  • i hate when people are labeled by skin color because in the end we're all still human...

  • @LadyHayGood .... i could not have said it any better. Very informative Liz, much appreciated.

  • She's showing u idiot lowlife losers how to flat iron and all yall can do is sit up and argue about race. How stupid is that? Dont yall have anything better to do?

  • pretty sure i can hear her hair steaming at 0:20.

  • @tisel10 but like i said,if im wrong, dont be ragging on me.and ik what your gonna say,"im not ragging on u." but im js.

  • @tisel10 well in my understanding,i think every black person has SOME african american root.i could be wrong, but thts wht i've heard.

  • i really like this video , but how come african american hair that is so dry n frizzy has become smooth and silky ???? i juss wanna know how d du change it like that ??? is it chemically straightened or what ?? thnku

  • @TimKd1 Its usually chemically straightened but that is not very healthy for your hair but we do it cause its easy. So some people choose to have natural or are you say "frizzy" hair and choose to wear it that way or they will only use heat to straighten their hair.

  • you are a life saver my flat iron can go up to 420 degrees and i always put it on high so that i could get the curl out of my hair and i pressed really hard but once i put the heat down a bit and stopped pressing so hard i feel like i could compare my hair to whites :) thanks alot

  • Not that I want to be negative, but if the hair is already relaxed then it's pretty much the same as flat ironing straight hair with almost any ethnicity. right?

  • @CafeLeigh Nope. Perming takes the kink out of my hair, but it's very fluffy and wild until I flat iron it.

  • What was the point of this video?

How to flat iron relaxed hair?

    She gave no serious info...

Just waisted 1:11 minutes of my life.

  • i hate when all black people are referred to as african americans

  • @Chacha5678 every black person is african american u kno

  • @heelylover117 i hope that is sarcasm

  • @heelylover117 African-American is Black. You're correct. All black people were originally brought from Africa to America that's why they're considered African American. Black is not an Ethnicity, it's a name of a color.

  • @mizzmoda everybody must be black cause humans came from africa

  • @heelylover117 What about british africans.....your not very smart

  • @Chacha5678 yeaa thats because thats wat we are people from Africa in america!!!!

  • @et2raw4u no, black people born in america are african american. but the majority of blacks don't even live in in america

  • expertvillage is a bunch of BS.....A complete joke, half the ppl in these vids no nothing of what they are doing or talking about.....listen to the way it's being explained......LMAO! and so, that is how you do it....hehe!

  • jet black hair is gorgeous :)

  • I have a good ass job with my afro.I got the job because I know how to do the work and Im damn good at it.Black women who don't relax their hair can get a job just as quickly as the woman who does.

  • Black women: Stop being in denial. Your hair is not that of a mixed or latina person. It is nappy and needs lots of chemicals to take care of it. It makes you all look quite pathetic and stupid to think that you can style your hair like a mixed person. I laugh at your ignorance. Just relax it and move on. This is why your people are incredibly broken.

  • Actually, person that commented, we wanna c african american hair, and not everybody have nice hair thank you very much. Cuz some people, not all, have hard 2 manage hair and it's real thick, n its real hard 2 do. Ask my sis; we try 2 flat iron her hair but its really hard cuz its so thick n we looked up this video hopin 2 c how we can try 2 do her hair.

  • Actually, person that commented b4 me, we wanna c african american hair, and not everybody have nice hair thank you very much. Cuz some people, not all, have hard 2 manage hair and it's real thick, n its real hard 2 do. Ask my sis; we try 2 flat iron her hair but its really hard cuz its so thick n we looked up this video hopin 2 c how we can try 2 do her hair.

  • There is not such thing as bad grade of hair. The only way hair can be bad is if it's unhealthy. Straight hair doesn't mean good hair! Our hair is the most versatile! We dont need rollers to curl it. We don't need to wash every day to remove all the excess oils. Our hair is the only grade that can hold a braid without ripping rubberbands through it! Our hair is unique, who else can make a fro? yes, our hair tends to be a little on the dry side, but that doesnt mean its not good hair. Get smart!

