Soooo, what you do is to set the Flymentor to manual mode (red light), adjust subtrims to it hovers right and then switch on the Flymentor to positioning/balancing-mode?
Hi... The video is excellent! But could someone PLEASE explain what is actually happening with the values when switching from "position-balance-off" particularly with the newer switch setup suggestion (top most post) I'm not understanding how the ELE D/R switch is cancelling gyro values..I will make a video, so all us noobs have a simple and clear answer....I guess people like me need to see whats happening to learn.
HI Im trying to setup my Flymentor on Align 450SE with DX6i radio, my problem is that all the servos are not working right for example if i throttle up the servos are not lifting equally or if i move forward the servo is not tilting the swash plateforward, how do you setup on the Radio. Please help i cant figure out how to setup DXi6 rado for fly mentor and which servos to reverse etc in the programe.
This is a very strange way to set up Flymentor. All you need to do is set gyro position 0 to the balance mode gain, gryo 1 to the position mode gain. Then set MIX one to -100% in both directions with the other paramers as in video. The gyro switch up is then balance, down is position. The second switch simply turns the sytsem off when you put it in the down position.
This also makes it clear what the sensitivities are [remember 50% is zero! just like many gyros - see manual]
@arbien3 Agreed... you re 100% correct, I was following some one elses post regarding the settings back when I made this video and I thought there has to be an easier way but none the less I set it up per their settings, however setting up a few since then I changed it to your way so that the second switch cancels out any % but havent updated the video, when I realised this I was thinking to myself how could I have missed such an obvious thing...Maybe because I myself didnt have a flymentor then
Hi, could explain the setup of the dx6I for flymentor in a bit more detail please? Maybe a video of it actually being setup on the dx6i would help us newbies?
If not some more detailed instructions would be good.
Hi, can you give a detailed description of your dx6i setup for the switches. this will help us newbies with flymentor mode change as you outlined above.

Just an approach I used... instead of the added weight of the spirit levels, you can just build a light, portable take-off platform--someting just slightly bigger than the Landing Gear--with spirit levels built into the platform.
@marbella595 dont connect green wire, connect blue instead to your gear slot in RX this will let you program mix 1 and mix 2 with your balance mode on off and postion mode on off to your choice of switch on your RX
I have got a flymetor and I haven't been able to configure it properly. I couldn't asign the swash chanel in order to respond to the stick movements. the manual is not clear when refers the conection betwen the reciver to flymentor main unit. My radio is a turnigy9x with a x8j assan module and the reciver is a 7 ch assan too. cloud you help me? Best regards
@1picmaster first reverse the servos so that in balance mode the swash responds automaticly the right way - THEN worry about stick movement reversals to correct any incorrect movement, can be confusing, best way i found is to only reverse 1 servo or stick movement at once, that way it is not so confusing, took me 3 hrs to set all pre flight setup, need to adjust yet but the main setup is done
Hello from Brazil! I have a company that makes aereal photografies and today I am using a T-REX 450 V3 to fly with a cam and make photos. I am really interesting in buy a Flymentor system, but my doubt is: Flymentor can stabilizer the helicopter in hight altitudes (like 20 - 30 meters from the ground)???
Balance mode works well for photography, I use it for my FPV setup, fit hold the balance of the helicopter, you still need to control it but gusts of wind are counteracted by the flymentor, I hope to have some video footage soon to put up so people can see. Soon I may even place my camera on the heli and take photos as well.
Rodrigo, acho que e possivel sim, ele pode ser progamado uma altura maxima e outra minima no progama que vem junto com ele, so passar para o receptor esses dados... comprei um desses parece que realmente fuciona
In the t6config.exe application set the type to 90 and even out or zero out all the other settings for that type EXCEPT for throttle curve, pitch curve and your switch and pot mixes.
After that do the reversing, swash leveling inside of FlyMentors set up app
I think i have a problem with my Flymentor. It looks that i can change any settings in the unit. Software is installed and power is on, put there is no reaction when canging settings, dont know why.
Hi, almost finished the setup but have a slight problem you may be able to help me with. When I tilt the heli to the left or right the flymentor is moving the aileron in the same direction instead of counteracting the shift. Do you know how I can reverse this. Forward, reverse tilt and gyro appears to be working fine. I have also noted that the response times to the heli move is not very quick.
@paul0z i had same problem, solved it, many ppl advise the wrong servo setup, i simply swaped the aileron and pitch servo plugs into flymentor, had to refiddle with reversals again but now corrects right way left and right, hope this helps
Yes it will work with the 500 as well, it takes a little effort to set it up, but it is worth the effort, my friend flies his 450 helicopter and he has never flown a helicopter before. You must take your time setting it up, dont rush to set it, make sure everything is correct before flying, and you will be fine.
And im trying to set the flymentor but it seems that the TX/RX that came with the rtf version, CX-CT6A, doesn't have an option for removing the mixing from the TX.

Using the DX6i transmitter mixes to give 3 different Channel 5 values is brilliant. I had not thought of that. Something to do tonight. :)
My only issue is I have swapped the wires on my 6i so that the ele DR switch is now the flight mode switch, and vice versa.

Hi, one thing was not clear to me, should the PC software setup be at the default calibration ? Tks.
raffik1000 2 years ago
when you control it from the radio (like I have) you need to set the software to "0" ie: not position mode and not balance mode

Reverse the settings in the radio, then reverse the channel in control
Everything should then be going the right way

Good Job .. Very neat rig
I have the same heli CopterX 450 AE V2
And im trying to set the flymentor but it seems that the TX/RX that came with the rtf version, CX-CT6A, doesn't have an option for removing the mixing from the TX.
What RX/TX combination would you recommend ?
TheMEPEH 2 years ago
If you can afford the Dx7 buy it, if not the Dx6i (please not the letter (i) at the end) as these are both good radios.
But is the CX-CT6A a computer radio if so does it have option for setting 1 servo 90deg ? if so then this is fine
