  • i want to thank my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Peters who was also like a mother to me when my parents got divorced (given this was a small christian town where divorced werent prevalent). you were my light and my inspiration! Mrs Peters died 2 years ago from a rare condition known as Pick's Disease (a lot like Alzheimer's)... I love you and you will forever be the strength in my life!!!

  • Thanks Mrs.Carlson I miss you.

  • thanks ms. jepsen

  • Thanks .mrs a coxs

  • Thank you mrs. Burke!!

  • Only remember one elementary teacher Mrs. Jones from Lincoln elementary.

  • I guess I'll post my thanks here:

Thank you, Miss Sue Gilbert, my 2nd grade teacher. You were the one teacher who stood out to me, and gave me love when I was always came in crying. You appreciated me for who I was, and not what I appeared to be to the other students. Despite having a class full of rambunctious youth at times, you always had a level and loving head on your shoulders. I'll never forget you, and you always hold a special place in my heart. -KK

  • Good stuff, positive attitude.

  • National day of what?

  • THANK YOU Mother Creator!

  • thank you mr. harmon 4th grade teacher, i love when you read us the poems where the sidewalk ends ill never forget your dedication and enthusiasiumand all th times you made me laugh and thank you mrs. Grable you made me love math.

  • Thank you Ms. Fingle!

  • Looks like we won't have to worry about teacher's unions and public schools much longer because the Secretary of Defense has decided to start down the slippery slope of involving the Department of Defense in K-12 education. Check out the DoD's Starbase Program, which expanded nationwide under The National Defense Authorization Act of 2000, 10 U.S.C. Section 2193(b).

  • that awkward moment when all the comments are a wall of text

  • ye sure they greedy going on strike…

  • unfortunately there are definitely a lot of teachers who don't put forth the effort to truly make a difference to their students. However, if you are/were a lucky student, there are maybe one or two that really stand out from the rest. Those are the teachers this video talks about. Dedicate this comment to Mr. Wick (always humble, lead by example) and my friend Kathryn who teaches. (your students are so lucky to have a teacher who cares!)

  • i hated school for a couple of things...my friends got into a fight and got no consequences...i wore the wrong shoes to school and almost got kicked out.i always hated the teachers who wouldnt let me sleep in their clases.by example my english teacher (you probably noticed im not good in english)wouldnt let me sleep while i had some of the best grades in the class...weirdly when an activity was graded by another teacher i had significantly better results.

  • I had a mediocre - to - bad experience all throughout public school. I barely graduated with enough grades to attend college, but the only way I did attend college was because of my high school algebra teachers, Ms. Moody and Ms. David, from Edison High School, Alexandria VA. And back in middle school, Mr. Peter Faber and Mr. David Charnok gave me enough to encouragement to keep going.

Let the haters hate, and the dreamers dream; teaching is demanding, thankless, & a lightning rod for critics.

  • @gilhouse - It's not the profession itself that is a lightning rod for critics. People have an issue with monopolies on labor, especially when it concerns such an important societal function, and when the result of that monopoly is demonstrably inefficient and wasteful, as is the case with the teacher's unions. Taxpayers should be getting a better value for their educational buck, but a bunch of gangsters are running a protection racket that leaves most of our students borderline illiterate.

  • @thetruthisoutthere32 says you. I disagree wholeheartedly. Those teaching "gangsters" making their middle-class wages are not the enemy. There is plenty of tax money to pay middle class wages, it just all gets siphoned off by the wealthy. And you can pay them as little as you want, but it still won't improve education. And you can fire everyone and start over, and it still won't fix the root cause of failing students or drop-outs: poverty and/or shitty-parenting.

  • @gilhouse - Incompetent teachers are a big part of the problem and we have a system that protects them by making it virtually impossible to fire a crappy teacher. A unionized system that encourages crappy teaching is the issue as is maintaining a socialist education system. Schools get plenty of funding, yet corrupt politicians and administrators divert those funds away from the teachers and the classroom. This is done by government bureaucrats and not wealthy business owners.