  • I love African American hair actually. And like all of my friends are black so back off racists. African Americans are the bomb diggity. (:

  • u didn't have to call me an idiot. That is rather insulting. I will refrain from responding harshly.

I agree with you totally because everyone needs to celebrate what they are . I am mixed and Proud. Thank you

  • @Barfetta3000 NO...ALL black people do not need relaxers to tame the naps. I'm all black and I don't need a relaxer...I can use a flat iron to straighten my hair and wrap it and it looks just like I have relaxed hair. Same goes for many other black women. Some of them don't even have to use heat, their curls are beautiful enough...And there are some who embrace their naturally nappy hair...so I disagree with you saying all black women need perms...

  • OMG!! that old flat iron is like 100000000 years old, in the stove?? o.0

  • There was no point whatsoever for posting this video.. It was not informative at all and a waste of who ever put this damn thing up time...Lawd

  • By the way people, they put " African-American Hair" because they don't wanna offend black people (like me) and say " How to Flat Iron Black Hair" just clearing that up :p

  • that wasnt african american hair. or maybe it was but then it was already straightened.

  • these people dont know how to do hair.

  • Why is she talking soft and quitwhen it came to talking about Black hair?

  • i dont know how you can flat iron black people hair , with my hair i use a pressing comb to straighten my nappy hair =D

  • i can't understand why you say african american hair... i'm african and i got the same hair, and i'm not american... why don't you call African hair???

  • the 1st mistake i saw here was that the stylist did not use any heat protectant on hair before applying heat. 2nd the stylist made 2 passes at the roots, then 3 passes along the length of the hair. this is too much, and the number of passes through the hair should be reduced, just as she mentions that the tension with the iron should be reduced. also, i don't think ANY african american should use marcels on their hair. the heat is too severe and drying. but, that is my personal opinion.

  • I have a question. I have bi-racial hair. It's the only thing I can compare it too. It's really curly and thick! plus dry. I've never straighten it or put anything in it other than shampoo/conditioner. I want to straighten it but my mom thinks if I will i will never get my curls back ever again. :/ Some one care to share some info on straightening it ?

  • @kookooacho Your hair will most definatly go back to the curls after you've staigtened it. Since your hair naturally grows curly, i will continue to do that (unless you ue chemicals). ACTUALLY, you can straighten your hair and revert back to your natural curls in one day if you wanted to. All it takes is a quick wash after you straighten your hair. Hope this helps hun

  • @vikinglady09

Hmm, thank you. lol. Will straighten do damage though? or does that take years of straightening??? I'm such a noob when it comes to this stuff.

  • @kookooacho Well damage can happen ANYTIME if you dot propely protect your hair. They have products that protect your hair against the heat such as oil sheen (Thats what I use) I would not recommend flat ironing every day unless you are just doing sall touch ups (Ends, or bangs) This will cause your hair ends to split quickly and it can possibly make your hair break off (fall out). I flt iron my hair once every week because I have very THICK and straigt hair so doing any more would ruin my hair

  • @vikinglady09 Okay, so as long as I use heat protecting stuff and really care for my hair when it's natural it's all good..? :) I don't plan on straightening my hair any less than three weeks apart. But I don't own a flat iron now, is it possible to straighten your hair blow drying it?

  • @kookooacho very possible. Al you need is a wide comb or brush and comb as you dry (Slowly)

  • @vikinglady09

Hm, :) I will try that maybe today or tomorrow.

  • Hey, I'm half black half white. Yes you can straighten your hair, but chances are the straightener will never get it straight. It's always going to stay curly. that's because if you have hair like mine then your hair is mixed. african american hair is different than white hair and they need two completely different products, so like me, you're going to have a frustrating time and the curls will probably always be there.

  • Hm, thank you.

  • Have you tried blow drying it out then flat ironing it? cuz i'm black nd i have to blow dry it before i can flat iron and it's gets really straight and i dont have a relaxer.

