  • oooooooooohhh boy i love this!!! youare sooo wonderful my love to post this!! Coudl i love her voice! She is my idol!!! youare the bomb!

  • This is all very well, but what sets Anita Bakers voice apart is her depth of tone , phrasing and the way she articulates. She only needs one note and you KNOW it's her!

    thank u

  • @raveoni926 so it took so long lol....

  • what's the opening song?

  • what's the opening song?

  • I really love Anita Baker and that will be forever!

  • Your video is one the most amazing note-by-note descriptions I've seen , thank you for making it and uploading it. Out of all contemporary contraltos: Toni Braxton, Sade, Cher, etc., Anita is my favorite!, and from the past: Sarah Vaughn!

  • @ursus15g mariah's not a contralto.

  • @TheCmelmoneyman Yes Mariah is a contralo. Just because she has the ability to sing in whistle register doesn't mean a thing, she is a true contralo.

  • @TheQueenAretha Wrong, Mariah is a mezzo-soprano singer.

  • @Rookerman32 No Mariah is an contralo.

  • @TheQueenAretha Mariah Carey is a mezzo-soprano, you coon.

  • @Rookerman32 No Mariah is a contralto with a wide range.

  • @TheQueenAretha Do you even know what a contralto singer is? Most of Mariah Carey's vocals are mezzo-soprano notations, with her head voice having soprano notations, with most of it being the C6 notation.

  • @Rookerman32 Her timbre is what makes her a contralto. It doesn't have to do with how high she can go.

  • @TheQueenAretha Go away.

  • @Rookerman32 Actually, TheQueenAretha is right. Mariah is in fact, a spinto lyric contralto with an amazing vocal range.

  • @TheQueenAretha Chaka Khan has better songs than Aretha Franklin.

  • @Rookerman32 Where the hell did that come from! And no Chaka doesn't.

  • Nice...but those notes at the end are HEAD VOICE, not falsetto.

  • @TruthSerum101 hence at the end Falsetto/Head Voice....

  • she sounds like patty labelle a little bit on the belting notes.

  • @ursus15g Mariah and Anita..

  • @ursus15g How do they have the exact same range? It is miles different LMAO EPIC FAIL

  • her vocals are heavier than most singers...she is a real contralto....

  • aren't the notes at the end head voice notes?

  • Now...when it comes to lower ranger...NO ONE!!!!!! Including my FAV. (Chaka Khan) can TOUCH!!! Anita Baker in that low...That's her talent and GIFT!!!

  • @comeon6 well anita's voice is darker than Chaka's

  • @TheCmelmoneyman Yes they are!!!

  • if you love anita's lows you've got 2 hear Sarah Vaughan's

  • @TheCmelmoneyman... Yea besides Anita, Sade and Toni. Sarah is one of my fav contraltos. Her lower register is bananas.

  • @comeon6 Goapele has the best soprano vocals amongst black female recording artists.

  • @comeon6 No..chaka goes lower..but alot. But anita's resonance wins out!!

  • @comeon6 No..chaka goes lower..but alot. But anita's resonance wins out!!

  • She can definitely go in the 2nd octave, those 3rd octave notes were just too effortless

  • @WestVoice i agree

  • simply the BEST..my all-time favorite!

  • Absolutely Luvs her!!!! She is one of the best contraltos IMO...

  • Anita's voice has so much soul..so much power...passion...sensuality. Mariah can't hold a candle to Ms. Baker!

  • She clearly couldn't belt a D6 but a Bb5 is extremely impressive, especially for a contralto and yes anita has a wide crazy range. i'm more surprised that she hasn't gone lower tho

  • srry to be a bother again

but at is the song that is playing at the beinginng

and wat is the song that is playing @ 2:52 Eb5

  • Its called "Just because", One of my faves BTW :)

  • what are all the songs she sings for c5 ?

  • No One in the World

  • wat is the f3 song

  • Good Love

  • I haven't either.

  • Mariah says she has a five-octave alto range. I think Anita has a four-octave capabilities.

