Chubby Checker Does The Twist!

Is there any doubt? Chubby can do ANYTHING! 70 going on 35. He looks and sounds absolutely terriffic! I was about 4 when the Twist came out, so I didn't really become a fan until the early 70's when he did that commercial for the four album oldies set.

Since then, I've been into everything he's done. HAIL THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL...And...Let's Twist Again Like We Did Last Summer" babies!

@2016don i, personally, am not listening to the notes. the notes a singer is singing dont matter as much as the lyrics. if thats wat ur talking about wen u say u dont like this one. the lyrics mean (or shud mean) a lot more than the notes someone is singing. at first, i was kinda skeptical of this new one, but i stopped myself and listened to the words he was saying. and i like it. u dont, and thats u.

This is a video of a nearly-70 year old man performing his "new" song, which itself sounds right out of the 1980's, and the lyrics of which awkwardly combine concepts like "tender parts" and "the father of lies" with no irony. A singer name Hank Ballard of Hank Ballard and the Mdiniters wrote and recorded the twist first. If you listen to his version, Chubby sang it just about note for note. Both had similiar voices. Because of the politics in those days Hank Ballard's version did not do much; maybe the timing was wrong. Chubby picked it up later, and the song took off with the involvement of Dick Clark (politics) from my research. I belive Hank sung the song in 1958 or 59.

@ekocentric in 1959 chubby put out the song the twist which started a brand new dancing era, but didnt take full hold till about 1960 1961 the joey dee and many other people such as dion, bobby vee, the beatles and others started to put out songs from 1961 to about 1968 when the twist and swing dance movement started in the 50's finally died.

@ekocentric if you really wanna know more about chubby and the early 60's dances, chubby started another dance craze in 1960 after he put out the song pony time, and u pretty much galloped like a horse the whole time lol, i remember at my school dance the women would put their hand on the guys shoulder and pony, while the guy ponied & waved his arm like a lasso in his hand and you would almost give a gesture like u threw the rope and that was signal to switch partners with the couple next to you