  • yeah, blow drying it out even with all the nice hair products in it, still seems to make it poofier than if I just flat iron it. Not to mention I'm tender-headed, so I have no fond memories of blow-drying my hair through a round brush or fine tooth comb.

  • @xXull But you don't have african american hair. Its mixed and beautiful and desired by all black women.

  • African American People Can't Wash Their Hair Everyday Because Our Hair Dries VERY Easily And Even Though You're Washing It, You're Also Making It Dryer.

I Was My Hair Usually Every Other Day.

  • African American hair, black hair...wat does it matter? I swear people get caught up with the stupidest things. It's really not that big of a deal. We all know what she meant... Thnx eHow!

  • Comment removed

  • @JaslenaLove Or your taking it to serious.

Yes, African american have different hair types but it is not like white folks. ... It's not like she said "nigga" hair. I mean common.

  • @JaslenaLove african americans have to flat iron their hair differently than others so thats why she made this vid and entitled it as such

  • @Jaslena, how could you be so naive? There are many different races of white people, just like there are many different races of black people. For example, Nigerians and Ethiopians are dramatically different.

  • Sorry i got all these people mad but when i commented i was kiddinq stop being such freaking know-it-all's i don't even care anymore Blah Blah Blah i dont take this video seriously*__*

  • @xXull ummm.....i thought nigerians just like jamicans are just blacks from different countries and it doesn't change the fact their black. Considering the whites and blacks live around the world in different countries they are still white/black and just classified by nationality.

  • @fanoffame17 Much like take 'white' for example, that can mean Irish or Italian, but both have entirely different bone structure in the face, different proportions, and more relevantly, different hair types.

The same stands for say in comparison to Nigerians and Ethiopians, which was why the comparison in the first place. They both may be "black" but the shape of the face, the body proportions, and back to the point at hand-- the hair types.

  • @xXull alright i get what your saying now.

  • @fanoffame17 lol, no hun that is not true. Jcan motto - out of many one people. We have africans, indians, whites, chinese and whites. I am black but I am not. I am mixed...which is still black. I am mixed with indian, white, chinese and african. I dont look like some one from nigeria but i am black with curly hair. Just like whites...diff hair textures, skin tones etc. Dont know much about nigeria, lol b

  • @superblessed100 um...lol you probably look like plenty of people in nigerians...lol and FYI more than half of al nigerians have some caucasian, ancestry...just saying

  • @superblessed100 Your an idiot. You are part indian, white, and chinese yet you call yourself black? Why do you hate yourself so much? You are MIXED. Be proud of that. Screw the racist lies that people use in this country. Dont cater to bigoted whores that tell you otherwise. You cannot change being MIXED> You are mixed no matter what anyone says and its wonderful!

  • ...but all black people aren't

'african-american" Why not just describe the hair texture instead?

  • yeah...i agree with you there

  • @mcken32 not every "African American" has the same type of hair and you are right not every "black" person is African American. I personally have curly hair and do not require a relaxer and have to wash my hair very often because if I wait to long my hair will not grow and will start to get dry and flaky (yes I use grease and other products but when my hair gets dirty it tends to just sit on the ends of my head). So I would prefer if they said the hair texture also.

  • @mcken32 You are an idiot. So there are black chinese people? That makes zero sense. YOu are either BLACK or NOT. Get it through your head moron.

  • @Barfetta3000 shut the FUCK UP....ur question does not deserve an answer and that's the end of that!

  • i personally think any hair looks good if you just take care of it.i got a instylerand is sooo worth it but i got mine off ebay for $50 . just put in item # 200417087931 in the ebay search. it is the cheapest price i seen

  • i was thinking about getting one, but my hair is natural and im not sure if i would be wasting my money if i bought one.

  • why not just say how to flat iron black people's hair... ?

  • believe it or not some Black people get offended when you call them black

  • stupid of them.

  • @marinewifey25 Thats because they have so many hang ups its rediculous. They need to get over themselves because the rest of the world hates them regardless of what they call themselves.