  • @thetruthisoutthere32 Again, says you... and David Guggenheim and other fatties waiting to "invest in the industry of education" as soon as they can wrestle those middle-class incomes away from the people who chose to teach because they want to help kids. There are a few bad-apples in every field. There are tweaks and adjustments needed to contracts. But saying crap is encouraged is wrong. Sounds like you were influenced by "Waiting for Superman" propaganda.

  • @gilhouse - I am not one to subscribe to any propaganda and I have not seen the piece to which you are referring. Thank you, but I do my own thinking. We are not talking about a few bad apples here. We are talking about a system that keeps inner city children uneducated and perpetuates the cycle of poverty. Of course, liberals only like to pretend to fight for those causes in order to develop complex and fraudulent schemes to defraud taxpayers of money without achieving any demonstrable results.

  • I went to up to a respected teacher once, one who got Teacher of the Year awards in his school, by student votes, and told him I was being molested by my father. It took a lot of courage. What did he do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Some teachers truly suck, no matter how wonderful they seem to everyone else. If the Teacher of Year couldn't help me, why try the others, who weren't nearly as "approachable?"

  • @sarajsh7 wow, that's horrible. Sorry to hear about your tragedy.

  • teach a thanker

  • Sad that its only when you have finished school and enter the outside world that you realise your teachers are not the enemy, i was never a bad student, but i hated them for giving class room detention when only one student caused the trouble. looking back i now see that student was holding back our learing.

So i say THANK YOU to the STRICT teachers who took it upon themself to be the "bad guy" in order to educate the ungrateful.

  • Kids today are out of control. I was a High School teacher for 5yrs, but quit after classroom behaviour descended beyond my control.

The last straw was an incident in which a 15YO couple openly had sex during my lesson. I went over & told them to stop, but the boy pulled a knife & told me to “back off” while the girl actually said I could “have a go” on her or her best mate afterwards if I just let them be!

Humiliated, I backed away while the rest of the class just laughed. I quit next day.

  • Some, some would say most, teachers treat it like a job - clock in, deal with kids, clock out, memory wipe, start over the next day. Then there are the teachers that do their best to give students who need help that extra time, the ones who care enough to be tough when you need it, encourage you to do better, and share in your excitement when you do when.

Those are the teachers we remember most. I had many teachers, but only one who fits that description. Thanks Mrs. Merritt!

  • I'd like to thank Youtube videos for teaching me all the things my school teachers left out.

  • thank youuuuuu to my teacherrrrrrrrr

  • awwww

  • 0:25 supa hot?

  • @goldsaintmx

im guessing you've never been to school haha

  • @beedee211 You said it bud

  • I'm 17 now, and I've only had one great teacher. She was a strict teacher, and very few actually liked her. The other students didn't realize how much it meant to her when they worked hard, or did great on a test. Even though she was strict, she cared, motivated us and treated us with respect, and that's what makes a teacher great in my opinion. I'm forever thankful for this teacher and the teachers who are like her.

  • But I had off on the 25th! Wtf! BUT Thanks to all my teachers....Even the ones that hated me:(

  • Thank you Mr.Erb and Mr.Henry(lehman Hs)

  • Ms. Igoua :D

  • merci Andrée, sans vous je ne me serais probablement pas intégré aussi vite au Québec et mon français serait aujourd'hui encore médriocre.

over 9000 times; thanks. You are the foundation of my success. You were so caring, so patient. w/o, not only would I not be able to speak French, but i may have never even ventured to try to learn English.

  • The Department of Educatioin- "Producing dumber kids since 1979"

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you Mr.Brian Boyce :)

  • but there getting paid to do it

  • Don't they get paid? Why I gotta thank them?! (If they're reasonable and aren't those negative stereotypical teachers then yeah I will/ do thank them but there are some who.....)

  • This is a thank a TEACHER video, so to all of you bad "teachers" out there that loosely give yourselves the title of a teacher, please don't assume any of these comments are for you. Good day.

