Intelligent design is not a theory. It isn't even an hypothesis in any scientific sense of the term. It is an irrational religious belief, and one that can essentially be reduced to, "magic man dunnit!".
Thanks Henry, all that you had to say was "scientists believe this" and that takes all the work out of figuring out what is true and what isn't. They must not be questioned. Thanks for the time saver.
@aaabbbeee Truth is a higher principle of fact; truth is a culmination of facts. Cell theory is true because it consists of facts such as: new cells form from existing cells, living things consist of one or more cells....
Glad evolution will be taken out of public schools. It's not science! Come on Henry! I used to love Henry Rollins. Smile, Jesus loves you Henry!!! 8-D
Henry Rollins is the man. If you don't "believe" in evolution (which is like saying you don't believe in MATH, by the way) then don't watch his videos about it.
real christians aren't power hungry, perhaps the "christians" you see on television. but I assure you there are few christians who actually do what the bible teaches. just read it, it is truth, and you'll see arguing about how we got here is the least of the worries
The sollusion to the problem of God is the deffinition of the word needs to be updated. Now we understand that god refers to the Singularity that exploded with a Big Bang giving birth to and evolving Herself into all life forms. While the Original Creator/ Singularity has died, remnants of Her life giving energy is found in background white noises and the rescently hypothisized God particals. Assuming She was a He is what screwed everything up.
Also, the evidence of a certain process that lead to the development of humans as we know them has nothing to do with whether or not there is a benevolent, divine being in this universe. Religion does operate on faith and just as faith can't be applied in the lab, we cannot apply scientific reason to theological metaphysics. Again, I am not a creationist, nor a strict follower of ID. A term I sometimes prefer is theistic evolutionist.
I personally am a believer in intelligent design, but I am also a believer in science and reason and appophatic theology. What that means in my life is that you cannot use physics to prove or disprove metaphysics and vice-verse. Objectively speaking, evolution has nothing to do with theology either way. If anything, it proves that genetics works, which is how I got green eyes and brown hair. I personally believe in ID, but I'm far too appophatic to try to bring it into the realm of science.
I don't think you realize something. Life can't be an intelligent design. At the heart of all life is DNA. DNA is in a constant state of replication. And since replication isn't perfect, there are miscopies. (mutations) They pile up and lead to genetic variation. It's that variation that natural selection acts on. Basically, the diversity of life is the result of an error based replication system. This is why evolution is so strongly believed to be UNguided.
I shouldn't have said life CAN'Tbe an intelligent design. I should have said the fundamentals of how life forms and changes is strongly suggestive of an unguided evolutionary process. If we are an intelligent design, the intelligent designer must be intentionally deceiving.
@itzahazylife That's why I prefer saying I'm a theistic evolutionist. It prevents seeing metaphysics from a finite perspective, an idea prevalent in kataphatic theology. Kataphatics will try to explain and compartmentalize and, at times, just make crap up. Appohatics just take evidence and findings (A leads to B, B leads to C, etc.) as what they are since we believe that humans aren't capable of understanding the nuts and bolts of an omnipotent god.
@itzahazylife And I have studied genetics as applied to evolution, specifically evolutionary psychology. I won't ever say evolution didn't happen. I'm not against reason, unless it's Aristotelian-based theology. I'm quite factual since for me facts don't equal truth. I just look at metaphysics from a more neo-Platonic perspective, which has its own merits and difficulties. I can say "I don't know" with no problem, but finite explanations of God's workings can be tricky.
I never understood theistic evolution though. Biological evolution occurs because of errors during replication. Why would an omnipotent god use an error based process to engineer life? Why wouldn't he just directly create life using his omnipotence?
@itzahazylife I really don't know. Then again, I'm not a kataphatic. I don't presume to know, nor am I sure it's even possible to do so. Perhaps, and this is a rhetorical statement, what we perceive as something error based is in fact a type of progression that we haven't caught onto. Again, this is a rhetorical statement to contemplate, not debate. That's about the furthest I'd go with ID or creation science.
