The iphone would be getting speeds of 7.2mbps but in real life (data traffic...) its more like 3-4mbps and!!! the capacitive has speed restrictions because att are nazi's so they get like 1-2mbps even though samsung manufactured it to get speeds of also 7.2. Also if u get a nexus one, flash it to T-Mobile if you want unrestricted speeds of 7.2mbps but it cost you your reliable coverage that t-mo doesnt have.

ok rotating screen is not a good test. The phones can rotate much faster but, they dont. The rotate just after a few seconds, so the phone knows sure, you want to rotade them.
By the way, i am not a apple fan. If got nexus one myself

The reason iPhone 4 takes longer to rotate the screen is it has a delay incase you accidentally tip for a split second the screen it doesn't keep flipping around. It's not the processor.

You cannot do these tests on the same wifi. If you saw iPhone loaded the first bit first then the Galaxy S boomed in the lead. This mean the Galaxy S benefited from network cache... iPhone 4 also has 4 tabs. Wasn't a fair comparison

I've had people dissing the iphone like you standing in front of me with lots of bullshit about internet speed. They were never correct so I don't bother anymore to argue. I am glad the Android phone is taking Apple to task. Competition is always good. I was convinced I was going to get the Captivate. But when I did my own side by side comparison, the feel and function of the iPhone 4 was more appealing. It is a tough decision when we consider that 99.8% of the apps from the iTunes store are worthless crap, I just wish that Microsoft would release WM7 in a smartphone.

hey listen i think the reason the iphone is so smooth with xrolling is because it restricts how far the scroll goes on each flick or drag of the finger if you flick on the stock android browser you go a long distance if they had short little flick distances like the iphone it would probably be just as smooth if not more

@Tazy50 although the Captivate/Vibrant is a little faster than the N1, it would be best to get the dedicated Google N1 because it would be the first to get the Android OS updates.
@smcoats I was hoping the suggestion would be Nexus :D and the Nexus took a second longer because it supports flash, so it has to have extra components and search for flash content, which takes a second longer. But okay, I'll try to get N1
@FlareOfDawn Having other pages open shouldn't matter, the phone shouldn't try to reload every page or tab in the browser every time you open a new page, being an iPhone user myself, I know this isn't the case, and it really bothers me. It's frustrating when you flip form one page to another, and then back to the one you were just on 10 seconds ago, and for some reason the phone feels it's necessary to reload both pages.

That's why I liked the phone and I don't know what your problem because I'm not blasting on Captivate, Droid X, Evo, etc. I would like to switch with the Captivate if they had a flash, better camera, and video capabilities....I would also like to try Droid X and Evo but I'm on contract with AT&T.

You could download the free memory 2.0 watch when u close those "saved" apps from the background it give the phone more ram to work with. Thus making the phone run more faster than when it save where u left off from an app.

Isn't that exactly what android does so what more does android do that iPhone doesn't. Yea widgets, which I have to say are AMAZING on android but me personally in my opinion I would choose the smoothness and simplicity of the iPhone over widgets for android any day.

Around 800mhz. Not officially stated, just throught some speculations. Am I mistaken?
Check out careace's comparison. Galaxy S downloaded faster by 30% but uploaded at less than half the speed over wifi. Benchmark tests come out similar

@ls600h1 800Mhz is benchmarked by Anantech with 3GS and Ipad. iPhon 4 is right between them. 600mhz - 800mhz - 1Ghz.

I've had people dissing the iphone like you standing in front of me with lots of bullshit about internet speed. They were never correct so I don't bother anymore to argue. You like kissing-up to the Samsung: how about adding the fact that it fucking replicates an iphone has? sensitive touch...same menu...going for the apps...let's pray for a day when Samsung will have Cisco VPN Client on it and you can rise it up to company level.

I am glad the Android phone is taking Apple to task. Competition is always good. I was convinced I was going to get the Captivate. But when I did my own side by side comparison, the feel and function of the iPhone 4 was more appealing. It is a tough decision when we consider that 99.8% of the apps from the iTunes store are worthless crap, I just wish that Microsoft would release WM7 in a smartphone.

@foxh8er Even if A4 was running at normal speed, hummingbird is still a faster and more efficient chip. And Samsung manufactures the A4 for apple, which is weird.

hey listen i think the reason the iphone is so smooth with xrolling is because it restricts how far the scroll goes on each flick or drag of the finger if you flick on the stock android browser you go a long distance if they had short little flick distances like the iphone it would probably be just as smooth if not more

The samsung captivate is a great phone. i really want it. but i upgrade an like 3 4 months. it is the best android phone out right now, its fast, the screen is perfect, and its light weight.

I have a Motorola CLIQ and I feel like crap, now. I'm planning to return my CLIQ. I want to get the Vibrant (The T-Mobile version of the captivate, literally) or the Nexus One. Which ever is cheaper? Any suggestions?

@Tazy50 although the Captivate/Vibrant is a little faster than the N1, it would be best to get the dedicated Google N1 because it would be the first to get the Android OS updates.

@smcoats I was hoping the suggestion would be Nexus :D and the Nexus took a second longer because it supports flash, so it has to have extra components and search for flash content, which takes a second longer. But okay, I'll try to get N1

@FlareOfDawn Having other pages open shouldn't matter, the phone shouldn't try to reload every page or tab in the browser every time you open a new page, being an iPhone user myself, I know this isn't the case, and it really bothers me. It's frustrating when you flip form one page to another, and then back to the one you were just on 10 seconds ago, and for some reason the phone feels it's necessary to reload both pages.

@sarahwarda101, even if the iphone 4 had 1 tab open it would still be slower i have the captivate and my freind has the iphone 4 and captivate smokes it every time when we put them head to head. dont get me wrong there both awsome phones but i like the captivate better

@dennissiu well it was like that even after he let go of the the phone, so obviously not the same as the iphone 4 where it looses bars when you grip it wrong and when you let go it's back to normal.

Hey Biohazard 7371, I like the iphone 4 specifically for the camera, flash, and video clarity. That's why I liked the phone and I don't know what your problem because I'm not blasting on Captivate, Droid X, Evo, etc. I would like to switch with the Captivate if they had a flash, better camera, and video capabilities....I would also like to try Droid X and Evo but I'm on contract with AT&T.

You could download the free memory 2.0 watch when u close those "saved" apps from the background it give the phone more ram to work with. Thus making the phone run more faster than when it save where u left off from an app.

@OGTravisC True but iPhone 4 has alot of customizability after ios4 update. Backgrounds, folders, switching apps around the homescreen. Isn't that exactly what android does so what more does android do that iPhone doesn't. Yea widgets, which I have to say are AMAZING on android but me personally in my opinion I would choose the smoothness and simplicity of the iPhone over widgets for android any day.