  • I thank teachers for stubbornly wanting to stay in a dated education system where tenure is way more important than actually making sure students are properly educated.

  • and yet america is nowhere even close to having the top education in the world...

  • some teachers are douche-bags, make a "hate on teachers" video too.

  • Thank you for going on strike on 30 november.

  • Thank You teacher. After six years I left school and have no valuable or work related skills.

  • @GameMusicCompilation

I feel so sorry for you. Ever thought of doing something with your life?

  • Like ANY of the teachers they thank will actually see this video in the first place....

  • @stueygewy they probably notified the teachers after this was put up

  • most of my teachers know im not going to be anything in life. only one stands out though. she wont take failure as the outcome.

  • My tenth grade English teacher. I would have been LOST in college if she hadn't finally taught me how to write a good paper. All my English teachers before her were terrible, but I am so grateful I had her!

  • thanks

  • I would like to thank my yr5 teacher miss thomas for being so hot!

  • at 0:18 that guy has the same glasses as me

  • too bad no one has school that day

  • I'd like to thank my social studies teacher Mr.whats-his-name for watching the futbol game while my friends talked,

my film teacher Ms.Something-or-another for showing lots of X-rated films and calling it a planned lesson,

my math teacher Ms. Sharron for being totally useless,

my mythology teacher for all the dirty jokes about underwear, even on test,

and most importantly, My other math teacher, who had the courage to admit that it would be more fun talking about MTV then algebra.

    God say amen.

  • how is anyone going to thank there teacher on the 25th when we are off school?

  • Im on holiday sooo

  • Dang, I have no good teachers. :P

  • When are we going to stop patting each other on the back for our failings and start making an actual difference, instead of pretending to be working for a greater cause? We speak about teachers as if they are heroic. How many of them actually have the courage to fight the system that continues to corrode the minds of our children?

  • Are we going to thank all those teachers in the inner city that have been doing a terrific job of providing little to no education to those who they are responsible for teaching so that the inner city can become a cesspool and a breeding ground for organized crime? Are we going to thank all the others who indoctrinate children so that they will grow up without asking questions similar to these?

  • Ewww...Cant think of an inspirational grade-school teacher.

  • wtf ppl are thanking teachers for. i studied in private school and my parents had to work hard to pay my teaching. I mean i thanked them by paying money for service. they should really be thankful i paid them because otherwise they are worthless "projectors" who can not have a real job

  • @Blueatillalonny thats lame

  • BOTH OF MY PARENTS WERE TEACHERS. COOL VIDEO,

  • Oh yeah. Thank the nutcases who should be 100 feet from children at all times.

  • I would like to thank my 4th grade teacher, Mr. Cleon kennedy, AKA Coach Kennedy.

He really put the fun in math with his jokes. I will never forget his famous words,"Pay attention or get detention". I hope you enjoy the rest of your time Coach,

    Your former 4th grade student,

    Andrew

  • too bad no teacher has really inspired me.....

  • This sounds really cool.... but you might want to celebrate it on days students actually go to school.

  • It is sad to see that so many of the commenters on this video cannot appreciate the hard work teachers have to do. If you can type a hateful sentence, thank a teacher.

  • @apeman281 Thanks teachers, for teaching me communist bull shit.

  • @apeman281 o please give me a text book and I can babysit a 6th grade class. An Over paid babysitter is what a elementary/high school teacher is.

  • @apeman281 - I have had many great teachers, but the vast majority of them have been horrible. If we are going to have a National Thank a Teacher Day to honor the small minority of teachers who actually give a sh*t about encouraging their students to think, cultivate their own minds, and pursue their own interests, then we should have a National Hate a Teacher Day where the public can rebuke those worthless sacks of garbage that are simply occupying a job at the behest of the teacher's unions.

  • Besides, isn't there a teacher appreciation day in May? I remember my schools honoring that day every year.