@itzahazylife I never understood why any god would create life at all. Boredom? Loneliness? And if he did create us, why all the guts and miniscule details? Why not just use something like gummy bear material, or Spam, and then animate it? God can allegedly do anything, so he could make people that function without a heart, or lungs, or veins, or kidneys. Why bother with all that mess? Anyway. Religion is stupipd.
As a Christian I applaud Rollins for seeing the difference between a Christian and a Fundamentalist Christian. I have always liked Henry and his effort to make the world a better place. I'd say more atheists need to be like Rollins but in truth more HUMAN BEINGS need to be like Rollins.
@TheRacer909 EVOLUTION IS BASED ON FAITH?!?!? LMFAO evolution is science. creationism is based on faith you dumb fuck. evolution has been proven time and time again through the study of dna and the mapping of genomes. there's no god. if there is, answer me this question: is your god infinite or finite?
@UFCMania98"The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). Human DNA consists of about 3 billion bases, and more than 99 percent of those bases are the same in all people.....
@UFCMania98 ....The ORDER, or SEQUENCE, of these bases determines the information available for building and maintaining an organism, similar to the way in which letters of the alphabet appear in a certain order to form words and sentences.
What is DNA?!?! Information! If there is info, logic says that there is an Informer
@UFCMania98 Genesis 1:24 is just an example; And GOD SAID, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:" and it was so. That is the Informer that put information into the DNA code. Without that info YOU don't exist. It is impossible for anything living to still live w/out that info. Oh....and macro evolution science needs faith in order to think that all of this (the universe) came out of nothing. WOW!!
@Curtlegger LMFAO...you still didn't answer my question you dumb fucking shit. my dog is smarter than you. is your god infinite or not? the bible is nothing but lies. god doesnt exist...period. I can write a book about how pigs fly or how unicorns exist. ROFL you're fucking stupider than I could've possibly imagined
@UFCMania98 Wow!! is that all you got. Those who don't respond w/ a good sound argument always resort to insults, name calling and cursing...you need to grow up dude, what are you? 13 or 14 years old?! If this is all you do then this is my last response to you.
@TheRacer909 The proponents of evolution don't have "faith" that non living matter became life, they are trying to find out how life started using a process called science and looking for proof. Science is an ongoing exploration that never ends.
@TheRacer909 My challenge to you... the giraffe. look up the circulation from a particular laryngeal nerve that runs from the brain to the larynex. If you think evidence you can find can dispute that, look into their mating habits.
You can't prove the validity of a book with passages from within. that is why there is a reference section is books, to show where the evidence is. The bible has very little. especially prophesy. (most time prophesy was written after the real events anyway)
Now, as far as Rollins' saying that Intelligent Design cannot be tested in a lab therefor should be discarded, then he would have to feel the same about Human Evolution, which cannot be tested in a laboratory either. I personally believe that human evolution makes the most sense, but i have a sneaking suspicion that the bible beaters will get the biggest laugh at the end of the day.
I'd like to correct Mr Rollins, the title of Darwins book was "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" He discusses in full about how 1 or 2 races will ultimately wipe out the other ones in his book "Descent of Man". If Rollins believes in Evolution and Science, then he would be classified as a racist, since evolution and genetics say that blacks are more related to chimpanzees than other races, DNA backs it up
@TheRacer909 if the evolution debate was science vs science it would be a debate about the parameters in which evolution occurred. Considering the "species change over time" basis of evolution is a proven fact. Where the theory is legitimately debatable is how and when these changes occur, what changes exactly have and have not occurred, what changes can and/or will occur, etc. Not do we believe a well supported scientific theory based on fact or do we believe a bronze aged myth
@tailgunnerjoe1 Actually it HASN'T. Only the effects of gravity have been observed. The actual phenomena that occurs to create attractions between objects has never been observed, the Theory of Gravitation offers the best explanation however like Evolution it's "just a theory"
@TheRacer909 - Did you catch the part where Rollins mentioned the "Intellectually Lazy"?
That's what you're being right now.
The Bible (this "prophecy" you speak of) is a self-authenticating, and untrustworthy book of bronze-age fairy tales that require, nay, DEMAND that you believe them - or burn. The only evidence you offer of them being "factual" are MORE stories from the same book.
Evolutionary process is not only provable, IT'S REPRODUCIBLE UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS.
