@audgeyp O'Brien thought Cora was planning to fire her when she was really trying to find a new housemaid for Violet. When Cora was taking a bath, O'Brien left a bar of soap on the floor (on purpose) and Cora slipped getting out, which caused her to lose her baby (I don't see the correlation). Then Cora got sick and O'Brien felt guilty about it because Cora said she was so good to her.

A stellar performance by Ms. McGovern, I would have been so sad if they had let her die! Its just horrific that we have to wait until sep. 2012 before we will get more DA!!!

Also does anyone else think Dr Clarkson was a bit useless in this episode, first he gets Matthew's diagnosis wrong then all he seems to have to help Spanish flu is epinephrine.

Seems incredible that she could make it to Lavinia's funeral a few days later, when she was at death's door.

I was so glad Cora pulled through. She's my favourite character on the show. I glad to see the back of Jane though. I couldn't believe that Robert was considering cheating although it was strange that he chose a girl who looked like a younger, less pretty version of his wife.

@morrisoniice Yeah but the affair was so out of character that it was quite hard to believe. I just fast forward those scenes when I watch season 2.

I wish they'd had a scene when they realised she was going to make it. Think it would have been a nice contrast to Lavinia and given Elizabeth a little bit more screen time.

I had hoped that Elizabeth would've been given more screen time :( I really like Cora (and Elizabeth) but she only appears for like 5 minutes/episode.

In an hour and half special of Downton. Elizabeth had about 6 minutes of screen time.

im so glad cora survived im really sad though that they killed of lavianna and now Matthew can't be happy!