  • @SAIL4323 - You are probably just remembering your teachers celebrating International Workers' Day or May Day, a communist holiday that the teachers unions and their minions celebrate annually along with other pinkos.

  • @jolop360 I've read about that. Rolling Meadows is where the singer of the rock band Rise Against attended high school (and filmed a music video).

  • I love elementary school teachers :D. It's just the other grades...

  • Thank a Teacher on a day when we dont have School!! YUPP Very Smart

  • teachers LOL

  • I Just Disliked This Video With A Passion

  • lf you can write your name; then thank the Teacher.

  • I found my high school Latin teacher on FB...can't wait until Friday to tell him what a great teacher he was. I will also be remembering my kindergarten teacher...because she was 'the first' and she opened my mind to the big world 'out there'.

  • I thank a teacher almost every day. she is my adoted mother and highest role model

  • I would like to thank my high school astronomy teacher, who really really got me more inspired in astronomy. He has(d) such an amazing and unique way of teaching astronomy that I had my mind blown. I am never going to forget his voice, EVER. One of the funniest things was that, he would pronounce the planet Urans like your anus and that really got the entire class laughing!!. Once again, i would like to thank him for all the things that he taught us in astrtonomy class. Your the best!! :)

  • Thanks to the union led indoctrinization centers where our students have not been prepared for the future, yet the teachers want more from the taxpayer without results.

Let's here it for the teachers at the many successful Charter Schools!!

  • Hahaa! When they were talking. i kinda imagined the characters they portrayed in the other videos;)

  • I teach and am appreciative of the recognition, though the greatest way a person can thank a teacher is to oppose legislation that toss teachers mandates such as NCLB, PLCs, and other various acronymic programs that undermine the intelligence and question the capability of teachers. Throw a comment my way, whether you agree or disagree.

  • Thank you!! (Retired Music Teacher) ~Super Laundry Bag :)

  • That is a wonderful idea. Good teachers are so important and sadly there are only a few.

  • agreed, we at the Children's Film Society, India...salute the teachers who enable our children - and thereby enable the country's future! Thank you all teachers for understanding and listening to the children!

  • Mrs. Christine Sullivan =)

Best teacher and musician ever =)

  • Ms. Papp, my 6th grade history teacher. Ms. Papp, thank you for staying with me after class to discuss history in general. I now realize how hard a student I must had been to teach, considering how full of myself I was. Thank you for putting up with me.

  • Love every oodle of Storycorps!!!

  • Finally! A new video!

  • I wish i had a teacher to bond like that... But im still going to school so i still have a chance...

  • My 11th grade U.S. Government teacher, Mr. Schmidt, died nearly five years ago. He was the first and only teacher to give me detention for smarting off in class, and during that detention he gave me a copy of Stephen King's "Gunslinger" to browse. I wound up buying my own copy after I left school and from then on I was addicted to reading. I went to college, earned my degree in English and I've been a writer ever since. Thank you, Mr. Schmidt! You never knew it, but you changed my life.

  • @fastchapter It weren't for him you would have never found love for reading, and go to college. Wow!

  • @anoojptl In so many words, that's exactly what he did. Up until he got me interested in reading, I didn't know what I'd do when I started college. He inadvertently showed me there was something out there that I wanted to do - not just for a job, but for the pure challenge of it.

  • thanks for a new video

  • I LOVE STORYCORPS!!!

  • MY FIRST GRADE TEACHER WAS NAMED MRS.GILBERT(0:02)

  • i never bonded like that with any teacher ive had...

  • That awkward moment when you have the same name as one of the teachers

  • I like the animated videos :)

  • Ms.Nicholson.....she thought me how to speak English just 2 years ago

  • I'm kinda curious about where the one who learned english at eight was from now....

  • Maybe you guys should make the minimum donation less than 25 $ would love to donate a little, but I am a student xD

And I think you could get a lot of money out of lots of small donations :)

  • why does it cost so much to bring storycorps places? To me it just seems kind ofoutrageous.

But I love all the animated videos.

  • Can you do more cartoon ??