@TheRacer909 In sicence a theory is the most elaborate form of consistent scientific knowledge not yet disproved by experiment. A theory can't be proven, only disproven. No one has been able to disprove evolution or abiogenesis. Gravity is in fact a theory, made up of many laws. So is the germ-theory of disease. And my position is that someone who thinks god created life has a lot of nerve talking about observable reality. Please leave science to the scientists, we'll leave religion to you. Bye.
@TheRacer909 Has it occured to you that humans do not understand every facet of science, and what you claim to be in contradiction to scientific law and observable reality, is quite possibly beyond the reach of our current understanding and technology. To draw to the conclusion that 'god' is the only explanation for a 'contradictory event' seems premature and unjustified, and even arrogant to assume that the spiritual figure of your preferred religion is responsible.
@TheRacer909 so essentially, the bible can be proven correct by referencing another passage in the bible. Not really corroborating your sources are you?
@TheRacer909 yeah me too. But i just cited well known expermients that prove organic compounds can come form inorganic compunds. But that's the theory of Abiogenesis. Evolution explains what happens to life after abiogenesis. In any case, if you dismiss abiogenesis because of no proof (even though there is plenty of it, for evolution as well), then you should dismiss a supernatural being creating life, because there is no proof of that either. Anyway, had a good chat and best of luck!
@TheRacer909 I understand you can have doubts about it. To doubt is healthy. I'm not saying I'm 100% sure that this is exactly what happened. All i'm saying is that it's proven that organic compunds CAN come from inorganic compounds. Since it CAN happen, then we can't rule it out as an explanation for the genesis of life. Since it can happen, it isn't a "wild" idea to think it happened before. And If i'm given the choice between this theory or the belief that god did it, i'd choose the theory.
@TheRacer909 From a rock? no. From amino acids. Here's the proof: amino acids, the building blocks of life, can form with natural chemical reactions unrelated to life, which then turn into proteins (like the MIller-Urey experiment proved). The questions is not "If" that happened. It happens all the time. The question is when exactly, and which proteins formed first. But it's a proven fact that organic compunds, or "life", can come from inorganic compounds. Google it if you want.
@TheRacer909 Edward Buchner was able to generate biochemical reactions (processes that happen in living things) without using anything that was alive, proving you don't need life to generate life. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for it. In 1907. How's your logic working out?
Absolutely, Alla wa akhbar, from the muslims I understand, they are way behind, but in the West??? Dark ages still in the Midwest ......wow it is amazing..Still believing in a gossip started 2000 years ago....see what happens to a gossip in 4 days...omgod...hahaha
Not only is he a great musician and a hilarious comedian, he is able to think and not afraid to speak the truth in a world that doesn't want to hear what he (and people like him) has (/have) to say.
@TheRacer909 logic and evidence that over 90% of the scientific community failed to notice, right??
i read your comment and realized that SuperAtheist is right... you ARE painfully stupid...
your comment is a testament to the fact that you don't even know what evolutionary theory is about... your not even arguing against evolution, your arguing against abiogenesis... and failing... because there IS proof for abiogenesis.
@SuperAtheist Take it easy, friend, you'll never change his mind. Science changes its views based on evidence and repeated testing of theories. It welcomes (encourages, even!) people to try and knock holes in theory with careful experimentation and clever thinking and when proven wrong, rejoices in the new accumulation of knowledge. The Church is the polar opposite; people are told NOT to question, NOT to think. Anyone who finds such an approach appealing is beyond reasoning with.
This guy shoves atheism down your throat with as much enthusiasm as those Jehovah witnesses when they don't read the no solicitor sign on my door and try to convert me to be christian.
seriously, everyone who is criticizing others for their religious believes is a colossal chode. if you're going to judge someone, judge them for their actions not what they believe. unfortunately, i do judge atheists for the fact that they are all dickheads, too stuck up in their ways and if you mention Jesus or the Buddha they get a stick up their ass. Jesus was a great man, one of the greatest to ever live, just because you don't believe he was god doesn't mean he was a horrible person
no matter what a person believes, there needs to be a separation between church and state. unfortunately, this distinct line that is supposed to exist is becoming thinner and thinner everyday. has anyone ever heard of the 1st Amendment? seriously!!! religion, get the fuck out of my government. that is all.
