my toms r much lower than that, i mount my mic from the bottom of the snare, i find i get more attack less low end, sounds pretty nice, dont think thats what he is doin, but just incase u were wondering how to do it easy

well, it depends on what crash youve got already, when buying another crash the main thing to bare in mind is that they dont clash, and they sound good together:) like some cymbals have a darker sound ( generally the more expenasive do) so a dead expensive 1 probably wont go for you if your crash at the moment if it isnt very expensive. but sometimes you dont have to pay the most to get the best sound(:
