shall never be forgotton. Thank you for the emotions and film memories evoked by your works.
sorry to here of his death this morning - over 50 years of composing music that captured the mood & feelings of movies, musicals, tv etc. a very humble, warm & kind man....... we wont see his kind again ........ actually just one other thing is that I am shocked he only won 5 Oscars .... given the breath & depth of his work ....
We lost the great composer John Barry yesterday. I wish he knew his beautiful Dances with Wolves score sustained me when deployed overseas, missing the birth of my youngest son. May he Rest in Peace.
I saw him at the Albert Hall in 1999, he did a night of his music including a Bond section but also Beyondness of Things and guest was Chris Botti the trumpet player they did a section from a score to Playing By Heart (good film) - he was an absolute legend, his music touched so many people's hearts. Rest in peace Mr. Barry.
They should be playing this stuff in schools. Mozart, Beethoven etc has it's place but this would've really got us excited in school orchestra's. Would keep a lot more students interested for longer...............????
The coolest live performance I've heard of the 'James Bond Theme'. Love the drummer's entrance at 4:32! Any idea who the band is? (I see some LSO players dotted around like Nigel Gomm in the trumpets)
Fantastic!! John Barry and the orchestra capture the audience's attention with that so recognizable and stirring music of Bond. Thanks go to Barry and the orchestra, and most certainly to Monty Norman!!