Never stop searching. Never stop questioning. Never stop exploring. Never stop learning till the day you die. Remember, the biggest problem with a closed mind is nothing gets in.
Fundamentalists will destroy god and country. They're too close minded to believe anything else. A couple of you literally make me want to puke. For shame for shame Darwin was a witch. Einstein was the devil. Your as crazy as crazy ass scientoligist* Tom Cruse.
I find it funny when people say that if Henry is so smart and strong, etc. when in the end he is. He doesn't see himself as but damn fuck he is. Seems the stronger and smarter you are, the more people deny it.
You will remember. It's been seven days since you last replied. Two seconds?? You will remember one day and I hope by then your in a better place because I'm praying for you. Like it or not. Don't be mad at me or the God you try so hard not to believe in but he's speaking to you or you wouldn't try so hard not to believe.
@Southtacomamook You're such a pompous, egotistical, "holier-than-thou" laugh riot. Your beliefs hold no more weight than anyone elses. Just because you believe in a god, any god, it doesn't make you better than anyone else. Your worth as a human being comes from your actions, your intentions, your demeanor, and your intellect. Blind faith does not help you in any facet of life. Your arguments are juvenille and your attitude is ridiculous. Get off your pedestal, you are no better than anyone.
I contacted James randi and he didn't know what the million dollars was about. I could really use that money to buy a new Pope Mobile for the new Pope dude. Could you give more info where I could collect the cash? I feel so lucky maybe I could start my new business of kool aide flavored communion wafers, I'm sure that would draw more people to the church.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
One day you will remember the guy from you tube that tried to give you a way out. And i'll be praying for God to forgive you, for some relief from your eternal suffering either way way I do care for you and am not one of these religious freaks that judges you because I'm not sure of my own eternity even though I know the truth. Lets just agree peace and love is a good thing and hope our futures are full of both forget a study, and scientific proof. I've got the proof I need and maybe I'm not ab
@Southtacomamook You're actually a pretty nice guy, considering that you could have gone the "FIRE AND BRIMSTONE" route, but you do not know the 'truth" no matter how much you claim to. The fact that you claim to know it is the problem, that's what starts conflicts. You're not mean, but you're condescending and just a tad arrogant. it's faith isn't it? It wouldn't be faith if you knew the truth would it?
I tell you the truth. I love you all honestly. I would like to spend eternity with you. I'm not so bold as to say I'm worthy because i was born a sinner. I'm not being judgmental of you because I'm still pursuing my relationship with God but get on your way with yours what could it hurt you to try.
I don't love you. I don't even know you. And after reading your comments I don't have the slightest desire to spend time with you. Not a minute, not an hour and quite certainly not an eternity.
You're so eager to take what a man says for absolute truth that you blind yourself to open-mindedness yet you claim to be so informed. would it really hurt you to try giving God a try. Ask him to guide you to everlasting life buy a bible an live a true miracle. he will speak to you and you'll be amazed. Instead you'll listen to bable put faith in man without research. Try it.
You guys that think your so intelligent yet your willing to believe everything these people throw at you, if you really think about it if you were God wouldn't you put the truth out there and those that are smart enough to research and have faith be the ones you want to spend eternity with.
There's really been no brainwashing it's just been my own experience and relationship with the lord. You wouldn't understand unless you've experienced it, I'm just saying honestly talk to Jesus and he will respond and you'll be amazed what could it hurt you only have your eternity to gamble with. Love yuz all the same.
@Southtacomamook You cannot use personal experience as evidence because it isn't demonstrable. Just because someone doesn't understand something does not make them wrong. Your claims must be followed by some kind of evidence that can be submitted for peer review and be replicated in tests. After that you'll get 1 million dollars from James Randi.
Henry if you are so intelligent and such a tough guy what would it hurt for you to ask Jesus to send the holy spirit upon you and ask for forgiveness and enlightenment. Try it out. You should be smart enough to at least try it and see. He loves you either way but only until u die and if you don't know him u go to a place where he is absent. Try it you pussy.
Southtacomamook, if you're so intelligent, what would it hurt for you to ask Ra to send the holy spirit upon you and ask for forgiveness and enlightenment. Try it out. You should be smart enough to at least try it and see. Ra loves you either way ,but only until you're dead and if you don't know Ra, you go to a place where he is absent. Try it you dumbass buybull thumper.
@SuperAtheist No way man! Poseidon will beat up Ra any day! I propose a tag team match: Poseidon and Odin v.s. Ra and Marduk. Be there or be square. (=D
I remember the time when the Church was the revolution. When it was Christianity that brought women on front again, when Christians were the GOOD guys.
Fuck all you fundamentalists and Christian jihad. I won't let you ruin the world in the name of a God which people love.
Keep the faith in your heart, keep the science within your mind. And your evangelism at your churches.
Evoulution has one problem, What one refere to as the missing link. It does not come up with the explaination on the origin of species, It only explains what the name says" evolution", which one can question for many reason. Science and religion has an on going debate which is mearly fiction, meaning they they both lie. And it is boring and stupid.
@au46tro9 "the missing link" is a very old fashioned concept and was pretty much abandoned in the 80's.
There are a number of transitional fossils in the fossil record now. Science has developed a lot in the last 20 years. The main problem is that people fail to learn and educate themselves beyond a minimal and outdated level.
"Irreducable Complexity is ONLY OUTWEIGHT by the COMPLETE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE involved." He than goes out to say "You can't get God to come down to the lab and prove a thing. You just have to believe and Science does not operate on faith. Faith is taught in Curches. If you can't prove it in the scientific world. You've Got No Gain." This guy's a genious, haha. He's right if you can't prove it in the scientific world you've got NO GAIN! I'd say to him to just take his advice and Just believe, haha
@blackfrank32 That is not true..You sholud read up on your definitions
A scientific theory has a different meaning to a theory in standard English. In standard English, a theory is an idea that may or may not be true. In scientific terms, a theory is something that has been proved to be true with significant scientific evidence that has never been scientifically disproved.
@psycofloyd does a blind man not exist? how can you explain to a blind man what vision is like? all i'm saying is we are all "blind" in that we can't perceive everything that is happening around us. our scope is very limited.
In my experience, most religious people are smart enough to know that religion and science aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, and slapping the word GOD all over everything we can't explain is not only unhelpful but potentially dangerous because it breeds stagnation. It's a shame a few religious assholes have to fuck it up for everyone else.
Evolution is a theory based on facts and reality. Religions are fairy tales based on wishes, fantasies, delusions. A hippie looking dude with delusions of grandeur walking on water and healing the sick. He couldnt cure cancer? or stop earthquakes? The biggest bullshit story ever.
@seraph101 There are some evidences, he existed, but they don't say, he was a fuckin' god. I would rather consider magicians as gods. Good for me, I'm interested in astronomy and I don't need to seek false answers :P
Evolution is still a damn theory, and until It becomes a law you should not dispense with intelligent design. Do all the research you'd like, there never will be 100% proof of anything concerning the beginning.
@MrStefan124 Gravity is a theory. Now what does that tell you. And intelligent design should not be taught at all, because there is no evidence for it, absolutely nothing.
@MrStefan124 A scientific theory has a different meaning to a theory in standard English. In standard English, a theory is an idea that may or may not be true. In scientific terms, a theory is something that has been proved to be true with significant scientific evidence that has never been scientifically disproved.
A cursory skim of the comments demonstrates that sadly your video posting only sucked in the believers of a myth that claims the world was created when the Sumerians were running the first civilization in the middle east.
@WraitheDarkbone The laws of gravity and electromagnetic fields and physics, etc. speak volumes about intelligent design. Long ago when people believed that the world was flat...Isaiah said....the earth is a sphere hanging upon nothing...Before DNA was ever even conceived by human minds, the Psalmist wrote.."You see even the embryo of me...my parts are down in writing". Isaiah also said the "Due to the abundance of Your dynamic energy, all things came into existence. Einstein: E=MC2
"irreducible complexity" is not quite as inane as "punctuated equilibrium" which is a "premise" of evolutionary theory (theory remember). There is as much proof for an intelligent designer as there is for evolution depending on your personal paradigm. Without unequivocal proof...evolution is just a humanistic religion.
I agree with the Psalmist who said, "the fool says is his heart there is no God". Nuff said...
@Lydiamolloy All large ideas in science are called a theory. Scientific laws are just small things, like the gas laws which just are just mathematical models for how gases behave in accordance with changes in temperature, volume and pressure. Gravity, germs and atoms are just theories but tell the Japanese that it's ok, Atomic theory s just a theory and the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 have nothing to fear. Theories in science are not the same as philosophic theories.
@100silverpizza 1) God exists. 2) God is all knowing. 3) God is all powerful. 4) God is all good. 5) Evil exists. These five premises contradict one and other. This kind of god would be morally obligated to eliminate all evil. At least one of these premises MUST be false. Evil can be defined as any action that destroys something of value, so by definition having the capacity to chose between good and evil does NOT give value to your actions. The god of the bible can be PROVEN to not exist.
Whether you believe in God or not you'd better profess a belief because your rights come from the creator.Hence "creator endowed rights" in the constitution as its basis. For the 1st time in history man was a free sovereign king with the government as his slave bc he was endowed with UNalienable rights from the CREATOR.That is why there is a concerted effort to take God out of everything.Because if you do that you render the constitution meaningless. And your rights go bye, bye.
@topher23w That is the STUPIDEST argument I've ever heard. For one thing, dipshit, the "creator" gets mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. For another, the United States wasn't the first kingless society in history - "republic" is from Latin and "democracy" from Greek because THE GREEKS AND ROMANS PIONEERED THOSE KINGLESS SYSTEMS. Finally, you're the one trying to restrict others' rights by insisting that people profess beliefs they don't actually hold.
The problem lies when evolution is presented as fact and not theory, It doesnt even have many facts to back it up. To say evolved from a more primative man makes sense, the problem is any belief we came from anything other that a more primative human has never been proven. They found bones of early man & ape, but never anything that shows any transition of the two, this is scientific fact. Basically, the diversity of life is the result of an error based replication system. This is why evolution is so strongly believed to be UNguided.
itzahazylife 1 month ago
@MrJimmyLocksmith
I shouldn't have said life CAN'Tbe an intelligent design. I should have said the fundamentals of how life forms and changes is strongly suggestive of an unguided evolutionary process. If we are an intelligent design, the intelligent designer must be intentionally deceiving.
itzahazylife 1 month ago
@itzahazylife That's why I prefer saying I'm a theistic evolutionist. It prevents seeing metaphysics from a finite perspective, an idea prevalent in kataphatic theology. Kataphatics will try to explain and compartmentalize and, at times, just make crap up. Appohatics just take evidence and findings (A leads to B, B leads to C, etc.) as what they are since we believe that humans aren't capable of understanding the nuts and bolts of an omnipotent god.
MrJimmyLocksmith 1 month ago
@itzahazylife And I have studied genetics as applied to evolution, specifically evolutionary psychology. I won't ever say evolution didn't happen. I'm not against reason, unless it's Aristotelian-based theology. I'm quite factual since for me facts don't equal truth. I just look at metaphysics from a more neo-Platonic perspective, which has its own merits and difficulties. I can say "I don't know" with no problem, but finite explanations of God's workings can be tricky.
MrJimmyLocksmith 1 month ago
@MrJimmyLocksmith
I never understood theistic evolution though. Biological evolution occurs because of errors during replication. Why would an omnipotent god use an error based process to engineer life? Why wouldn't he just directly create life using his omnipotence?
itzahazylife 1 month ago
@itzahazylife I really don't know. Then again, I'm not a kataphatic. I don't presume to know, nor am I sure it's even possible to do so. Perhaps, and this is a rhetorical statement, what we perceive as something error based is in fact a type of progression that we haven't caught onto. Again, this is a rhetorical statement to contemplate, not debate. That's about the furthest I'd go with ID or creation science.
MrJimmyLocksmith 1 month ago
@itzahazylife I never understood why any god would create life at all. Boredom? Loneliness? And if he did create us, why all the guts and miniscule details? Why not just use something like gummy bear material, or Spam, and then animate it? God can allegedly do anything, so he could make people that function without a heart, or lungs, or veins, or kidneys. Why bother with all that mess? Anyway. Religion is stupipd.

UFCMania98 2 months ago
@UFCMania98"The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). Human DNA consists of about 3 billion bases, and more than 99 percent of those bases are the same in all people.....
Curtlegger 2 months ago
@UFCMania98 ....The ORDER, or SEQUENCE, of these bases determines the information available for building and maintaining an organism, similar to the way in which letters of the alphabet appear in a certain order to form words and sentences.
What is DNA?!?! Information! If there is info, logic says that there is an Informer
Curtlegger 2 months ago
@Curtlegger do you believe in santa claus too?
UFCMania98 1 month ago
@UFCMania98 Genesis 1:24 is just an example; And GOD SAID, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:" and it was so. That is the Informer that put information into the DNA code. Without that info YOU don't exist. It is impossible for anything living to still live w/out that info. Oh....and macro evolution science needs faith in order to think that all of this (the universe) came out of nothing. WOW!!
Curtlegger 2 months ago
@Curtlegger LMFAO...you still didn't answer my question you dumb fucking shit. my dog is smarter than you. is your god infinite or not? the bible is nothing but lies. god doesnt exist...period. I can write a book about how pigs fly or how unicorns exist. ROFL you're fucking stupider than I could've possibly imagined

(most time prophesy was written after the real events anyway)
kelbykross1 2 months ago
Now, as far as Rollins' saying that Intelligent Design cannot be tested in a lab therefor should be discarded, then he would have to feel the same about Human Evolution, which cannot be tested in a laboratory either. I personally believe that human evolution makes the most sense, but i have a sneaking suspicion that the bible beaters will get the biggest laugh at the end of the day.
k3n0bl 2 months ago
I'd like to correct Mr Rollins, the title of Darwins book was "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" He discusses in full about how 1 or 2 races will ultimately wipe out the other ones in his book "Descent of Man". If Rollins believes in Evolution and Science, then he would be classified as a racist, since evolution and genetics say that blacks are more related to chimpanzees than other races, DNA backs it up
k3n0bl 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 if the evolution debate was science vs science it would be a debate about the parameters in which evolution occurred. Considering the "species change over time" basis of evolution is a proven fact. Where the theory is legitimately debatable is how and when these changes occur, what changes exactly have and have not occurred, what changes can and/or will occur, etc. Not do we believe a well supported scientific theory based on fact or do we believe a bronze aged myth
youbetzler 2 months ago
I thought Rollins was smarter than this. Evolution has never been observed or tested scientifically either.

youbetzler 2 months ago

tailgunnerjoe1 1 month ago
@tailgunnerjoe1 Actually it HASN'T. Only the effects of gravity have been observed. The actual phenomena that occurs to create attractions between objects has never been observed, the Theory of Gravitation offers the best explanation however like Evolution it's "just a theory"
youbetzler 1 month ago
@tailgunnerjoe1 did the bible tell you that?
MetalorGTFO 2 months ago
You really think the Bible says "Evolution has never been observed or tested scientifically"? No. you're just being a wise ass. Not impressed.
tailgunnerjoe1 1 month ago
@TheRacer909 - Did you catch the part where Rollins mentioned the "Intellectually Lazy"?
That's what you're being right now.
The Bible (this "prophecy" you speak of) is a self-authenticating, and untrustworthy book of bronze-age fairy tales that require, nay, DEMAND that you believe them - or burn. The only evidence you offer of them being "factual" are MORE stories from the same book.
Evolutionary process is not only provable, IT'S REPRODUCIBLE UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS.
PendekarBobbe 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 In sicence a theory is the most elaborate form of consistent scientific knowledge not yet disproved by experiment. A theory can't be proven, only disproven. No one has been able to disprove evolution or abiogenesis. Gravity is in fact a theory, made up of many laws. So is the germ-theory of disease. And my position is that someone who thinks god created life has a lot of nerve talking about observable reality. Please leave science to the scientists, we'll leave religion to you. Bye.
jmanu777 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 Has it occured to you that humans do not understand every facet of science, and what you claim to be in contradiction to scientific law and observable reality, is quite possibly beyond the reach of our current understanding and technology. To draw to the conclusion that 'god' is the only explanation for a 'contradictory event' seems premature and unjustified, and even arrogant to assume that the spiritual figure of your preferred religion is responsible.
michaeldouw 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 so essentially, the bible can be proven correct by referencing another passage in the bible. Not really corroborating your sources are you?
michaeldouw 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 yeah me too. But i just cited well known expermients that prove organic compounds can come form inorganic compunds. But that's the theory of Abiogenesis. Evolution explains what happens to life after abiogenesis. In any case, if you dismiss abiogenesis because of no proof (even though there is plenty of it, for evolution as well), then you should dismiss a supernatural being creating life, because there is no proof of that either. Anyway, had a good chat and best of luck!
jmanu777 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 I understand you can have doubts about it. To doubt is healthy. I'm not saying I'm 100% sure that this is exactly what happened. All i'm saying is that it's proven that organic compunds CAN come from inorganic compounds. Since it CAN happen, then we can't rule it out as an explanation for the genesis of life. Since it can happen, it isn't a "wild" idea to think it happened before. And If i'm given the choice between this theory or the belief that god did it, i'd choose the theory.
jmanu777 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 From a rock? no. From amino acids. Here's the proof: amino acids, the building blocks of life, can form with natural chemical reactions unrelated to life, which then turn into proteins (like the MIller-Urey experiment proved). The questions is not "If" that happened. It happens all the time. The question is when exactly, and which proteins formed first. But it's a proven fact that organic compunds, or "life", can come from inorganic compounds. Google it if you want.
jmanu777 2 months ago
@TheRacer909 Edward Buchner was able to generate biochemical reactions (processes that happen in living things) without using anything that was alive, proving you don't need life to generate life. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for it. In 1907. How's your logic working out?

@SuperAtheist Take it easy, friend, you'll never change his mind. Science changes its views based on evidence and repeated testing of theories. It welcomes (encourages, even!) people to try and knock holes in theory with careful experimentation and clever thinking and when proven wrong, rejoices in the new accumulation of knowledge. The Church is the polar opposite; people are told NOT to question, NOT to think. Anyone who finds such an approach appealing is beyond reasoning with.

@au46tro9 "the missing link" is a very old fashioned concept and was pretty much abandoned in the 80's.

A scientific theory has a different meaning to a theory in standard English. In standard English, a theory is an idea that may or may not be true.

A cursory skim of the comments demonstrates that sadly your video posting only sucked in the believers of a myth that claims the world was created when the Sumerians were running the first civilization in the middle east.

so when's this loud-mouthed ape going to evolve?
ArchieLovesMe 5 months ago
@WraitheDarkbone The laws of gravity and electromagnetic fields and physics, etc. speak volumes about intelligent design. Long ago when people believed that the world was flat...Isaiah said....the earth is a sphere hanging upon nothing...Before DNA was ever even conceived by human minds, the Psalmist wrote.."You see even the embryo of me...my parts are down in writing". Isaiah also said the "Due to the abundance of Your dynamic energy, all things came into existence. Einstein: E=MC2

Rollins always cracks me up. He is EXTREMELY serious and emphatic about everything. Like Penn Gillette, but with zero sense of irony.

And your rights go bye, bye.
topher23w 6 months ago
@topher23w That is the STUPIDEST argument I've ever heard. For one thing, dipshit, the "creator" gets mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. For another, the United States wasn't the first kingless society in history - "republic" is from Latin and "democracy" from Greek because THE GREEKS AND ROMANS PIONEERED THOSE KINGLESS SYSTEMS. Finally, you're the one trying to restrict others' rights by insisting that people profess beliefs they don't actually hold.

PROOF THAT A LARGE PORTION OF THE BIBLE IS MADE-UP:
1. On the first day, God created light. Several days later, he created the sun. I guess the first lightbult wasn't bright enough.
2. Jonah was in the belly of a whale for three days for disobeying God. Obviously he would have died unless God intervened...I g