  • This girls hair looks like it was straightened before the video even started... Thanx for the attempt to help but it didnt really help at all

  • This dosen't show how to flat iron natural kinky hair

  • @niaZomba All black women that are 100% black need to have relaxers to tame the naps. That is just the facts. If you are mixed, then you have better quality hair.

  • @Barfetta3000

Not true... I don't have a relaxer and my hair is nappy and curly and very thick, long, and healthy. All hair is good hair regardless of the texture or chemical treatment if it's healthy and you take care of it.

  • @Barfetta3000 i know your getting allot of comments already but you are wrong im 100% black and my hair is soft and gets bone straight with a flat iron actually perms are what messes up black hair!

  • @irockz6 YES, you yourself ADMIT that you need to straighten it to do anything worthwhile with it! Try getting a job with an afro. Its disgusting and NO ONE the world over likes it.

  • @Barfetta3000 I didnt admit anything black hair is versatile and we can do whatever we want with it.My aunt works for the government and she rocks her afro 24/7

  • @Barfetta3000 im 100 % black. iv never had a relaxer, and my hair isnt nappy. its soft, with pretty curls, and easy to manage. how small your world must be if you only believe one thing. learn your facts before sounding like a total retard on the computer. i wish you luck.

  • @jillstillrules169 Yeah right.... Don't lie. I was not born yesterday sweetheart. I have lived in many places and I can tell you that we have all seen your type of hair and it is NOT soft pretty curls. DO you think we are all stupid? Walk down any street and you see they all have nappy dry brittle hair. The ugly attitude doesn't help either. There is a reason why you are 80% single.

  • @Barfetta3000 dont call me sweetheart, you useless piece of shit.

youve NEVER seen me before, so how the hell do you know what my hair looks like?

i take care of my hair, FYI.

and i dont have an attitude either.

for you to assume one race acts the same just shows me how stupid and ignorant you really are.

maybe if you got off your fat ass, and actually went out to meet people, you could see how many people are very kind and friendly.

    enjoy being alone and racist.

  • @Barfetta3000 what race are you? I seen your pic you dont look 100% white. btw dont make comments about race or hair. Nobody wants to read that we just wanna watch the the tutor video.

  • they got ads now???

  • really , it doesnt matter wat race you are . everybody has really nice hair.

  • yeah right have u seen everybody? i didnt think so!

  • @jaskiki08 yea its true im 13 and i had a perm for 2 years and now i want

my NATURAL HAIR BACK!!!!!!so im gonna chop it all off then start natural again and HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO HAVE THE STRAIGHT LOOK!! its not that its good or bad hair.. its just different texture and thickness..

  • @lexibaby444 im actually mixed with curly hair , i just relax it . and im 14 . and i undertand completely ! i hate hearing ppl complain about their hair , when they have beautiful hair . EMBRACE IT ! =) but i think your just gonna have to blowdry it and then flat iron it , just not too much .

  • @jaskiki08 Yea!! im already thinking of cute everyday hairstyles so i dont get heat damage if i flatten it to much!! i actually forgot my hair texture.. i just know its VERY CURLY!!

  • @jaskiki08 Actually some people do have nasty flat hair. Some have nasty pubic like hair. Quit being so naive.

  • @Barfetta3000 this is on jaskiki08 on a diff account . i wanna see your hair . filthy , disGUSTING mabye? my hair is pubic ? and mabye since your so miserable & think that way keep to own damn self . dont bring everybody down with you . & where does your come in huh ? no videos showing it ? EXACTLY , so stfu until you have a video to show forth . goodbye , w. you & your behind the computer self . im 15 & your telling me i gotta put some sense in to you ? pshh pathetic .

  • @jaskiki08 thats not the point the point is we cant flat iron our hair like whites its not as easy

  • There is a must read book for the hairstylist coming out of school called "From the bowl to the chair" a must read for 9.95

  • ....So if you don't want to put the iron the hottest setting...how hot should you set the iron?

