I'm just starting kite boarding myself and am upset a world renown would do something like this. It gives boarders a bad name. There are over 200 species of sharks in the red list of the endangered species list. I can't tell what type of shark this is, but I would naturally assume that you should leave endangered species alone. Your "humanitarian effort" of removing the hook is not helpful either, seeing as how you deprived it's neural tissue of much needed oxygen for several minutes.