  • Antita is a true Contralto and she can sing up to D6 not Bflat 5.

  • Thank you for posting this. This is correct. I don't know why most people will say

bb5, as contraltos normally have wide ranges.

  • where is D6?

  • Ok what song does she sing this D6... bcuz when i made this video i listened to all her studio albums and i didnt hear a

    D6

  • @burgerz28 I doubt that..maybe B5!!

  • phenominal vocalist. one of the only true soul artist who can improvise in jazz.

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING IT =]

  • welcome :o)

  • AWW I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS A WHILE BACK.

  • I like the tone of her voice.

  • raveoni926, I have noticed that you do research on the underrated singers. Here are some more... Dawn Robinson, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, LaToya London, LaShun, The Sheards, Yolanda Adams, Michelle Williams, Tiffany Evans. You know, people among that particular nature.

  • Yolanda adams is far from underrated

  • Thanks again RAVEONI926

  • welcome!

    don't forget to subscribe!!!!

  • raveoni926, I'm curious...Whao are you gonna research next.

  • at the very beginning of D5

  • The song is called "More Than You Know"

  • Raveon this is brilliantly put together ...... whats is anita singing at D5

  • Good video.

  • thanks!

  • Welcome, I think Anita's a little underrated. I guess her tone is one of those you like or hate.

  • Where is that chest Bb5 from?

  • The song is called No More Tears

  • one of the best singers to grace us the thing with Anita she is better live than cd the woman could sing the phone book

  • Anita is AMAZING. Just awesome, what a beautiful rich silky voice she has and she is great at improvisations, just brilliant. One of the BEST

  • wow

    how many octaves

  • LOVE HER!!!!

  • She really has got a weird timbre.

  • weird in a great way.lol..

  • Yes.

  • When Anita came out she by far had the most distinctive voice in Black music since Chaka Khan. She sent the record industry on a mad rush to find copy cats LOL such was her greatness and none could come close to her acclaim or success. I fell in love with her after hearing her sing "I Just Want To Be Your Girl". Sublime.

  • Nicely done.....

  • Great clip - OUTSTANDING job!

  • thanks!

  • i love the introductory music in this clip..really reflects Anita's soulful elegance!

  • thanks i thought i was a good choice also... the song name is Movies by Ashanti...

  • lol. yeah that's ashanti's "movies"

  • i love it!!!!

  • Amazing

  • Yes, Drich18...She is a Contralto.

  • The person on the video already wrote she's a contralto in the description. So, why'd you said that again (???)

  • Oh my mistake. I'm agreeing wih you.

  • oh... ok

  • A year ago, I made the mistake of calling her a Mezzo-Soprano. I prefer her middle and low register. There is not much tessitura and weight in the top, so she cannot be one. Now that I'm educated better, I can call her a Contralto.

  • Ok, yeah. I thou prefer both her lower register, and chest register.

  • Anita is the stuff. I love her voice. Many forget about her. But don't be fooled she is great.

  • ohhh..i absolutely love Anita Baker...velvety smooth alto vocals!! and she's one of the best vocal stylist and very skillful at vocal improvisation too!

  • She's incredible. Her belts are like diamonds, simply precious, and untouched. I mean she has nearly 3 octaves in full voice, she's amazing. Her tone is just golden, so pure, makes you feel so alive, and soothing. I can't get over how amazing her belts are. She's an incredible vocalist. Who knew a Contralto could belt that high, and the belts are so dang strong at that.

  • yes i totally agree!!!

  • Yup ^_^. Thanx for doing the vid

  • welcome!!

  • Yeah, I remember hearing that Bb5 a while back and being so amazed because she IS A CONTRALTO it was sustained with vibrato and so powerful. She really is amazing. Great singer in more ways then 1 definately

  • Exactly. I remember hearing her on the smooth jams, and old school radio stations when I was younger with my grandma. And just zoning out to her music, and vocals. She's truly incredible.

  • Yep, me too.