  • im from hollywood (:

    954bbyyy !

  • What kind of flat iron is that she's using?

  • FHI

  • EGH! I hate these retarded videos. And I don't have a relaxer either, but if you blow dry your hair, you can flat iron it.

  • OMG!!! Imagine my hair was like that , I would die. I take 10 minutes to do my hair and I wash it every 3rd day with sahmpoo only.

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!!

  • 'O.o.... thats what i do.. wash it every night.. my hair is really curley and frizzy, i wash it at night, flat iron it in the morning once, then hairy spray it, wait about 15 minutes, flatiron it again and then it's perfect :o

  • you dont really need to wash your hair every night, i mean you can go 1 day without washing ur hair its not disgusting

  • true.. but then again, i sweat easily and smell bad so i half to shower anyways xD

  • Comment removed

  • if anyone knows that type of flat iron that is

    please please please

    let me know

just leave a comment on my page

    or message me =D

    thanks

  • That girl needs a slight hair clip at the ends because a curl stays much better when the ends are barely clipped...just barely. THERE'S NOT NEED TO CUT THE HAIR BUT clip it to enhance and HOLD the curl.

  • ghvb

  • correction: how to flat iron RELAXED african american hair.

  • im african american and thats correct. my hair is not relaxed. i cant do that with my hair.

  • @oanunkor i totally agree! u kno tht grl had a perm! becuz i just took out my braids nd im lookin @ TRUE african american hair!

  • @oanunkor LOL!!!

  • @oanunkor yeah you got that rite, cuz i just finished doing my hair, *unrelaxed* and them curls and waves is hard to fight!

  • haha i have that same exact flat iron. (the plug in one)

  • whats the name of it!

i need to get one for my sis bad.

  • DAMN it does look like its already been done.i luv ur accent gurlie.

  • Could you please made a video that goes into more detail?

  • That hair has already been straightned and shit. i wanted to see natuarl african american hair. NATURAL!!!

video didnt help ant all what so ever

  • 4 real. if u have a "GOOD" perm u wouldn't need to flat iron it. DUH LOL

  • Yall got me over here cracking up! But its true it looks like she just got a "GOOD" perm.

  • daNMMM riight lol

  • @marissaparker58 my sentiments exactly. such a shame what we africans alow people to degrade us too. its like being african does not even have its own identity that we can see a bloody video of our real hair. this is an insult!!!

  • lol expert village,WHERE do you get these people

  • that hair was all silky b4 she even flat ironed it lol i wanted 2 c some nappy, bushy, dry or brittle hair or something haha

  • That looks like a bad weave/wig...I thought this video was about flat ironing natural hair to straight.

  • yeah im with you the title is deceiving because you would think if a video on african american hair it would most likely be in its natural state because if chemcalized or weave would be like doing a non african american hair!

  • Good videos. You kind of look like Jada Pickett.

  • she straightened that first one strand too many times

  • Haha Yay ! If I could I would make another video on doing hair but I dont even do hair myself...

  • lmao i was thinking the same thing. her hair has already been straightened lol

  • . my hairs really annoyinggg it goes frizzy reallyy quicklyy

even though i got it relaxedd

    :(

  • yea my hair gets dry when i put a lot of heay on it

  • i only flat iron about three times a week or less and my stays straight until the next week

    (:

  • hmm..i will most definately take this into consideration!

  • "not too much heat"

thats why you used 450 degress on your own hair in the other videos.

  • yeah yeah yeah whatever really!

  • "expert" village?

    whatever....

  • i hate expert village

  • me 2

  • It's called a relaxer. It's usually around the hair dye in the aisle. I use Supreme. It keeps my hair straight for eva! haha. Seriously, though

  • Does price matter on the quality of flat irons? I know the more expensive ones get really hot...

  • I don't think price matters.

It depends on the size. The really small ones 1 inch ones really work. They don't tear your hair. My flat iron, I bought from Walgreens for 20 or 30 dollars and they were great

  • Thanks for that. Cause I've seen some for as much as $300, and I can't imagine who needs a $300 flat iron.

  • Yeah, haha $300 is too much. I bought those flat irons like 5 months ago and they still work perfect.

  • Price matters because some irons are pure ceramic thru and thru and some are just coated with ceramic. Those that are coated are cheaper and do not perform as well as the pricier irons.

  • Oh I didn't know.

Haha, Its just I can't afford the more pricier ones and I go for the ones that does cost 20-30 dollars and they still does good with my hair.

  • I hear you on that, but be careful to see if it's coated b/c the coating can wear off and the iron will not do what it's suppose to do. Good luck :)

  • Okay, I really don't know too much about hair, [technically I was raised to not relax my hair or do any of that] I wasn't even taught to wear make-up! So what happens if the coating is off the flat irons? How much damage can that do to your hair?

  • Anybody heard of Brazilian hair Straightening? I just read about it and theres a video here on youtube about it. its also on the internet. african americans can do it too. I hope some black person does a video on it.

  • Does anyone know how Beyonce or Opra straighten their hair? It looks so natural. Is it a wig?

  • beyonce has a lace wig i dnt noe bout oprah tho

  • Both Oprah and Beyonce use hair accessories. Beyonce's mother is also a hairdresser, and she uses lot sof lace front wigs. Oprah has spoken many times about using extensions, and Andre Walker does her natural hair. She does use relaxers, and according to her, washes her hair every other day. I suppose that's viable if you have a professional hairdresser on staff, but most of us would have trouble there.

  • well my moms white and my dads black so i dont know if the same rules apply for me but i think i have the same straightner.

and geez i use over 380 degrees on my hairwith no heat protectant, i must get some.

  • You still need to protect your hair from heat regardless of race.

  • that is a lot of passes on the one little section. . . I don't think anyone needs to know how to actually FLAT IRON the hair. . . they more need to know how to protect the hair from the intense heat. and again NO heat protectant or mention of it. . .

  • I have a question (:

i live in belgium , & we don't have many shops who hace products for african hair

but i know in america , that you have products that make you're hair straight & then you can flat iron it, but when you're hair get wet , you're hair is still flat

can you give me some names of these products please ?

    thankyouu !

    xx

  • Look for box relaxers (no lye). They are cheap and easy to use at home, just MAKE SURE THAT YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! If used improperly you could chemically burn your scalp, and your hair will fall out. Relaxers chemically straighten the roots of the hair so that it stays straight, even wet. A few names I've used are Olive Oil, TCB Naturals, and Soft & Beautiful. If you've got soft fragile hair, get a mild relaxer. You probably should ask a hair stylist before you use it so you don't mess up. =0)

  • i live in belgium too, there's tons of stores that sell good relaxers, even kruidvat!

    where you from?

  • Shebababy1 I know for sure you have to use a protective type of lotion or grease before flat ironing permed hair to avoid breakage and splitting from the heat. That's why I avoid heat after touch ups.

  • what iron are you using ....i am black cAN I GET high lights ,,,what can i do to stop the breaking off if i do get high lights

  • the models hair looks over processed..

  • where are you located?

  • I HAVE A QUESTION...Do you think putting moisturizing lotion (no particular kind) on hair before flatironing is good??

  • you should ALWAYS use some kind of heat protectant before you heat style... right now I'm using Redken Extreme Iron Repair.

  • u can but i wudnt use it cuz its much more easier to put too much product on. instead try a heat protectant spray, flat ironing cream or serum. i love serum - a little goes a long way and it just equals SHINE. too much serum makes hair greasy though so beware.

  • No way!! I used to do that all up until now, because 1, the lotion is kind of still wet in your hair and has potential to burn your hair rather than protect it. Not good. And 2 serum is WAY better because it does the job, doesnt burn your hair, and gives you just the right amount of shine, not too greasy or dry :) Heat protectant spray is great too, because it really does protect, but serum, like biosilk or CHI infusion, is way better. I own the serum, the spray and lotions, so i know!!
